Maya barks when she wants to play - go potty - or if nobody pays attention to her ( spoiled little butt :D ) ... other then that no. She does not even bark if there is somebody on the door. |
Bella only barks when she's out back and hears something on the other side of the fence, she's just being protective. We don't leave her outside so it's not a problem. She never barks inside, she'll "talk" to me when she wants to play but it's just a single quick muffled bark. We even took her to the sportsman show this past weekend and there were dogs all over the place and people testing animal calls (bird, elk, deer, etc) and she never barked once. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule but we've never had a problem:) . |
Tucker only barks if he wants to play. Also, when he is in his xpen and we are eating. I think it's because he can see us and wants to be with us. Sometimes, if he doesn't stop, I put him in his crate until we are finished eating and he stays completly quiet until I let him out. I carry him most places with me in a dog carrier/purse and he is so quiet that he is rarely noticed:) My sister's dog, on the other hand, barks and barks. She brought her home at 6 months and purchased her from a BYB, so mabe that's why? I didn't bring Tucker home unti he was 11 weeks and have socialized him as much as possible. I love love love my yorkie and wouldn't have any other breed..well mabe a boxer:D |
I think that's just a stereotype for yorkies, ya know, "Yappy Yorkies". Bailey rarely barks, and Maggie only barks when she sees squirriels, raccoons, and cats. :) Other than that, they're very quiet. Really!!! |
Whoops I meant she brought her home at 6 weeks |
LOL, like many others have already said, my Yorkie barks when I don't pay attention to her, but it is a bossy bark aimed at me, no one else. So its not random :) :) :) She barks sometimes when playing with Nappy, or if strange sounds but she is not a yapper by any means. My Maltese, on the other hand, barks the second she steps out the door to announce her prescence to the world. |
yorkies are not yappers! I have no idea who cooked this idea up. My little Roxy weighs just a bit over 3 lbs and when she barks it is at a someone at the door or at squirrels in the yard -- but she sounds like a big dog - she has the most incredible big dog bark. Bubba never barked until recently & he just turned 6, he has now decided he should bark to tell me he wants his favorite treat at night - a carrot. |

McKenzie doesn't bark a ton, except for while playing and on other dogs on walks, but it is definitely a high, shrill bark :) |
