Good idea to keep track of peds though, but don't usually registrations do that? How many Biewers are on pedigreedatabase? Have lots of breeders put their dogs info out there? I don't think I want anyone looking over my dogs info unless they go to my web site. I will let the registries keep track of peds for me. |
I understand copyrights but if it is her dog I don't understand why it is such an issue that she posted a picture of her the the original breeder had taken. Seems sort of petty to me, but what do I know i'm  And where is the watermark? All I see is some photoshoped text that was cropped out |
Like I said, I removed the photo. There was no watermark. Just the dog's name, which was cropped out to size the photo....but the dog's name was on the page. Again, this is moot. I removed the picture. when was the last time she posted except to criticize me? |

LOL! I'm confused. Isn't it just a simple matter of saying "hey, do you mind if I use this photo??" |

Today was the first I had ever even been on there. I am not sure how to use it, but I only saw about 6-7 Biewers. As far as liver shunt. I stay away from dogs that have Uz and Ghana in their lines. Takes a lot of the worry (I know not all) out of it. |
Well now that it is my dog, wouldn't it have been polite for the breeder to ask me if I wanted her pedigree posted on a pedigree database? Gee, why didn't the breeder post all her dogs' pedigrees--she has had many more than 6 dogs. Or maybe she didn't want to name all of them.....maybe they had faults: bad color, bad bites, bad?? Seems the poster wanted an opportunity to make me look bad. Since I have had the dog and the pictures since March 2006, I really didn't think it was necessary to ask. I have taken down the picture. Mea culpa, mea culpa. Time to move on... |

It takes time to load this information and it is done on my spare Time. A very decidicated person in Germany has load the majority of this information and I was trying to contribute. I think it is a wonderful database to understand what is behind the Biewers. Understand the line breeding behind them it is astonishing and every breeder should be paying attention to this IMHO. 10 generation pedigrees of a biewer can repeat Darling 56 or more times. |
So far most of the Biewers with LS can be traced back to these two dogs. There is always other problems that can pop up too that make a dog not breedable. size (too big or too small) Legg Perthes hernias heart murmur bad bites undescended testicles luxating patellas (if not from injury) Some are next to impossible to trace as they just seem to pop up while others are more easily traced. There are breeders out there that will not stand behind their dogs at all. When the new owner contacts them, they will not respond. If they do they just tell them "well that's that chance you take when you buy a 'prospect'" I have offered new owners a different dog when hair coat was not what they thought it should be. One dog that is almost 2 years old all of a sudden has luxating patellas. One vet wants to do surgery even though dog is asymptomatic. We have offered that owner to have our vet do the surgery at no cost to the owner (transportation, lodging, vet all paid for) It will save the current owner almost $2000 which is more than what she paid for the dog. The contract even says she cannot rehome the dog unless to us, but we will allow her to sell the dog to a home closer to her so she can keep an eye on her. Surgery paid for and able to sell the dog, sounds pretty good to me. |

Copyright protects “original works of authorship” that are fixed in a tangible form of expression. The fixation need not be directly perceptible so long as it may be communicated with the aid of a machine or device. Copyrightable works include the following categories: 1. literary works; 2. musical works, including any accompanying words 3. dramatic works, including any accompanying music 4. pantomimes and choreographic works 5. pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works 6. motion pictures and other audiovisual works 7. sound recordings 8. architectural works It is an exceptable form to use Graphic software which can be used to create, edit, and manage 2D computer graphics. These computer graphics may be clip art, Web graphics, logos, headings, backgrounds, digital photos, or other kinds of digital images. In this example the breeder had her kennel name and the dogs name on the picture before it was removed and posted on a website. How many times have we seen people on YT complain about this. A breeder’s name is very important and should never be removed or pictures used without permission. Just because you own the dog does not give you the right to break laws. |

I know that some of the German Biewers here are not being shown in the US under their full names, would that be a copyright infringement? Misrepresentation? I always use the dog's full name with the kennel part when showing. Of course it is too long to use everyday though. Some of my call names have nothing to do with the registered name at all. |
