I don't know how much longer I can take! As many of you know, Franklin has parvo and is being hospitalized right now. Tonight will be his FOURTH night away from me and it's really starting to take a toll on my sanity. I spoke with the vet earlier and she said that he wouldn't be able to come home until he could hold down some food. Well they won't even start trying to feed him until he is vomit free for 24-48 hours. The last time he vomited was around noon today. So that means... it will be at least tomorrow night, most likely longer before I can take him home. I know that staying in the hospital is to his benefit, I mean, how else would he eat? We're willing to wait and pay as much as it takes for him to fully recover. I just miss him so much. He is my baby and the house just feels so empty without him. He's just a little 5lb dog... how can he have such a presence? I'm tired of crying every night because I miss him. I had to take a Benadryl last night just so I could fall asleep. How many more sleepless nights until my baby comes home? :( |
Bless your heart, that has to be tough. I'm so sorry you and he are going through all of this. :( |
I feel so sorry for you. Can you visit him? If so, maybe they'd let you see him a couple times a day. Maybe it would make him feel better too. I know it must be awful. I'll keep you both in my prayers. |
my heart and many many prayers are with you and your baby. All of my babies and I will keep him in our thoughts and hope he makes a full recovery! They may be small, but our little guys really do have a lot of fight in them! |
awww, I am so sorry for you. Stay strong for Franklin. You are in our prayers and thoughts. :animal-pa |
oh honey! I feel for you. I can't imagine what your going through. I just hope your baby is home to you very soon and very healthy!! Hang in there. Just think of all the lovin you'll get when you get your baby home!! |
Aww, I am so sorry sweetie :( I know how you are feeling. Well, somewhat anyway. My best friends Yorkie had Parvo at 12 weeks old and was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. It was very, very hard on the poor little thing as she only weighed a pound and to be honest, she almost died several times. However, they took very good care of her at our vets office and they nursed her back to heath and today she is 2 years old and doing just fine :) I know it has got to be SO incredibly hard for you not having your baby there with you, but just try to think of it this way - he is in good hands and this is for his own good. You will see him SOON and in the meantime, just be so thankful that you caught it in time and that he is being treated and will be a happy, healthy boy when you bring him home :) P.S. - Can you go and visit him? We went and visited my friends Yorkie when she was in the "hospital" and it seemed to help alot :) She was extremely happy to see us, and vice versa :) |
I"M so sorry your going threw this prayers coming your way. |

I will be praying for your baby to get better real soon. I also will be praying that you have the strength to get through all this. :hug60: :ghug: |

ooooh i am sorry, sending prayers and lots of hugs and hoping he gets better real soon ! |
Praying your baby is home soon. I know how hard this must be. |
Prayers and hugs coming your way. Would the vet let you go and just hold and cuddle him for awhile every day? That would probably make you both feel better. |
Well friends, today is Franklin's fifth day at the vet. I called to check up on him earlier this morning. He did not vomit during the night, so the vet gave him a little bit of water. Well.. he drank it... and promptly threw it back up. (When I told the boyfriend this, he laughed and said "that's my boy!" :p) She gave him some medicine to help with the nausea and said that they would try and give him some water again tonight. It will most likely be tomorrow before they try feeding him... if he doesn't throw up again. I think at this point, I'm confident that he is stable enough to survive but we're still a little on edge. He just needs to start keeping down food and water. I'll be calling to check up on him later tonight and will keep you all updated as promised. PS. I called to see if we would be able to come visit him as I think some cuddle time would do us both some good. Unfortunately, because Parvo is such a highly contagious disease, he is in an isolation ward and I am not able to go see him. :( |
I am glad he is stablizing. That has to be so hard to be away from him. Praying he comes home soon. |
I sure hope your little baby gets to come home soon. I dont know how I would do it. Im sure hes going to be coming home soon though. Maybe you could go out and get him a little present for when he gets home. |
oh sweetie I know all too well your pain... I lost my maddy 2 yrs ago to this horrible disease and I tell you what if they would of let me sleep there on the floor I WOULD HAVE! I hope your baby gets better soon..... |
My heart sure goes out to you...I don't know how I would handle it either. Lots of hugs... |
OH I am so sorry to hear about your baby's condition . . . .I will pray he will be able to fight it and come home soon to full recovery. :( |
I really pray for a full and healthy recovery of your furbaby. Its hard knowing you can't physically be there for him. Your love and care is showing through your words. Praying for you and your furbaby. |
I am so sorry. This is my first time every hearing about this. I know exactly what your going through. 8 months ago I had a chihuahua that had to be on IVs for 1week before we had to put her to sleep because she was getting worse (they thought she would only make it a couple more days and I wanted to end her misery). I only had her for 4 days before she started showing symptoms... I knew her for less than 2wks but I loved her. SORRY, AGAIN! You are in my thoughts and prayers. |
So sorry you are going through this. i know how nerve shattering it can be. I think I wore a hole in our rug pacing back and forth until I felt as though I could call and check on her once more, without being a pest. When I finally got Tootsie home, I put a fleece blanket around her, and sat and rocked her all night. Pretty soon you'll be able to do the same with Franklin. Thinking about you, and hoping all will be well real soon. Janelles |
Sending prayers for a faster recovery .Hugs and Kisses to Franklin. |
