Do U Feel Bad When You Bathe Ur Baby? Roxy absolutely hates baths... And anytime I get close to her face she freaks out!!! I dont even have to use anything but as soon as water gets near her face, she goes insane!!! I try to get all the soap off... and it turns into a big mess of me just trying to get it all off... I dont know what to do, cause I am afraid she is swallowing a lot of the water or even maybe inhaling it!!! It scares me!!! As she shakes off she has some of those backward sneeze things... that sound like a terrible cough from the throat... Does anybody else have this problem, or does anybody else's babies do that after they get out of the bath??? My Chihuahua, Chico does it, but not as bad... |
TOTALLY!!!!!!!!! I feel like I'm torturing them. They just hate it - and Marcel HATES the blow dryer. |
Juju just shivers and acts scared. I feel awful. She looks pitiful. |
LOL. Ellie doesn't like it either but I'm over it.:p My dog will not stink and I save my guilt for the vet's office. I would be nervous if I thought she was inhaling or swallowing water though. |
I learned this trick years ago on another dog forum. Take a mustard/ketchup bottle and fill it with water. Use that to wet and rinse her face. You can direct the stream so she doesn't feel like she is being "water boarded", plus she won't have to deal with the sound of the sprayer. |
Have you tried showering with your furr baby? I hold her on my shoulder like a baby, so I can tilt her head back. I know it sounds crazy, but it really calmed her. Now, she isn't nearly as scared, and she will jump in with me given the chance. |
I dread bath time lily hates it, she tries to get out, shivers and yelps like you a beating her to death. |
1 Attachment(s) Aw...! Pikko doesn't do reverse sneezing, but he does freak out and cry. My sister and I have to both bathe him or who knows how many injuries he'd have with all the kicking and squealing he does! We constantly pour warm water over his body so the room temperature air doesn't seem so cold. We do cover his ears when we're pouring some water over his head to take off excess suds. He is a naturally-born cry baby, I tell ya! Check out this picture of him after his bath...he's shivering! Looks like a totally different dog: |
Do you bathe her in the sink? Perhaps you could lather her body and legs then rinse them off and save the face for last. Do you use a spray to rinse her or a cup? Try using a spray if you already don't because the spray is light on them. Buddy is big and I have to bend over the tub but I stay away from his throat area because if I touch it he will do that backward sneeze and seems to gasp for air and I get nervous. Bud's not thrilled with bathes either and hates his face washed. He gets into the corner farthest from me and I darn near break my back getting to him. I guess most of them just don't like being bathed. But when he's done he loves running around the house. I know he knows he looks good. |
Milo hates it too. I tried something diff recently. I filled a dish tub with warm water, a squirt of Dr Bronner's Lavender soap, a tsp of baking soda and melted a small bit of coconut oil in there. I put him in and just kept running the water over him from a cup. When he was good and wet I massaged him instead of the usual scrubbing. He loved it. When I was done, I moved him into the free part of the sink and rinsed him with a big cup of warm water and some AC Vinegar, slathered on the conditioner and gave him a good rinse from the sprayer. He has never looked so good--- the comb went through with little to no troubs at all. He looked just bathed for a good 8 days. Unheard of! |
1 Attachment(s) This is Roxy's first bath she ever got right after I brought her home. She is still as teeny, a bit more hair... She's my little baby furbrat. She looks pitiful, and adorable at the same time... Nothing to her when she's wet. Attachment 186142 |
I feel bad when I bathe Jewels because she shakes and she really doesnt like her face rinsed Chachi doesnt mind baths though |
I feel bad because he doesn't like it, but I don't feel bad for bathing him. I always tell him "There are a lot of dogs in this world who wish they could get a nice bath like this!" lol. |
I always feel bad cause you can literally see the anger in Meka face after she's been bathed... then she shivers like crazy and usually doesnt want to be bothered until she's completely dry..... She just doesnt like baths |
I feel bad because they shiver so bad. I hate to see that. Autumn actually likes the blow dryer (which is a surprise because she is so nervous) but Blaze hates it. He is running in air when I am holding him trying to get him dry. I love they way they both rub themselves all over the floor after their bath!:aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
