Disney Kennels Michiko is in Florida and was thinking of going to one of the Disney parks, possibly Animal Kingdom? and was wondering if anyone had ever used the Disney kennels for their dog while they were at the park? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks |

I've never left a dog there, but I went to one a few years ago just to look around and it was a really nice place. But I think everything at Disneyworld is very well-run  |
I left my Malts (pre-Peanut) at the Universal one. It was safe, staffed and clean. The man thought I was a complete nut job. I brought in their bed, water bottle, food, toys, favorite snack and a blankie! All they require is their food!   |
I think you always take a risk when you leave your dog with anyone. If I was her, I'd just check the kennel out and see how they run it...I'm sure they probably do a good job. I doubt it's like a doggie resort, but I bet they have a clean, well-run facility. I did read somewhere that Disney is supposed to be building a really nice dog resort place for boarding and daycare..not sure when it's going to be done though |
Thanks for the response. I am thinking about leaving her for a day and not overnight. I have never left her with anyone, so I am a bit worried. I probably will step out a couple times to make sure she is okay... I am heading to Orlando from Tallahassee this evening..... If I don't have enough courage to leave Haruka at kennels.. we will have fun at Downtown Disney or somewhere... I bet I find more entertaining places comparing with Tallahassee :) Tallahassee seems to have a lot of tree and tree and trees! Thanks Patti for posting this! |
I just called them... It is individual kennnel so no interaction with other dogs... Ah.. that is good!! |
I live in Melbourne (an hour East Orlando) I would be happy tp watch your little one for you. Murphy and Mia love house guests :p ....especially other yorkies. I know that may be the last resort but know I am here if it comes down to it. :) Have a great time in Orlando - Disney is great, you will love it! |
I heard they were revamping that kennel so they also have like a day spa. My Husband looked into it once and they said you have to come to the kennel once a day at least and walk your dog |
I used the Disney kennels several years ago (like 6 yrs) when I only had one yorkie. I loved them and they gave my Kramer lots of attention. The facilities at that time were very clean and nice. When I used them you could also switch them to whatever park you were at. We had jumper passes so didn't spend a whole day at each park so I would move him to whatever park we were at. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again if we go. I think it was only like $6 / day. Can't beat that price. |

Where are you staying?? I've had an annual pass to Disney every year since I was 2...we went 3-4 times a year when I was young. I know the ins and outs of almost everything there. If you are staying in one of the higher end hotels it won't be a problem to keep your dog with you if you are discreet. Kinda like the military...don't ask, don't tell, and don't parade your dog around! |

Kennel was nice. It was very clean!!! :) I would never leave my girl overnight.. but if you don't have a choice.. then that should be fine :) Staff were very nice there. Staff told me that Haruka was sleeping peacefully whole time. :) When I walked her, she made sure to pee and poop :) I think she liked the company with other dogs ... She wasn't really thrilled to see me or anything.. so I think she felt comfortable there. I travel pretty often.. so I decided not to pay for pet fee at hotels... It is just too much.. So we usually find a hotel that allows pet, but I just sneak her in.. She is very good. She makes sure to pee and poop only on pee pads or outside.. So I just make sure that I bring ziplock so I throw the peepads outside.. in trash. When I was at Animal Kingdom.. I went there around 11 a.m. and came to visit at 3 p.m. and put her back at kennel around 3:30 p.m. and came to pick her up at 7:30 p.m. :) It was clean.. I left her Celltei bag (Just in case if she felt comfortable being in there). They put a blanket/towel for Haruka.. and they had bowls for water and food. I brought food for Haruka... IF you have two dogs, you can put two dogs in the same kennel... I just loved how clean the place was :) |

I am sure you can leave three :) I heard that there is always someone there. So if you want to visit during the night.. you could do that I think :) Quote:

Well, no matter what, Disney pretty much does everything pretty great. I personally wouldn't hesistate to leave my dogs in a Disney kennel. Everything I've encountered has been about customer service and word of mouth, I would think the kennels would be expertly run. My father is uptight, always worried about security, which is why we have vacationed at Disney so much in the past....he trusts them! |

I am sure that you can find hotels that you can bring your dogs. Many people travel with their dogs... That shouldn't be hard :) Many Holiday Inns .. you can have dogs... Some of resident inn kind of place too :) |
