I will say this. I do feel very sorry for the dog, and she needs a proper vet. I have had a similar experiance with a vet taping a cat several years back after a spay, it was awful, because just like this little dog, her stiches came open, and like this other vet, they said there was nothing we could do but keep her extreamly clean and let it heal from the inside out. They said it was dangerous to close it up because infection was likly already in there and by sewing her, it would get worse. Well, it looked very, very bad for about a month and a half, but it did eventully heal. My mother and I felt so bad for the kitty and felt like it was our fault becasue we had gotten her spayed with that vet. They had said at the time it was a new way of closing surgery sites. I have never heard of it before or since until now. I would never have it done agian, actully I make sure they dont before I take them in. I hope this little fur baby will be ok, ours turned out ok, so there is hope. (and it doesnt bleed they way you would think, but it does weep, because it is open tissue. ) However ends up woth theis girl they need her on antiboitics and keep it clean, and she cannot go anywhere but the vet, otherwise she can get a serious infection. Good luck, and please keep us posted. |

I'm glad hear that it does happen, I was so scaried they did it themselves. |
I'm going to call right now, and see if I can get that number |
Many years ago (probabaly 40) we had a rat terrier spayed and the vet stitched her up but as soon as we got home, the dog took her stitches out and of course there was a gaping hole. The vet said to just leave her alone, she would heal from the inside out and she would take care of it herself. This dog lived to 18 years of age and never had any other problems from the surgery. I know it sounds and looks gross but our story had a happy ending. I hope this poor baby has the same. |
Just catching up! I can't get over what has gone on here at Yorkie Talk while I was not on this past couple hours... Summer and everyone home..leaves us to sharing this computer with teens~ I'll going back to re-read... You guys amaze me at how fast you work...and your Huge hearts! This is a Wonderful Place~ :D |
yes it does, and it is scary, you cannot imagine what we thought when we saw it was opening. I literally threw up, and it scared the **** out of me and my mom, we thought she was going to die. I fault the lady for not getting a vet to check her though, she does need medical attension for meds, and stuff. I really hope this little gal is ok. Please, always ask your vet what kind of sutures they use, trust me you never want to go through with this. I am glad she didnt just dump the dog, so many do, they just dont care, all they want is the moolah, sick, just sick. It will be spendy to treat to, becasue at least us, (after we got a good vet) spent nearly 700 dollars on or house cat, to get her fixed up. We had her checked 2 to 3 times a week until she was better, and loads of anitboitics |

I wish we could get an update on this dog. I am so interested to know if she was taken to the Vet. I would have no problem chipping in to make sure she received the proper medical attention. |
Just want to say thanks to everyone. If anything like this ever happens near Denver just let me know. |
Well, the lady knows it was me, that told everyone about her. So I don't think she will give me an update or a phone number. I wish someone else on here would. |
