Thank you for all your information..I will look for all these products you have mentioned and also for the brush. I always brush my dogs dry..I didnt know they should be wet...boy I seiously learn something new daily here on YT!! I wonder about stress too!! When I picked her up she had a VERY strong mediciney smell on her..I can actually still smell it a bit too..hmmm...I used Mane and Tail shampoo and I use the conditioner too but I have yet to bathe her.

Yes, thin hair can be linked to bad nutrition. Some dogs are able to do fine on the cheap dog food (which is filled with corn & byproducts) while others do not. Especially with our little dogs, it's important to get a lot of good nutrients into their food because they don't eat very much. She could also have some type of skin condition, allergies, or the thin hair could just be a genetic thing. Hopefully your vet will have an idea of what's wrong.

Yes we recued her a few days ago!! She is a shorkie (shih tzu yorkie mix) and she is about 5 pounds...just a good little girl and so happy to be out of where she was!!

she's a cutie! She's looks more shih tzu to me :)

Yes she has alot of Shih Tzu in her FOR SURE...although she has alot of yorkie features too...her little tiny feet and her face is longer than a shih tzu although not as long as a yorkies lol...she has tan colouring mixed in with her grey and her tail is docked....kinda long but docked and it tries to flip over her back like a shih...I think had her ears been shaved as a pup they would have stood as they are very small under all that hair but we really love the floppy ears..they just suit her!! She is just under 5 pounds and the exact same size as Soleil. Those two have really hit it off...Soleil humps her though???? Reece and her have their differences but its getting better...he has humped her a few times too?? Maybe she is in heat?? She is 10 months old so she could be..I dont see blood though..I will see what the vet says Friday..

Edited to add: We will be making an appointment to have her spayed asap for long term health...:)

Her ears are very cute! She could possibly be in heat, or it could just be the smell of a new female... Lacy is spayed and males always try to hump her..in fact, she almost got humped tonight! LOL

I dont notice her scratching or showing any signs of allergies but there could be a skin condition maybe. I am interested as to what the vet will say.

Ok thats good to know!! I didnt know that females humped each other though...it gives my kids a good laugh thats for sure but my guys know when I say NO they have to stop RIGHT AWAY...although she doesnt seem to mind..she puts her bum bum in their face and swishes her tail over trying to entice them!! Reece isnt as interested as Soleil is which I find bizarre..lol

Nutrition definitely plays a big part in their coat. Give her some of your good food and give it time and hopefully it gets better.

How nice of the lady to feed the cheapest food possible...for the love of god people need to be slapped.

I KNOW!!! When I asked what she was eating she stated it was the cheapest food possible as if that would make my life a little easier to know that..so that I wouldnt have to invest money into her...but the price of the high quality food is nothing really...a few extra bucks..big deal...they eat so little I think I can afford $30 bucks a month to feed 4 dogs...I spend that in two days to feed a family of 5 lol...

Yep I feed Zoey Merrick's. It's a couple dollars more than any of the other brands like Iams, Science Diet, etc. I know it's so worth the money. Saves on health issues and allergies in the long run. I want my baby to live as long as can be.

She probably thought it made her more appealing....like how they used to present kids in the orphanages (in movies)...yeah he is a healthy one, doesn't eat much so he won't be a problem to add him to your household. Meanwhile they are ringing their grubby hands at the adoption fees they charge for the placement...lol

Well since she is a rescue I would say it is most likely from a poor diet or skin problems she may have had before you got her. Only time will tell.
Put her on a good diet and you can try giving her some salmon oil, it is really good for the skin and coat.

Also I must mention, most brushes will scrape the skin. With dogs with thicker hair you won't notice it as much but it still scrapes the skin.
I would suggest getting a CC brush as it won't scrape her skin. Take the brush you have now and run it across you wrist. You will notice it will scrape and agitate your skin. The CC's brushes do not.

I usually use a comb and then a pin brush or a human hair brush...but Ill look into a CC brush on ebay..

Definetly I agree with how they thought it was great new for me that she wouldnt cost much to feed...:rolleyes: little do they know how great she has it now!!

She is sooo cute. She reminds me a little bit of Teddy. I would have fallen in love with her right away. I am thinking that somewhere down the road, I would like to take in a rescue. I'm afraid to look, because, I'd take them all if I could.
I didn't know that you were not supposed to brush them while dry, because I brush my little guys everyday.
Yes, you do learn a lot from the other Yorkie owners, they are so helpful.
