Terrible News!!! Advice?!?!

My little Chompers... I might not be able to get him... :(
I just got a call saying my pay was going to be held back because something happened in transit with the computer system... I wont be able to get my paycheck until the following paycheck...
To top things off, my sister fell, (she has a brain tumor), and may have to go to the hospital...
I was supposed to go see Chompers this weekend, and put a down payment on him for them to hold him...
All I have is whats left in my account... Like 60 dollars, and I'm supposed to give them $200!!!
I don't want them to think I am irresponsible or that I can't afford him...
I asked my father if he could forward me the money, but he is on a limited income and has cataracts and needs surgery... he said he could send me the money, but not for 2 weeks!!! So then I might as well wait for the check!!!

I feel hopeless...
I can't help but cry just thinking about it...
I really want Roxy to have Chompers... She needs a playmate so she isnt sad anymore... I hate when I'm doing something and she looks at me with those... "I'm so lonely" eyes...
She really misses her Yorkie friends she was raised with...

Anybody have any suggestions???

Oh No Iam so sorry, Is there anyone else, a freind or another family member who can help you out untill you get paid, sorry about your sister:( wishing you the best.

I've never heard of a paycheck being held until the next paycheck...something doesn't sound right there.

I would say this is a time to put your energy into positive thoughts and be creative to get by. Do you have anything you can sell or a jar full of change you could cash in?

I told them that too, that I thought it was ridiculous. They said we have to send all new time sheets in to them (its a work at home thing, I take care of my sister)... and then they have to be sent again, and the checks have to be cut and sent to us.
I can't ask my Mom she works through there too...

can your work not give you a cash advance and take it out of your next paycheck, especially since they are the ones that screwed up?

Thats a good question Lacy... I will ask them first thing tomorrow... But I am sure everybody would want one if they could. I dont know if they even have cash there, or cut checks... I could always ask though, it doesnt hurt does it??? The only thing they can say is Yes or No...

Can you tell the breeder what's going on? Maybe they can hold him with a $50.00 deposit for 2 weeks.

I have been thinking about this... Just telling them I will give them what I have... Its a great idea... But.. I am afraid that they wont accept it... or try to find someone else for him...
I really adore him, and I am going to pay for the rest of him once I get my tax return, cause I know it will be HUGE....
I've worked my butt off all year!!! which is why I dont understand why this is happening right now!
But... I mean, if I dont figure something out, I will have to ask...

probably depends...they might be able to write you a check that you can cash. Some smaller business owners will give cash advances though

Since you've already put a deposit down on your little one, the breeder may be willing to wait 2 weeks. It won't hurt to ask...things to happen. My breeder held on to my little Kaylah for 3 weeks due to me having to travel for my job. Just ask...you never know. A lot of breeders have really good hearts and are very compassionate. Hope everything works out for you and I'll keep your family in my prayers.

Call the people that have the puppy, and say that you can't come get the puppy this weekend as you just found out your sister has cancer and you need to be with family.. And ask to make arrangement to come get him at the time your check should be in.. Or look for another way to try to make some quick money by selling something you own that you don't need, or don't use..;)

Actually Kaylah, they are really nice.... thats the problem...
I havent put down a deposit yet, I was supposed to go over this weekend... Its an hour and a half drive...
And I will have to put gas in my car... so that will leave me with only about 60 dollars...
They have been holding him WITHOUT a deposit, thats how NICE they are...
But if I dont have the money this weekend, at least the 200 I am afraid they are going to think I am taking advantage of them and just tell me forget it.

can u get out a loan.. a payday loan... or maybe pawn something.. i know it sounds drastic but if you REALLY want him and have no other means.. this could work

Unless you have some way to come up with the money I don't see how there is any other choice other then letting them know what happened with your paycheck and asking them to hold off 1 week. Would they accept a post dated check?

This is a very hard situation. I am praying for you and your family and also for the puppy, You have to make sure that you are financially stable once you bring him home to give him the care and the vets bills. Please be possitive and talk to your company. They might be able to help you.

Just so everybody knows... My sister didnt just "get" cancer... She has had it... She just fell today though as a result of the tumor pushing on her brain, she lost her balance...
So its not like it just overwhelmed us all at once... She has fallen before, but this time she took quite a tumble... one where she has to have her head checked to make sure that she is okay, and didnt cause any damage.

Give them the phone number to your job to verify what you're saying.

Here's my suggestion...Honesty is the best policy..Tell them exactly what happened, if they won't accept what you have to tell them, then it's not supposed to be..things always work out the way they're supposed too

Well, I'm pretty sure that it is illegal for your employer to hold your paycheck for any reason. They are obligated to pay on time. Here is the link with a legal explanation of your rights. I would print it out and nicely explain to them that you have a legal right to your paycheck. Sometimes, these things can be expedited once your boss is aware of his/her responsibilities!!

I would call and be honest, offer your employer phone number and contact name. Also offer to send them something even $40 would be better than nothing. I wouldn't get a "payday" loan - the interest is like robbery. If they have been good enough to hold the puppy so far, and you make these efforts, most likely they would wait a couple more weeks.

Computer problems with payroll do occur even with major companies and within the banking system itself. My son is a rural postal carrier and his first check in Dec. wasn't issued because of computer error. At first he was told his backpay would be included in the next check.....then they did finally issue a postal money order for a portion of his pay.

Also one time, my husbands direct deposit wasn't credited to our account because of the banks computer glitch.

Well, mistakes do happen, that is unavoidable. However, it does seem unusual for the company to not correct the problem as soon as possible.

I never planned on lying... lol...
I just wanted to know if anybody could think of anyway for me to get some quick money...
Of course I wouldnt lie... I dont know why anybody would assume that...
I'd be honest even if I came up with money or didnt...

I think I figured out what I will do. Tomorrow I will tell her my situation...

HHA! You said exactly what I decided... 1. If they arent okay with it then I just wasnt meant to get that baby... 2. If they are mad because of my reasons, they they arent necessarily ppl I want to deal with anyways, especially if I'm driving that far to pick him up.

So, I will be honest tomorrow. I am going to tell her, and then I am going to tell her I can give her what I have in my account, and when I get the rest it will be sent via PayPal.

Then when I get my income tax return, I will pick him up, pay him off, and bring him home...

I'm sorry, I didn't mean at all to imply that you would be anything other than honest. That was a bad choice of words on my part. I really meant that you should just contact them and try to make other arrangements. I didn't want you to have to worry about coming up with $ quickly and they might be more understanding than you think.
