Sharing Spittle Do you let your Yorkie eat off your silverware, the exact one you happen to be using? I will let you all answer before I convict myself. :) |
All right. I'm guilty of it. And I always get the eye rollings from my boyfriend when I do it. Someone here please admit to it so I don't feel so bad! |
I admit it!!! :D |
I do admit,,,,,, I do it too. But you think that's bad??? My daughters share their water with Gus as well. They take turns drinking out of the same cup. |
Once in a while, we'll give Yoda something using a fork we use. But he's so gentle with it, he like never touches the fork or silverware. ;) Yoda has his own plates for food and water, and he's quite content with it. They are big plates too, like 8 inches diameter each I think. :p And hey, if you share spit with your Yorkie (ahem, we won't name any names here), nothing wrong with sharing spittle! |

Everyone thinks I am psycho old lady with her little dog in my family so I have to say of course we share silverware. Really what's the dif? When he kisses me he almost frenches sometimes so I am thinking there is a lot less exchange on the fork rather then the surprise tongue in the mouth... |

On a side note, he tosses his food a bit (tossing kibble around to get to the chicken), and a bigger plate SORT of alleviates that problem... |
i don't personally, but my hubby does they lick the same ice cream and everything but i think it's cute :) |
I do that all the time!! :D |
Yup, we all do it here, all of it. So dont feel bad. And see what I said WE all do it, Hubby, kids and me. |
A little over a year ago when I got my first Yorkie, I said I would never, never, NEVER, kiss the dog on his mouth or let the dog kiss my mouth. What can I say? Things change. They are as much my children as my children are. I know what they lick and if they are doing that just before they want to kiss, then I refuse, give it time for me to forget or if I don't see it, well that's a different story. LOL I have shared an ice cream with them, and they take the food off my fork very daintily. But let me tell you! That looooong tongue goes into my mouth or up my nose and they wonder what happened. I will kiss and kiss and kiss but when those tongues go where I don't want them I yank those babies away from my face and say NO! Actually that's not working too well, guess I'm going to have to startle them. At meal time we have a very bad habit of letting the dogs lick the dishes after we eat. Some of it's not all bad tho, the kids use paper plates and those get thrown away. HA! Sylvia |

Well Im guilty too. We have 2 of our yorkies that takes a bite of food right from my lips. My wife lets our Daisy Mae drink out of her glass. |
I am so guilty and everyone says "yuck"...and then I go on to exaplain that she is prob. cleaner than most kids are. So I am not bothered by it, she is my baby, and I don't mind one bit! |

You don't see ME in this pic cause I was too busy falling out in a chair panting in the heat.... after mowing the lawn. I patiently waited for BOTH girls to finish getting a nice cool drink that was susposed to be for ME...the Lawn Mowing Mom. :D I figure they were really tired & Thirsty from all that waiting and watching at the window while I worked. |
My Australian Shepherd, Indy, has shared quite a few ice cream cones and popsicles with me. I would let Roxy but we're still trying to get her to eat her puppy food! |
Are you kidding? Nothing is off limits - silverware, plates, cups, glasses - just like my kid (when he was little and now that he's grown) just less slobbers in the glass (when he was little and now that he's grown :p ). We even share food, i take a bite and she takes a bite, she eats a hamburger just like we do! She's kinda picky though - won't eat just anything, hates peanut butter too! |
Sammi loves to eat off the silverware!! :) She jumps on the kitchen table and eats all the leftover crumbs when we are done with dinner!! :) |
Well I would be quilty if I gave Luigi people food. But he has yet to have people food and hopefully it will stay that way!!! But If I have a glass of water-- Luig loves to drink out of it!!!!!! And steal my ice coobs!!!!! ;) |
My whole family is guilty. We have Annabelle and Abby(mastiff mix) they eat off our silverware, and like our icecream cones. I thought it was groos when I met my husband he would let his black lab eat and drink out of the same plates and cups, but after awhile I got use to it. After all they say their mouth is cleaner than ours. |
yes Yes i do this too.Neo loves ice cream. Heather |
Me too! I admit! |
Ok, I have to confess that I have always thought that people who kiss dogs on the mouth are nuts! I was always yelling at Megan for kissing Rusty. then we got Tucker and I kiss him all of the time. We went for ice cream one day, and I asked for an extra spoon so he could have a taste. (Thought I was being smart here) I stuck his spoon in my ice cream and gave it to him. He licked and licked until it was gone. Then I took the spoon he just licked and stuck it back in to my ice cream to give him some more. It took like 3 times before I thought about what I was doing and grossed myself out! Of course when I told Megan she couldn't understand why I was grossed out! But hey, I'm the same lady who didn't even like dogs, and didn't allow Rusty in my bedroom. (Now Tucker sleeps in my bed, next to my pillow) I've come a long way! |

You have come a long way indeed. Yes you are one of us now, lol. ;) |
I share ice cream bars with our yorkies. I also let them eat off our plate when we are done. |
Same here. I let them eat and drink from the same fork/cup. I think of them as my own kids as though I birthed them myself. You'd let your own kids do it so why not them right? |
I don't let Coco because I don't want her to beg for food. My food is mine and hers is hers. She doesn't eat off my fork/plate/cup just because I don't want to teach her bad habits. I wouldn't mind sharing ice cream or something with her. I'm just too afraid of bad habits starting. |
