I swear if she peeeeeesssss!!! My little 14 week old stinker has this habit now of not going in her potty area and then right as soon as I turn my back in the house she goes!!!!! I'm a wreck watching her every move,... and if she stops in her tracks or sniffs for 2 seconds I wisk her off to the potty... I think I might loose the 5 pounds I wanted to loose just running up and down the stairs to the basement! (Her potty is in the basement till it gets warmer out) LOL I love her so much but the potty training you can keep!!!!! |
Can your little one get to her pee pad by herself if it is downstairs? Maybe she doesn't understand it all yet since it is not accessible? Just a thought... |
Are girls harder to train? Well we are not pee pad training her...Chewy my older boy goes out side in a pen. He has been fully potty trained since he was about 4 months old. She will go out side too but it is sooo bitter cold here that we have a pen with pee pads in our basement till it gets warmer. i take her down constantly and she was doing well... She knows that is potty but lately she has decided that peeing on my floor is far better! I put a pee pad down up in the house she can get to today but my husband is gonna kill me when he sees it. She just hasn't realized that she needs to hold it till she gets to the potty! I know it takes time... |
Oh, the joys of puppyhood!!! You'll probably lose 10 lbs by the time you're done. *_* I hope she catches on soon, potty training is the pits, I sympathize with you! One day this will just be a Memory! Good Luck!! |
I read on a thread that at 14 wks. Yorkies are barely learning to hold their bladder---1 hr. for every month. I always have figured that at the beginning I am the one who is trained. :) Good luck! Joanne :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :dog: |
Unfortunately, there's still quite a ways to go... Meka's 10 mo's and still has accidents and we've pad trained since 9 wks. Infact she has full run of the house and last night for some reason, she went downstairs and pooped on the pad then decided to finish on my living room floor. She does great 95% of the time... But, I've definately learned to be a little more patient because I love her and willing to do whatever it takes till she's fully trained :) |
Hi I was in the process of training Tootsie, when I decided she needed a companion. So along came Teddy. Now, I have two puppies to try and train. They both like to sneak behind the couch, when I am not looking, the crafty little monkies. Now Winter has set in, and today it is far too cold to let them out, so i have newspapers down, and sometimes they get it, and sometimes they don't. Everytime my daughter calls and asks what I am doing, I almost always have the same answer. Shampooing the rug. GRRRR They say there is no such thing as a bad dog, only a bad owner, and I think I am one of them. Oh well, we will keep trying. Janelles |
It might be hard for her to get down in the basement, if its possible I would put out a couple pads close to her access. Parker has one in the living room, kitchen, and in my bedroom and uses them all! Just a thought, I wish you luck in your pee pee training! |

When they are that young you really have to have the potty pads everywhere. At least 2 or 3 in a room when they're learning will help soo much. When I was raising puppies, if there wasn't a pad within like 10 feet of them they'd just go on the carpet. They knew to go on the pad, but when you gotta go, you gotta go. |

I wish you luck;) We still have little accidents;) Thank goodness they are so loved lol their pee however... not so much:D |
I agree about the pee pad being to far away. Their bladders are so small...when they have to go...they mean now. Could you have a potty pad in the same room with her until she gets the hang of it. Then slowly move it inch by inch. |
also...if Chewy's going outside now in the winter (did I read that right?) then let her out when he goes and if nothing else she'll see him go and might go too or at least know she can if she needs to. If Chewie doesn't go in the basement, it might be harder to understand that she should be going down there. |
I know you feeling Mi use to only use her pads now i don't know what the deal is.. when im not home she goes on her pad but when i am home she thinks ok here is good:rolleyes: .. I was like ok she is just a baby clean it and if happen to catch her in the act i clap my hands really loud to get her to stop and god if i can flippin catch her i bring her to her pad and i put her on her pad... BUT.. when she let it loose on my bed?!?!? That earned her stricked diaper time when its bed time.. So now im lookin for her some PJ's so she will leave the diaper alone LOL... Gotta love our babies:rolleyes: |
