If I were you I would stop using the Advantix immediately. Itching is one of the side effects. Here is some interesting input on it:

:thumbup: Wow thanks for sharing this information! I do use frontline thou and so far so good but I use it only spring to fall when ticks and flees are in effect. I heard some dogs are allergic to that but I never knew it could cause sooo much other stuff:(

I use Advantage only when I have to. I have noticed that some of my Yorkies scratch a lot more after I put the flea treatment on them. I think excessive scratching is one of the side effects of all these flea treatments. I wish I knew of a good natural remedy but so far I have not found any that really work.

I would recommend a product by Halo called Dreamcoat. It's a supplement that you add to their food and it really, really helps the coat.

I would agree that you are probably drying out the coat. My 3 are doing fine with a bath every 3 months and they run outside and inside with no odor. I also feed them Spot's Stew by Halo (no dry food) both canned and homemade.

Yay! I also use Halo Dream Coat for my Yorkie boy. His hair was rough when I got him, now his hair is silky and he seldom scratches (only when almost for bath time). It really works!

One thing I use when i bath my yorkies is (50:50) distilled water and cider vinegar. I have found this has helped with the winter itchies as well....

Poor guy. Sounds like this itching problem is driving him crazy.

1. For immediate relief, try the Benadryl. Ask the vet how much to give. Or, maybe the vet has something stronger. If your vet isn't very helpful or blows you off, find another vet, sooner rather than later. You don't want this problem getting so out of hand that he scratches to the point of breaking the skin. Then you've got real problems.

2. Try Relief Shampoo. If I am unable to add a link here, just do a Google search on "Relief Shampoo" and you'll find lots of sites that sell it. Some vets even sell it. It is oatmeal based and very soothing and helps with itchy skin irritations. Be careful not to get it in your baby's eyes.

3. Make sure you rinse, rinse, rinse. That is very important.

4. Do you have a dermatologist within a reasonable drive? You need a vet who knows enough about skin problems to diagnose this problem and give you something to give your furkid relief.
