Does anyone know how to get a yorkie to fetch? I keep throwing the toys and the ball and showing her a treat and telling her to fetch but she runs over and plays with the toy and then runs back and sits hoping I will give her a treat. How do I get her to bring it back to me? I keep telling her "if you bring the toy back I'll give you a treat" but she hears "blah, blah, blah treat" lol |
I have never been a small dog person but I fell in love with Yorkies. Well one of the things I hate about small dogs is that they like to run from you. Most of the time its when you need to do something. Well I have tought Muffy to come let me pick her up. She does this everytime. All i have to say is let me pick you up and she comes running over. It has saved us lots of times. |

WOW. I've only taught my Lola how to sit and lay. How exactly can I teach her all of those amazing tricks (apart from giving her treats and being constant)? |
Maxi knows how to do: sit lay down come stay dance high five play dead roll over fetch bring the toy back drop it give a paw wait voice be quiet stand up on two legs take a bow beg wave knows the name of two toys and brings them (working on the rest) leave it off Go wee wee on command (that one is pretty impressive especially if its cold outside and you don’t want to be out for a long time) |

Tricks your Yorkied do 3 Attachment(s) They are so intelligent and understand what you say. "Let's get the mail", Tricksie bolts to the front door, "lets go for a ride", bolts to the garage, "get the lizzards" she runs to the back to go out by the pool. Just so many things it amazes me. From Yorkies to Maltese's, my Kojak was smart too. He loved my husband more than me and was with him 90% of the time, but Rod opened an animal auction and had to leave on Sat. mornings at 6AM and Kojak and I would go over around 10, he would jump in my arms to go see his Papa. One morning he pooped and I had to clean his bottom and when it got time to leave, he would NOT let me touch him, the fangs and snarling, he could really bit. I had to call Rod on the phone for him to talk to Kojak, he told him, "go with Mama, Kojak", he jumped in my arms and off we went. Some of you had heard this story many times, but he also started chewing his penis and we found out that Rod had prostate cancer and when he was cured, Kojak quit chewing. AMAZING ANIMALS!!! |
Yorkies are very intelligent. Toto can sit, lay down, sit up, dance, shake hands, turn around to be picked up, gets up on sofa on command, look for Callie (granddaughter). We need to start something new. My granddaughter taught Toto to shake hands in about 15 minutes one night. |
Chip knows: sit down stay (kinda) shake up dance Smokey knows: sit dance |
well chip is 12 weeks, and he can, pee at the bottom of the stairs, poo at the bottom of the stairs, chew everything, bite, ignore you, steal your underwear, run around like a loony and other random stuff...think we need to start teaching him we're so proud ^_^ |

I taught Buddy a trick that everyone loves to see him do. I hold my hand/fingers in the shape of a gun and pretend to shoot him (also making the sound of a shot gun)....he immediately falls over and pretends to be dead!!! It is sooooo funny!! He will do it over & over again!!! |
