True but your pet may have already ingested these fragments that
can cause it harm. Believe me, stay away from these chews.

thanks for the warning... bully sticks are my favorites by far for belle to chew on...and it keeps her busy for quite a while...

does anyone know if "pork-hide" is good for them? i know rawhide is not digestible, so she doesnt get that anymore, but what about pork-hide?

omg... everyone needs to read the article the above poster linked... Nylabones are NOT safe!

No chews are safe, really. The safest ones are bully sticks but they still have their problems and are most likely drenched in chemicals to preserve them. Raw carrot with supervision is my first choice.:)

They barely chew on it and the fragments come off. We have had a problem with nylabones also

So what do you recommend for a nice bone - that I can get at Walmart or Petco - that would be good for my little guy? He's a chew-a-holic... and right now he wants to chew on paper, books, my kids' toes ...

I've gotten him a fleecy ball to chew on, and a rubber squeaky gorilla that he tosses around and pounces on, and a little stuffed doggy friend for him to play with.

I'm hoping that a good bone will make him happy and calm down the extraneous chewing.

I can't recommend any bones. They all have their problems. Before you choose a bone type the name of the product into google followed by the word death or obstruction or damage.

Some bones (like bully sticks) will have less complaints (but I still don't really recommend them).

The only chew bone or toy I allow Buddy to have is a natural bone.
They can be purchased in any pet store and are in a bin by all the
other chews like pig ears, raw hide etc. They, I believe are beef bones.
Get one that fits into your babies mouth. Most are large but they do have
small ones as well. They are already cleaned by being boiled and dried
by the manufacturer. Buddy still is a chewer and chews dents in these bones.
They are safe and nothing comes off.

Jambo likes the blue nubby ones too. I believe they are called Dental Chews but I took them away from him when I saw that he was pulling off the nubs rather than just chewing on them for a good gum massage. The package says that it is safe for a few shavings to be digested and should pass but I have never see the nubs in his poop and personally him consuming something synthetic like this makes me nervous. I would however like to find a chewing type of thing that is good for his teeth so please offer suggestions.
