this was in todays news paper, yorkie was at a pet sitter while the couple was in las vegas.

There is a big red flag on this story. I hope they do get Lexie back, and I also hope they microchip her and the new puppy and keep a little tag with on the dogs with thier name and phone number. Without a chip, they can't really prove the dog is theirs, and whoever has the dog can now get it chipped in their own name. So sad.

I feel so sorry for this couple.they really love her and want her home I pray some one will do the right thing and bring her home where she belongs.



AND that baby sitter should get in some kind of trouble.how in the heck did she lose her? come on its not your dog so they won't be as comfortable with you as the owners. she should never have had her off leash out side in the first place.sounds fishy to me also.

I am afraid to keep collars on my dog, esp. when I am not home, afraid they will get hung up on something. Do you keep collars on yours?

You could put cat collars on your dog. They break away if they get caught on anything. I don't put collars on mine here at the house, but when we take them somewhere I put their tag on their harness.

Riley has a small tag that I put on his harness, but his rabies tag is to big for him. Should I still keep his rabies tag on him?? It looks like it weighs him down. Lol.

I just called the owner of the lost yorkie. I think she will come & join YT. she said her user name will be lzpeaches.

She is just heartbroken about Lexy -- I'm just praying they can get her back very soon - someone thinks they spotted her.

I have harnesses if we go anywhere, but I dont keep collars in the house. I am very carefull that they don't get out, but I have a son and people come over and you just never know. And then if they were lost, nobody would know who to contact regarding the dog (I do not yet have them microchipped).

I just couldnt trust Chloe with anyone. Shes too cute I am afraid shed get snatched away.

I board mine every October for a week too two weeks and worry about this happening

This story is so sad and when I read the article earlier today it broke my heart. I really pray that they can find their baby. :love: :cry:

I read the article in the paper and all the comments. I actually find that some people must just 'skim' articles like this and miss a lot of salient points.

One person intimated that it was their fault because they 'sent' the pup to a sitter without a leash. Not true...if they had really read it they would have seen that the pup was supposed to remain in it's own home. Contrary to the owner's explicit instructions, the sitter took the pup to her own residence and sent her brother to check on it when she had left it there. She should have stayed in the home as instructed by the pup's owners. If she couldn't be responsible enough to do the job as required, she shouldn't have taken it. Grrrrrrr.

Another person stated that instead of offering a five thousand dollar reward for the safe return of theor beloved pet, they should just give the five thousand to the hungry children of Des Moines and pray for th epup's return. What an idiot! I would recommend that this idiot give up what is dear to them, sell their auto, use a moped....sell their home and live in a pup-tent....then they can give ALL of those proceeds to the hungry children of Des Moines. Practice what you preach, I say. What's up with trying to make someone feel guilty because they love their Yorkie so much?

These folks have every right to do whatever they are able to do to try to get that baby back to their loving home. Anyone that thinks contrary to this has never loved or had the love of a Yorkie. I paid a lot for mine before I loved her. NOW....that I have had her and love her, she is worth so much more to me than what I paid. What I would be willing to expend to get her back if she became lost is not the business of anyone else, just like it is nobody's business how much they are willing to pay to get their baby back.

Sometimes, folks just really tick me off when they spout stupidity like that.

I just hope they get their precious baby back.

I agree. The owners explicity wanted to keep their baby in their own home. The pet sitter or the brother should confess to what really happened instead of conflicting stories to aid in the help to find their baby. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have family members who can keep their babies for them. I also dread ever having to board my baby. I pray nothing bad happened and they are reunited.:angel2dl:

Some people are idiots :mad: So many people just don't understand how special our babies are to us. A dog is not just a possession that can be replaced like a TV or Car...a dog is a family member..a loved one. I would just be devestated if I lost Lacy and would do all I could to get her back. She's worth the world to me.

That petsitter needs to be sued and should be made to pay the reward...how irresponsible to disregard a client's wishes and to have let Lexi outside unleashed. It's one thing to trust your own dog offleash...it's quite another to let a dog offleash that you don't know well. Petsitter needs to be held responsible.

I hope the owner joins YT and I hope Lexi is found. I can't imagine the pain they are going through :(

You are absolutely right.. I do hope they join YT and had they been on here before.. I know a YT member would have looked after that baby like it was there own,.
this story just breaks my heart.. I just choked up so bad ready this.. I pray she will be found.. so small to be out in the cold. The dogsitter really pisses my off. :mad: sorry but this makes me so angry that people could be so careless and reckless with some one else's wee dog like this person was..

No matter what we all need to microchip our babies.. for we never know when we will be thankful we did.

We would offer four times what they offered!! We own nothing more valuable than Toto. That's exactly why we have never left her and never will. I will also be praying for the safe return of that baby.

Oh, those poor people, this story just breaks my heart. I'm going to show it to the lady that is watching my girls in in my home while I'm gone. I've made it very clear that they are not to leave this house, and now I can give her an example of what can happen. I prayer they find Lexi soon.

That's so sad, i hope they are reunited with her. She is so cute!

Sorry for all the thread updates - I just wanted anyone who was praying for Lexy to know :(


I am so sorry to share the news of Lexy.

Some will wonder what took so long to share, but I really felt like this was lzpeaches news to share, but she has been dealing with a lot the last 2 weeks. She had intended to post earlier - besides dealing with the grief, she has been dealing with so much more - the horror of dealing with the girl who was to be caring for Lexy, and the fact that she was packing her home in Iowa up to move back to Michigan. This morning she gave me permission to post for her. She just arrived today in Michigan & will be moving into her new house next week - hopefully in time she will be back on YT. You can PM her if you wish.

Lexy's body was found. It is very likely she was hit by a car - she had crossed a very, very busy 4-lane road with turn lanes. The area where she is found is kind of "ditchy" for lack of a better word. So she was probably laying lower than the area between the street and the sidewalk. She was most likely buried under snow for weeks.

The paper did another story about 10 days ago. If you read the comments, you will find that you have to hit last, to actually go to the first comment

OMG, I am so sorry to hear this about Lexy.. I know she was loved and this is so devastating for those who loved her so..I just do not know what to say..It sure makes you wonder who you can trust to look after your furbutts.. this is a sad reminder of this.
