Tessa is 4mths and can: Sit Down Shake Paw We are working on: Stay Come Seeing the other posts, we have alot of work to do! LOL:D |
speak play dead rollover sit crawl lie down dance come shake give high five wave bye bye bow stay a few rally tricks (come around, front, etc.) We started agility so she can jump over a bar and go through the tunnel We started to teach her to jump rope, but stopped cuz we thought that was hard on her legs. She was getting it though. |
Tucker is 3, and he knows: -Over (jump over something) -1,2,3 Up! (to jump up onto somethign) -Wave (sits on his back legs and waves) -Twirl (he jumps in the air and spins around) -paw -high-five -down -sit -fetch -stay -come -wait -heel etc. :) |
Cali is almost 2 and knows: -sit -lay -up (stands on hind legs) -bang (plays dead) -stay -leave it -come -go night night -get the toy -get the ball I should get her started on learning some more..She learned all of these within her first year... |
She will: Play dead, dance, roll over, shake hands, and sit up. Too bad she doesn't stay or come!:D If we have a treat, she will do all of these at the same time.:) |
Wow! What an impressive group. Did you all do any type of professional training, or did you teach your yorkie all of these tricks on your own? We just started our training and Cooper can come, sit and watch me. All learned in a couple of weeks. Not too bad, I think. |
sassy is 4 months old and can sit wait stand up speak when we got her at 2 months old we thought her to sit the first week and she was so cute |

how did you teach your yorkie all these tricks ?! :) :) |
Tricks your Yorkies do 3 Attachment(s) Maybe not tricks, but Miss Tricksie is tricky. She loves to take her treats and hide them from me and then comes and stares at me to find them, she hides them in the bed, under pillows, in the headboard of the bed, under tables, on top of tables, etc. if I can't find it right away she will give me a little hint by just going close to it. She also has toys that I have to supervise because she EATS them, will let her play with them for 15 min. or so and then I put them away in a closet. She NEVER forgets where they are and she will try to open the closet to get them. She can open the pantry doors to get her treats. |
My Samantha used to surf on a surf board!!! |
Roxie is 11 months old and knows how to: Sit Stay Down Stand Wait Come Leave it Take it Heel Go to Place (Goes to her bed and stays until released) Go out (Knows how to go around objects) Bang (Play dead) Roll over Paw Crawl Touch Bow Look Back up Spin Roxie loves learning new tricks. She has been going to training classes since she was 5 months old. |

OK I need to know how you taught the NO BARKING???? Please please??? |
Chachi sits, stays, comes, play dead, roll over, dances, lays down |
Zoe is 4.5 months and I've had her for about a week now. I taught her to sit on the first day and "go in your bag" (carrier bag) the 2nd day. She's just learning to lie down but will only do it for a treat, not on the verbal command yet, and she is just starting to learn dance. Next, I want to teach her stay and be quiet lol. D- |

a couple people are asking how these tricks were trained. Here's how i did it. roll over - start in the down position. using a treat in front of their face try to lure them over onto their side and then all the way over. If they do not follow with just the treat you can use your other hand to help roll them over. i did this a few times, then used just two finger to roll her over with a gentler touch, and then when she was getting it more, i switched to just one finger and a tap in the right direction, until i didn't need to touch her at all. She would just respond to 'roll over' and the finger twirl in a circle. play dead - again start in the down position. you can either use "bang" or "play dead" or whatever you wish as the command name. I use both as well as a gun finger hand signal. to teach the command i had to put her on her side or back and tell her to stay, after i said bang. so its bang, place on side, make them stay, then give treat. high five - have treat in hand between fingers. your hand is in the high five position about a foot above their head so they have to stand on their back feet to touch your hand. say 'high five' - They will usually run up to your hand and hit it with their nose or feet or both to get the treat. no bark - morgan came pretrained for this one thank god. when she was at the breeders and all the dogs started up the breeder would say 'thank you, that's enough' and a few seconds later they would all be quiet. I used to say 'that's enough' when morgan was a puppy every single time she barked to let her know it was not necessary to bark to get what she wanted. Now she NEVER and i mean NEVER barks unless we are playing. I now use the 'shht' sound of caesar milan to tell her to stop whatever behavior she is doing that i don't like. works like a charm. dance - this one is easy. hold a treat above their head to get them to stand on their hind legs. then move around alittle in their vicinity. it makes them dance around on their high legs. You can also add a twirl in there by moving the treat in a circle above their head. Morgan twirls now while on all four feet because i don't like her dancing on her hind legs because of her knees. |
Ziggy just turned one and he can do: sit stay speak come wait lie down kisses find..... (bone, named toy) high five shake a paw sit pretty roll over pound it (give 'props') come around (for when his leash gets caught around a tree, etc.) go to bed (crate) night-night (mommy's bed) leave it look |

Wow... Everyone is doing great with their pups... Very surprised to see the long list of commands for these dogs... I've definately got more work to do  At 10 mo's Meka can: Fetch Sit Come Down Stay Up Where's the Belly (she'll roll over on her back to get a belly rub) Get mommy (DH will tell her to get me & she'll search hi/low till she does) Go to bed Go potty on Pad (she'll go to her pad to use it) so....... yeah.... we still have a ways to go :) |
Oh jesus I am so behind. I just started the sit with her. I want to teach her all sorts of trick...any tips. |
I am waaaaay too lazy. I'm ashamed of myself. Adie knows sit and down but won't do either without seeing a treat in my hand! She plays fetch (which she taught herself) and she is starting to throw the ball back to us as she is returning it. (Also on her own.) She knows and obeys "quiet". That is about it. I better get busy and catch up with you guys. I know she is easy to train. |
Lillie does: Bang Play Dead Roll Over Lay Down Dance like a Ballerina Walk the red carpet - I have a long red carpet in the foyer and she will walk the entire thing without going down. Give Paw Sit Speak Give mommy a High Five -with one paw Fetch Knows the name of her toys and will pick it out if you tell her what to get Gracie, she is only 6 months so we are at: Sit Lay Roll Over Fetch We try to teach a new trick about once a month. |
Yorkies are very smart dogs and can learn just about anything if you presist. My Bell knows: sit, down, stay, come, put them up, and she hides very well when it is time to go to bed. Lilly know sit, down, play dead and bed time(she goes into her crate) Petey doesn't know many tricks, but he does sit and smile :D on command. |
Okay, looking at all these tricks I am jealous :p What do you think the #1 key is to teaching some basic tricks? I can say Yumi learned sit really quick...like a few minutes, and she now knows stay and come. But for other things I need to know how to isolate the lesson, considering her attention span :D |
