We just had a German member on another forum make a video and post it so we could have the correct pronunciation. It is pronounced Biva (Beeva) just like Diva...or...it can also be pronounced Bee-vair but the r is almost silent. It is not pronounced Beaver, Brewer or Byewer. |

I pronouce is Bee-va b/c i put it into an online translator to hear what it would sound like! |
Well, maybe it's different parts of Germany..I guess they could have different accents..All I know is I spelled the word, and he said how it was said..But, you have to realize, southern people pronounce words differently than people up north..like oil down here they say ole.. |
I think part of the difference in the pronunciation is also where you live here in the U.S. The only r is at the end of the word. It is not Breewer--the R is not at the beginning of the word. Whatever way we pronounce it, they are beautiful. |

I've been pronouncing it like "Beau-er" Now I'm going to have to train myself to say "beevair" LOL |
I studied German for 8 years and the German accent in the north is different than in the south....just like in the US. So there are bound to be slight variations in the pronunciations. For instance, I love you = Ich liebe dich. Can be pronounced ick lee-ba dic(k) but the proper German pronunciation is more like isch lee-ba disch, the second be less harsh to ear. I personally would also say it should be pronounced like bee-vair. |

Good Gravy! I have been saying buh var... i kinda like bi va.. hmmmm:confused: |
I think I'll just stick with my german yorkie..then, I don't have to worry about what the correct way is..:D |
LOL....Am I ever so glad I read this....I've been pronouncing it like "viewer" with a "b"...LOL. Tells you how much I know...never even heard of them until YT!!! I just love YT!!!:D |
FYI: In German, you pronounce "w" like a v and "v" like a w. You will often hear Germans having a problem with this when transitioning to English that is why sometimes they sound like they have a speech impediment. |
