| I'm trying taping for Izzy's ears. I'm not hanging onto a lot of hope that they will stand, since she will be 17 weeks in a couple of days. It doesnt seem to bother her at all, but if it does, I will quit. It just isnt worth her being annoyed over. Has anyone ever taped at this age and had good results?

| Usually up until around 6 mos. if they're not up by then, they probably won't come up..I taped my shepherds ears when she was around 4 mos. but, it was hurting her, and the thing my breeder put in her ear was coming out around the tape and I was about to gag...I said enough is enough, so, I had the breeder come back over, as when I tried taking the tape off, i could tell it was hurting her, so now it's one up and one down..here's her pic http://alpha-dog.org/images/Medium%2..._&_Kasey_1.JPG |

| Are you also trimming the hair on the ears? It will also help.

| Yes, I shaved her ears with the clippers. I really dont think its going to work, she keep scratching the tape off. Oh well, no biggie, shes still my baby!

| I never had any luck with taping; they just scratch it off in a few minutes. What I do now is to keep the ears shaved and just massage the ears for a few minutes several times a day. What you are trying to do by massaging is to stimulate the blood in the veins. The pup usually likes the attention and it can be a good bonding time. Just find the veins in the ear and massage them between your thumb and forefinger. I've had really good luck with this method. |

| I taped lylas ears for 3 days the first time and they stayed up untill the next day. I taped them back up 2 days later for 3 days and they stayed up for a few hours. My husband taped them up a couple of nights ago she got the tape of by morning but this time they are standing. I dont know what he did so great but it worked. We used the black electric tape after shaving the tops.

| My new little girl just turned 5 months two days ago and I'm having the opposite problem with her right ear. About 1/3 of the tip bends backward and I've been taping it for the past 6 weeks and it's not working. She doesn't mind the tape at all and it doesn't hurt her when I take it off to replace it, so I'll just keep doing this till it is straight. |
