So today has been a weird sad day for me. Its only last week that we found out Tumi has LP..and i am kinda better at dealing with it. Only to find out today that my little Tatum has LP also..Sigh...:(
Brooke..i just want you to know that my prayers our with you. I am sure we will get through it and our girls will be well taken care of by us. Our buggers are strong little fighters!

What Grade were they diagnosised with? Grade 1 is the one Bailey has, so we're pretty lucky. I just have to keep an eye on her cuz she loves to jump around. I'm so sorry, I know how you nust feel! Sending good wishes.

I am sorry you are feeling bumed out!! I know how it feels Parkers knees are pretty bad and he is only 6 months old. Keep your chin up, the way I like to look at it (even though so expensive) it can be fixed! Our thoughts are with you and your babies!

It is sad :( It makes me really sad that LP is so common in our babies...breeders have got to do something to reduce this :( It may not be life-threatening (although surgery always has its risks) but it can cause a lot of pain for our babies and is an expensive, difficult surgery to put them through. I worry all the time that Lacy will need surgery one day. She has a grade 2 left and grade 3 right. Luckily her legs have never bothered her. My vet told me that she's seen a lot of small dogs do fine with a grade 3 as long as you keep their weight down. I just do not want to put Lacy through that surgery if her legs aren't bothering her...so I'm going to wait and see. The only downside to that is that the surgery is more difficult when they are older. So if she does end up needing surgery, I know it will be harder later in her life. It's a hard decision to make...I just don't want to put her through surgery if she's no in pain or bothered by it...but I would hate to have a more difficult surgery later.

tumi has grade 1. So we wont be needing a surgery soon. I never knew she has LP because she is never in pain and jumping and running around like she always does. The vet said it is possible that she has LP all along and i guess so..

I know how you feel because everytime i think about her going through the surgery, i just want to cry!! I also don't mind the cost of the surgery either but i just can't picture her little body going through the surgery. I am so sad about tatum and brooke also!

I doubt she'll need surgery with a grade 1...I wouldn't worry too much yet

prayers are with you it is extremely frustrating... get a good magazine and get your babies and cuddle... its heart breaking bleu has lp 1 and i regret the day! we are all here for you .. it just aggravates me to no end that yorkies have to endure what they do it upsets me terribly.. it is definitely not fair!:(

yeah..the vet told me not to worry..but i am preparing for the worst..:( my hubby and i are planning out what we will do..i know we are paranoid parents..we just want the best for her.

So well said, :thumbup: my little Kacee has LP also.:eek: He was not born with it, he was just fine, but my brother in law decided when I was not home to let him climb the large steps going up to their deck,:( but all afternoon..:mad: he weighed less then 2 pounds.. not long after that he would cry out. I then found out that this is what had happened.. I cringe when people with small toy dogs, think it is funny when there little one's as baby's stand on their hind legs.. and jump up and down on them.. It can cause LP so easily. It is just a scary thought to even put kacee through this surgery..

My thoughts and prayers are with you...I hope all is ok. Seems like there have been alot of cases of LP lately. I worry about that with Maddie cause she is a jumper...it doesnt matter how hard I try or what I do, she'll jump from the back of the couch, off my high bed (instead of taking the stairs off) etc. We moved into a 2 story house and she just flys up the stairs.

It worries me!!!

i know i have been seeing a lot of cases of LP here..i didn't want to say anything after i found out because it is stage 1. But i just want Brooke to know she is not alone and there are more of us going through this and we are all here to support each other..we need a LP support group!

I too am feeling for you, it is really really hard when one of our baby's has Lp, let alone another at the same time..

does anyone have any suggestions on Joint supplements? i dunno which one to give..mine will not do pills so gotta be powder ones..

I totally understand! Both my adult yorkies have it too! Bella has grade 1, Sachi might have grade 2, I really don't remember.
They are doing well right now and I am going to start giving them supplements.

Omg... I'm so sorry to hear that. I didn't know that you were going through this. I had no idea Tumi has LP... nor did I know about Tatum! I'm really shocked. I will pray for the both of them. I hope it's not that serious. Please, keep your head up.
