Confused and Upset please help
 

Ok we have never been on a vacation with all our kids so my mother in law decides she wants to take us all (11 total) to Disney World in June she has a time share in Florida she is paying for everythign except gas. Ok that is great and exciting and all but i will have 3 furbabies that i just cannot and will not leave for 7 days i cannot imagine being away from them that long :( I am actually crying now just thinking about the thought of it. I don't know what to do because my kids are so excited and want to go so bad and hubby thinks it is a great idea. So now i am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I know it is still months away but it is killing me now:( I want to have that vacation with the family that we have never had but like i said i cannot and will not leave my babies behind. So what can i do everyone (my family) is going to hate me for this :( But i just can't help it for me 7 days is far tooooooooooooooooo long.

I completely understand how you feel. We have went to Disneyworld the last two years. The 1st time I went I cried and cried and cried but I went. My groomer kept my dogs and when I got home they were overly spoiled and just fine. If 7 days is just too long for you maybe you could fly out for 3 or 4 days then come back to be with your babies. We went last year with My Mother in Law and just had the best time. It was her 1st time being at Disneyworld with a grandchild.

It would be hard to leave them for that long of a time frame. Why can't you see if you can find a doggie daycare in the area that you will be staying and just take them with you? You have time to investigate dog friendly places in the area and show it to your husband and mother in law, once she sees that the doggies can still be included then she might see that it wont spoil any fun,and maybe you can just take them with you after all. I think they will be okay for 7 days. Try to find someone to take care of them if possible. I know our babies mean everything to us, but so do skin children. ;)

I was away from Baby for 10 days on a cruise. Luckily, I had my uncle to take care of her, but I thought about her day and night! I still had a wonderful time, though. I checked in frequently, and she was doing fine.

I have left mine to go to Disney several times. My husband is retired so he takess care of them. Do you have a close friend that will come to your home and stay all the timee? Housesit/ if not someone you trust could come in several times a day to let them potty and feed them and make sure everything is alright. Don't take them to Disney and kennel them in their kennel. It is near the park gate but if you stay in a Disney resort, you won't be able to keep them in your room even at night.

This is something I worry about as my husband and I continue to get more pets. I know he wants to be able to travel, but I don't feel (and he agrees) it is right to just kennel dogs for weeks at a time. However there is only so much you can do with a dog when you are on vacation, and that is assuming the dog can go. I hope you find a solution!

Just find someone you trust to care for your furbabies. You could even have them send photos to your phone so you can keep in touch.
I sure wanted pass up the chance to go to Disney.

When my daughter and her fiance leave their dogs, they either take them to a friend's house that know the dogs well, or they have someone stay at their house. As a matter of fact, my daughter had a friend here that would house sit. A good house sitter will take care of pets as well. Check with your vet or a college in your area. There may be a young person, college age, who would love the money and the chance to play with your fur babies. You have plenty of time to interview and check someone out. Good luck.;)

You have quite a bit of time to try and find someone to petsit for you. As much as you love your dogs, getting away like that sounds fantastic for you and your children. Honestly, your dogs will be fine as long as you find someone you trust or a good boarding facility. We get away every year for at least a week or two and even though our dogs miss us and glad to see us, they are always just fine when we return. I have 7 dogs and 10 birds and if I can find someone to come and watch mine, surely you can find someone for your 3. Hope you go and have a wonderful time:D

Darn! I thought I found your answer. I would go. I know it will be hard but I think you would really regret missing out on the Family memories

My hubby is also worried about the furbabies he has been racking his brain as well trying to figure out how to work things out. I seriously doubt the time share resort that she reserved will allow pets :( I am really considering doing some research on places that do that way i can find a great place for them during the day when we are in the park and then i can have them with me at night. I know i sound horrible saying this but that is the only way i am going to go well that or they will have to take me kicking and screaming because the only people i trust with my babies and the only people who woul take care of them for me are going to Disney to. I have went to Tenn. for 4 days and my husband and i had my ex-husband yeah that is what i said my ex-husband to house sit and stay with Skeeta and he done great but now that is just not possible he moved so far away he would have to fly just to get here and he couldn't take the time off work believe me i already ask :( thank you for those sites they may be just what i need :)

I probably would regret it but i am also worried that i will be so miserable that i will make everyone miserable :( And i have no one that i can leave them with for that period of time and i am terrified to board them anywhere for that long :(

So, you're driving to Florida? Well, I'm 1 1/2 hours from Asheville, and 1 1/2 hours from Atlanta, if you will drop them off, I will watch them, already have 4 inside dogs, what's 3 more??

I would HIGHLY suggest calling around to all the vets and groomers and kennels and daycares on your town and asking if they know of anyone who does in-home petsitting. I do that here in Chattanooga (a lot also just come stay with me and my furrbutts in my own home) and I can tell it's a huge relief for the owners. Your babies will get to stay in their own home with everything they know, and have someone there with them. it's kinda like a double whammy too. You get someome taking care of your babies and they don't have to go anywhere, PLUS there is someone there pretty much watching over your house for you as well! It can cost a little more than just boarding them at a kennel, but the piece of mind is well worth the money. Even if you find someone that keeps them in their own home, that is still a great option! Lulu (my second daughter as I call her) i a little Yorkie that stays with me so much, she actually looks kinda confused when her mom picks her up and I don't get in the car and go with her or something. haha That would be my suggestion. It's a great piece of mind and you will be able to go on vacation knowing your babies are safe and cared for! You even ask your vets if any of their vet techs would like some extra cash to petsit at your home for you. I have a friend who is a vet tech and will do it on occasion for some of the clients at her vets office. Then your also getting someone who has some knowledge healthwise and can be ready if an emergency were to happen. Sorry for the novel of a reply here...lol, but I know how you feel and I want to give you all the advice I can! The first time I left my guys I was devestated. I'm lucky when I stay with my boyfriends parents I take a few of and leave some with my parents or the groomer (a good friend as well!) that I work with. But once you find someone who you trust, you can actually go and relax and have a good time on vacation! Good luck and let us know if you find someone! I know how you feel about leaving your babies at home. We go to WDW every year and the first year leaving Daisy I was sooooo nervous and upset. I wanted to come home to her. We were lucky enough to have a family member stay at our home. She spoiled Daisy and sent Pix messages of her. I would also call every day to check on her. I still do not like leaving her but I know she is in good hands. Maybe you can find a family member to help out?

If not, WDW doesn't allow pets in the resort rooms but they do have kennels at different areas. Some are just daytime kennels but I believe there are a few that are for overnight boarding as well. Here is a link that contains pricing, pics & phone numbers:

Well, they don't call me the dog lady for nothing...My whole family loves dogs, between all of us, we have 40 dogs..:) Anyway, mine have full run of the family room, and if they have an accident, believe me, it's not going to hurt this carpet, I have the good carpeted rooms gated off, and my 4 dogs get along with all dogs..The shih tzu plays when she wants too, when she doesn't, she just growls to tell them to leave her alone...but, none of mine have ever no will they ever be allowed to bite another dog...

That is a very very very sweet offer thank you very much you are a sweetheart but i think my husband found the solution about 5 minutes ago he called the wonderful breeder that i adopted my Skeeta from she is truly a wonderful person and loves her babies as much as i do well she said that she would be more than happy to keep them in her home for 1 dollar a day per dog so 3 dollars a day which the cost isn't what i was worried about but it is nice lol i love it that she is a totally wonderful lady who is just amazing with the furbabies she is the one that took Bella in for us and kept her alive when she had that really bad spell (Bella's breeder was a joke she couldn't and wouldn't help) and she didn't charge us a thing she said she did it for the baby I have known her for 3 1/2 years well ever since i adopted Skeeta from her we have stayed in touched i have taken Skeeta down there just to visit and so that she could see how she was growing and i just really really really trust her i cannot believe i didn't think of this before but i think it is all going to be okay :) Also i just spoke to my oldest brother and he also volunteered to watch them for a week and he is great with them and they love him to death so looks like now i have two options YAAAAAAAAA Now it is the part if i can leave my babies for 7 days but it is 5 months away and i will have time to really think about it now knowing for sure that if i do decide to go they will be very safe very loved and very well taken care of but there is a plus to my brother watching them they are used to his home and all the babies are and will be used to him by them because we are always at his house visiting and he is always rolling on the floor playing with them he calls them his little nieces and nephews :D And he has a webcam so if i take my laptop and webcam i can see them and they can see me everyday:D


Now like i said i just have to see if i can be away from my babies that long or not:(

Thank you very much i am so glad that i am not alone in this. You are right i don't want my kids growing up thinking that way. And being that our oldest will be 18 next month she will be leaving to go to college in the fall and then out on her own and with her own family. So this might be the last chance that we have with all our kids to do something like this. I just don't want anyone to hate me or think i am a bad parent for feeling so worried about my furkids. But then again i don't want anyone to hate me or think i am a bad mommy for leaving my furkids behind that long. It is really a hard thing to do but as a parent you are right i cannot take this away from my family. Because so far it has only been overnight camping trips, A day at Holiday World or a night at the 4h fair. I didnt even notice where you were from untll you said Holiday wold. I am In Indiana also If your breeder watching them doesnt work out I would be more than happy to watch them for you. I live in a house and I have a fenced in front and backyard. They would be safe and happy here. I would spoil them rotten

Hey Dee Yeah i wasn't thinking earlier but my brother volunteered to take them in his home and he is great with them they love him and he loves them and when Sam comes i plan on making sure he gets to know him real well so all my babies will be happy even though i will miss them i know they will all be safe WOW i am actually starting to get excited about going :D I have always wanted to go to Disney i guess 32 years of waiting was worth it lol

Wow i didn't notice either we live in the same state lol So where bouts do you live in Indiana? If something happens and it doesn't work out i might be contacting you if you are sure that it would be ok? It would be nice to know that i have another option if the others were to fall through for whatever reason it would also be great to know someone in Indiana that is nutts about the furbabies as i am :D

Wow not far at all i am in Ooolitic which is just south of Bloomington we go to Indy all the time:D Oh but i forgot to mention the three babies are 2 yorkies and 1 minpin i know some people are afraid of minpins :eek:

I am not afraid of mini pins. Just let me know I am home all the time except for 2 days when I work for 4 hrs.

Oh wow that is great because my brother works 8-10 hours a day and i hate the thought of them being left alone that long of a time. And the breeder is a wonderful woman but they would be in kennels probably more than i would prefer if they stay with her. How much would you charge? Because i would want to pay you for doing this for me that is for sure.
