Spoke with AKC today in re: Red Puppy Litter I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!! It is exactly the opposite of what I expected and read about...AKC is allowing me to register my litter! A YT member inquired as to what I was going to to about registering....now I can!!! I just have to send in 2 photos apiece of the liver and white ones from the front and side standing position with the registration form. They will let me know for sure afterward, but she said it has happened in the past that they accepted them (a liver/white Schnauzer puppy in a litter). I'll let you know for sure once the paperwork comes back. In the meantime, it is more than I hoped for! |
Congratulations |
Congratulations Congratulations. I am very excited for you. Have you posted pictures of the kids? I would like to see them. Wnalegria |

Congratulations- that's wonderful news. Your puppies are too cute- they won't be able to resist them!! |
1 Attachment(s) I hate to sound stupid, but I need to ask. What do the parents of your puppies look like?? And since you are probably going to be able to register these puppies I assume that they are registered Yorkies too! Don't get me wrong I think your babies are beautiful, I was just very curious. Oh and how old are your babies? My Bell had three babies and they are just a little over two weeks. |
1 Attachment(s) Your puppies are precious! Yes, mine are purbred, both parents AKC (father from championship bloodlines). It was just a fluke thing that happened (the color anomaly). I had never heard of red yorkies until the day mine were born (Memorial Day). My pups just turned 6 weeks old yesterday. The father is from a kennel and is shaved down (all but his head)...here is a picture of them. |
I love watching these little guys growing! |
Ok...Those pictures are just too darn cute!! If you ever need a baby sitter (Even though I am in NY) Just let me know!!! Thank you for posting them!! XoXoXo Fran and Sammi |

Thanks! I never get to go anywhere because of my pets!!! Luckily I live in a recreational area or I'd go nutz!!! |
Congratulations! They are just adorable! |
Red Puppy litter Please help me understand all this. I am an old lady. Until I found this forum I never had seen so many Yorkies of a different color. When did this start to happen ? Are there some lines that have a tendancy to produce color. (I used to have a cat that was of a breed called munchkin- Short legs like a daschaund.) I am amazed and would like to know why so many at this time? I did my reading on the Biewer but still have a lot that I would like to know about. Wnalegria |
:congrats: That's great. It is just an anomally but that's good that they are letting you register them. Why shouldn't they, parents are, right?. I think that we haven't heard a lot of off colors in yorkies because breeders didn't want to let people know that they would have "weird" babies, so I'm sure that some just culled them out of the litter  Years ago, that's what they did with white Boxer pups, but now people are a little bit more flexible, and they give these babies the same love they give their "regular" yorkies... |

I also own an off- color yorkie. She is a gold and white parti-colored yorkie and she came from AKC standard colored yorkie parents who both happened to carry the recessive gene for the gold and white color. Julz~I wonder if my little Chai looked like your babies when she was new? Her are pictures of her, her daddy and her mommy. |
Great news Julz!! |

If that isn't just one of the sweetest things! |
I feel stupid for asking, but are they for sale? I live in PA and I'm looking for a puppy as I write. |
The standard ones definetly are, I'm not sure if I am keeping the liver and white male, and I am keeping the female. |
Great news congratulations! |
Julz ~ Are your standard pups boys or girls? I love all the pics you post of your babies and the parents are adorable too. The Daddy looks so tiny, maybe the haircut. How big or the parents? Keep the pics coming!! :D |
Pups I have been at it a long time as many know. I had a stud service about 25 yrs ago and a female was born the most gorgeous chocolate color. I was not a club member at that time , but had a good friend who was..she called a few breeders and asked what they thought...all thought the pup should be destroyed...it was not my decision to make and I was happy the owner kept her. 4 yrs ago I got a blue male in a litter...I asked around again..some were still putting them down, but most felt it happens, find a pet home... my boy is in a pet home and very happy. There have always been non-standard colors, but more and more breeders are allowing them to live...plus, the Internet has changed the world..LOL we find out about these things much more. |
The "off color" yorkies are just beautiful and I would love to own one. |

Your puppies don't look red to me, they look blonde, which I have seen quite a few of those before. As you said, they are a fluke with the coloring, but are cute as buttons. You could never show them, they would be disqualified in the ring, but that does not make them any less loveable, or any less of a purebred. |

They were more red when they were younger; they are getting lighter. I call them red in the posts because that is how they started out and everyone knows which litter the thread is about. Here is a photo of when they were tiny. |
