Normal behavior? I just got my Yorkie 3 days ago and he does something that seems unusual to me. He takes 1-2 bites of food (food bowl is in his xpen) and runs and jumps out of his pen and then goes back into his pen and does the same thing until he's done. I know it can't be good for him to eat like that I'm afraid he might get sick or choke. Did any of your yorkies do that? I probably should shut the door to the pen when he's eating or move the food bowls? |

Tessa does this as well although she isn't in a pen. She will grap a bite and fling it in the air, then chase it after and swat it with her paw, then eat it and run over to the bowl and do it all over again. |
Welcome to yt. Murfee doesn't do that but my last little baby boy did that his whole life. |
My Jewels who is 3 also does that |
Frimousse and Minnie are adults and do that everytime they eat . |
Magic does that and she is now 3..she will put a couple of pieces in her mouth and find a good spot to eat them and then go back to her bowl and get a few more and do the same thing until she is done eating. She has gotten a little bit better b/c we now have four in the house and if she takes too long the others will try and get her food. But is always so cute, she just loves to play with her food!! |

Lola does the same thing...it is hilarious to watch. She simply MUST play with her food...one piece of kibble at a time. Quote:

Are you feeding your dog on cold floor or on a rug? Teddi does this when I feed her on cold floor like her paws are cold so she takes the food over to the rug to eat it where it is warmer. |
Yep, sounds like Gizmo. I swear he has to "kill" his food before he eats it. |
