I am glad Sam is ok and is on the mend.

It was an accident and unfortunately these things just happen.

If your daughter is only into money, thinking of only herself and is acting indifferent. Have her help to pay the vet bill. I don't know her but most teens act like that when they don't want anyone to see how upset or emotional they are.
It is a phase she should grow out of when she gets out in the "real world" and is on her own; paying their own way tends to help them grow up.

Hello everyone i am soooooo sorry that i rushed through the post like i did i came home quick enough to tell my kids i loved them and goodnight and i rushed back out the door. It was Sam and it was a accident. I have a MAJOR RULE in my home that no one but hubby or i are the hold the furbaby's unless they are sitting on the floor and then the babies can sit on their laps. But my oldest daughter will be 18 in 16 days and she has become a reall hard to handle not listening to us at all kind of kid and she took it upon herself to pick him up well he did not want her to so he jumped from her tothe floor hubby (Bill) saw her grab him and just started to open his mouth to tell her put him down when he jumped.Bill picked him up and we rushed him to the vet we were told that he had a concusion and were given the choice to take him back home or pay 100 a night to keep him there and as i am sure all of you feel the cost was the furthest thing from our minds so of course we said keep him because we didn't know if he would/could eat or drink on his own so they could start a i.v if needed. The next evening we were informed by the vet assistant that he had in fact been eating and drinking on his own. And they said i can go pick him up after 10 am today. He is still sore and will need his rest so i plan on keeping him in his kennel (when i am not fussing over him)so the the other babies will not bother him until he is feeling 100% again. as far as my smart a$$ (sorry for the bad words i am still hurt and upset with her) goes she is now grounded until she is 18 or moves out because she broke and know she broke one of the biggest rules in out home.

Dee i am so sorry i feel so horrible that i did not call you sooner i was just so nervous and rattlebrained and spending all my time with him i haven't even seen my kids until this morning well not other than to run in and tell them night. I haven't been getting to bed until almost 3-4 in the morning and then back up within a few hours and back out of the house again please don't be mad at me i should have found time to call alot sooner.

Thanks everyone for the prayers and i do believe that they are what made him improve so much overnight so much so that they are telling me that he is ready and will be just fien at home.

Please i ask that you continue to keep him in your prayers because the poor little guy is still sore and not 100% yet.

Love,
Mary

Oh Mary, that is terrible! Don't ya just love those "almost 18 and know it all attitudes?" I'm so glad that your furbaby is ok, I've read real awful stories of how furbabies have died from falls like this, thank God your baby is still with you. I'll continue to keep him in my thoughts and prayers and hope he recovers totally and completely and won't be sore anymore. No need to apologize for now getting back here sooner either, I'm sure if it were any of us, we'd be out the door with our furbabies as well.

Let me say it like this(and I'm saying this in a nice way)..in the last 3-4 mos. I have known two ADULTS to accidentally drop their yorkies(not kids, in my book if a yorkie jumps from a 5 year olds arms or an adults, the chance of them surving a fall from a child is much better)..the thing is, this child was almost 18, as I stated, I had my first child at barely 18..I know a lot of breeders dont' want to sell yorkies to people that have kids..I do feel the op was doing all she could to keep this from happening, but the thing is, these little dogs DON'T just jump from childrens arms, none of the 2 recent ones have happened with a child, but as I stated, a grown adult..I feel bad for the Max and Sams mom, but, sweetie, accidents happen, and believe me, there have been a lot more of these accidents with older people, they just don't come on here and let anyone know...

Since I know everyone here is worried about Sam i am going to give everyone a update on him.

He ate and drank and took his pill and took a nap when he woke up he ate and drank again and i had him on my lap but he kept standing up (ON HIS OWN) and he kept trying to get down but being that he is still a LITTLE wobbly i won't let him down by himself (because i don't want him to fall)so i put him in his kennel where he leaned on the side of the kennel (smart baby he didn't want to fall over) and walked around it until he found somewhere that he wanted to poop and he did then he went back to the back of it and laid down (i am washing his messy blanket now) he is giving kisses and wagging his tail and gets very excited when Max comes and sits with him :) I have him either right beside me or on my lap at all times the vet said that the problem with the motor skills was common with a conccusion and they are improving by the hour. I felt like i owed it to my fellow ytr's to update them on Sam because i know you all are worried and you care very much about him and i have became close to alot of you and to me you are my family *HUGS*

Thanks, Mary, for the update. I'm glad he is doing better.

Beabble 02-04-2008 06:22 PM

Oh Mary, what an ordeal you've been through with your lil guy. Thank you so much for the update, I was just on my way to find the other thread you started about him. I'm so glad he's improving and I'll continue with prayers as long as your baby needs them. Did the vet say how long it could possibly take for a full recovery? I'm just so thankful he's there with you and a recovery is within full reach.

Mary, your daughter is about to adult age, most of the accidents I have seen lately where yorkies have died from dropping, has not been due to kids(if my g-daughter would stand with mine and drop Gin, I wouldn't be as upset as if one fell out of an adults arms)...just remember, accidents happen...

hartygirl 02-04-2008 06:32 PM

Its good to hear things are looking up for Sam! His little friend Brady Angus is wishing him all the best.
Get well soon Sam!
Mary you hang in there, it's good to know you are going to stick around.

No, no, no, don't you dare leave! How will we be able to watch Sam (and Max) grow up and compare similarities of Sam & Toby. I don't even get why you feel the need to take a break, unless it's to devote all of your attention to giving Sam lots and lots of TLC. That I can understand. But I for one will look forward to your daily updates on Sam, so keep 'em coming!

I had a min pin that ran into a wall and gave herself a concussion, My husband gave her mouth to mouth all the way to the vet...She had to learn to walk all over again too. She couldn't stand without falling, however, I gave her many opportunities and in no time at all she was walking. She did this when she was just a tiny pup chasing after my other dog, and she lived until she was 16 years old. I knew she was a fighter when she bit the dr. on the shoulder when he took her out of the incubator. That was the one and only time that she had ever bitten someone! You will be amazed how quickly your little Sam will gain his motor skills back. I wish you the best of luck!

I am so glad to hear you baby is back home and wagging his tail. That must make you feel so good inside. I also like you believe that all the positivity, prayers ,and love have helped pull him through. I was also up last night and like "Myfairlacy" was thinking about you and your baby and praying things were alright.I sure hope you and your family can have a peaceful night and get a good rest. I admire your very quick response and the love you show for your little Sam. Here's to getting him better and wishing you a very good life with him!!!Please take care of yourself!!!

Mary, I just saw this thread, glad I didn't see it earlier I'd of been hitting the refresh button all day. Glad Sam is feeling better, and I'll say a little prayer that he wakes up in the morning and is back to his ole self.
Maggie & Bailey send him Hugs & Kisses
