Agg I wish people would stop buying puppies as xmas gifts... There is a guy here at work that I know who did this. Now he is asking if I would be interested in buying Niko because they are too busy and can't/won't want to deal with the potty training stuff. His wife gets annoyed with the nonsense. I explained housebreaking and the benefits of the use of an XPen...went in one ear and out the other. They have only had him going on two months....never mind giving him a chance. Pisses me off because everyone that informs themselves about puppies and yorkies in specific knows that it takes time to housebreak them. I can just spit I am so damn mad. When will people learn that a new puppy is not a toy but a long term damn commitment. He gave that dog to his wife and three children (7, 6, and 1). He says he paid x for the dog and wants x. If I hadn't bought Zoey so unexpectedly I would buy him to just not have his little world turned upside down. Sorry guys I just needed to get that off of my chest. |
People dont think sometimes they see the gesture as being good but dont really consider the hard facts that having a puppy is like having a baby and they need love and attention all the time and to be cared for 24/7 i dont understand people they really should think before they do somthing as important as this:cry: |
I really hate when people buy dogs like its the latest must have "gadget". Just like the new gadget they don't learn how to use it:mad: :thumbdown |
Oh God I know...this pisses me off. Or getting ANY animal for Christmas for that matter. People dont think before they realize how much responsibility these little one are! |

Any chance of you buying the dog and rehoming? Consider it a rescue...? |
That is terrible!!!! :( Not fair to that sweet baby at all! |
Christmas gift I very much agree that puppies should not be given as gifts to people who have not thought it through. That being said, I got Ms. Lexie as a Christmas gift from my husband and she's the best thing that's ever happened to me (besides my husband ;) ) We had been talking about getting her for two months and even made the decision to move to a pet friendly place to get her and risk double rent for a few months! We bought her the Sunday before Christmas and having her on Christmas Day with all my family was the best gift I've ever gotten. I hope that poor, neglected baby finds a furever home soon! |
some people appreciate them as a gift and realize its work but well worth it..martini was a bday gift for me this yr and everyone knew i wanted a yorkie and when i saw her i knew i was gonna have to get her and sure enough every1 gave me money as a bday gift so that i could get her..i love my family and friends and my boyfriend because if it wasnt for any of them i wouldnt have martini and life without her isnt possible im too attached and love her to pieces |
I agree! My boyfriend wanted to buy Pikko for me for Christmas, but I told him 'NO!' I'll pay for it myself. Pikko is a companion, not a gift. I wanted a yorkie anyway, so said I'll pay for it. |

Would love to. I thought about doing that and giving him to my dad. But the thing is that I am in the hole. Buying Zoey was not in the plans but I couldn't manage to be baby less when I lost Lulu. |
well do u know how much cause i may know some1 and since ur in queens its not far from bk...u have info and pics? |

If it's planned and you consider the situation your bringing them into then that is fine as a holiday gift but not a whim gift becasue they are cute or your passing a pet store. Those girls have had time to bond already with the pup so it's unfair to remove him from the home. But then again I guess maybe it's better all around if he goes to a home where he will be loved, doted on and come first. |
thats so sad for that little pup. i bet he is getting yelled at a lot for making pee mistakes too all becuase the owners werent prepared to train properly :( and it makes me mad that they want to sell the puppy instead of adopting it out. seems like they just want their money back for THEIR mistake without any concern for the wellbeing of this pup. i hope the little guy gets the home he deserves... |

I know that Niko was 5 months and and 5.7 lbs. He just got his second set of shots. Will get pictures. That is a bit old to be now getting his second set of shots. I think that he had originally told me he wanted $700 for him since he paid $1200. I want to see how much more info I can get as well on the breeder etc. He got the pup somewhere in Bklyn. |
really i wonder if it was puppy boutique...its a place here in bk that sells small breeds...hmmm thats odd bout the shots martini is 6mts and is up to date..please find out im curious and would love to see pics |
I even see ppl on here all the time who say... My bf or whoever bought me a Yorkie and now I dont know what to do and blah blah blah... The simple fact is, as with ANY dog, you should research the breed FIRST!!! You will need to know these things to know if you can take care of one and handle the work you have to put into it... SECOND... If you want to buy your significant other a dog... or your child... ESPECIALLY A YORKIE... Make sure they are going to have the time for it, and check around... TOO MANY PPL buy from ppl that they have no idea, they just think theyre getting a good price on a dog... And they dont know what to ask for... I hate inexperienced & uneducated pet owners... Big :thumbdown to them!!! |
I am raising a puppy (Bella) because of that same reason my daughter 17 (18 next month)kept saying she wanted a yorkie because they are so cute and we told her no over and over again but of course she didn't listen and told her boyfriend and he got her one for christmas and at first i thought she was gonna be a good mommy boy was i wrong i am the one who feeds her cleans up her puppy accidents and takes her to the vet i am even potty training her when my daughter is home (hardly ever) she sees her for about 15 minutes and she is done with her and the sad thing is Bella misses her because when she does see her she goes nutts barking and crying for her to pick her up and to be honest it kind of hurts me because i am the one who does everything for her and is always with her and she doesn't act that happy to see me but then again maybe it is because i never leave her i am always with her and she with me :D |
Awww... That is so sweet... Don't worry, Bella will miss you if you leave... Roxy goes CRAZY if I leave her with my Mom for a little bit because its too cold or I have to go somewhere she can't go (GRR!!!) She gets so excited, she screeches and freaks out... Even if she just sees me put my shoes on and get my keys, she freaks out because she knows it means I'm leaving... I feel so bad when I have to leave her... She misses her Daddy, but not as much ... lol. When we get to his place, she knows it, and she jumps up right away onto my chest from the passenger seat & looks out the windshield because she knows he'll come out to get her... she is so smart! |
awwww maxs i know what u mean bout the dog wanting some1 else...funny thing is im the opposite martini stays with her dad (he has his own business) so shes with him all day and when i get home shes happy to see me like 5 mins and then runs to him and i get upset and swear she dont love me and my boyfriend thinks im nuts he says cause she is with him all day an he plays with her..meanwhile i not only play wit her i spoil her but i also am the bad cop when she makes accidents i yell at her and punish her so she knows and he dont so thats y i think she loves him more and wants to be with him when he isnt around she wants to be with me and sometimes she thunks she hears his car and runs to the door yet it isnt him and it breaks my heart that i must be doing something wrong cause she dont show me the love like him Quote:

AWWW I feel so bad for the pup..He isn't getting the Love, attention and training that he so desperately needs at this time of his life, I'm sure ...HOW SAD :( |

I do all the punishing and I think thats why when we are at my bf's that she wants to be with him, because he always makes me be the "bad guy"... He just spoils her all the time, as do I, but when it comes down to her doing something bad, I correct her, and then he scoops her up and says something like... "Is Mommy being mean to you baby?? Daddy'll love you up" IT INFURIATES ME!!! THEN HE GIVES HER A TREAT AND SAYS... "Mommy, you hurt Baby's feelings!!!" ... I have no words to describe my anger!!! But ya know what... I know who means the most, cause just like a baby... when she was sick, all she wanted was Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!!!! She wanted nothing to do with him when she was sick, she would look at him go lick his face, and come back to Mommy, she wanted to stay right beside me and have me rub her and love her... Just like a baby... HAHA SWEET REVENGE!!! Roxy DOES love her Mommy... Mean Mommy & ALL! |
well im glad im not the only 1 that feels like this and feels like my baby dislikes me...meanwhile ya she runs to daddy but it still bothers me lol im the mommyyyyyy when it comes to others she knows but when its him n me forget it she will leave me in the cold lol [QUOTE=MommysBabyRoxy;1678283]This is my boyfriend EXACTLY!!! |
Just wait, one day she will be under the weather or just having a miserable day, and she'll want da Momma! |
Seems that the dog is too jumpy (hello puppy that is happy to see you...duh), too much time to work with him (wife just got a part-time job)....ack. The pup is from a breeder out in Coney Island. Waiting on more info. Will post when I get it. |
awww thanks that made me feel better Quote:

When it comes to attention of course they want it from the one who "pampers" them and gives them treats and is always nice... Just like a little kid, if they want something, they go to the "nicer" parent to ask... But when they're sick, they want the one who takes care of them & always makes sure theyre alright... When Roxy had an ear infection, she was so mad when I had to put the meds in her ears and stuff... But my bf refused cause he didnt want her "mad at him"... BUT... When her ears started to feel better, I knew she knew it was because of me being "mean" that made her feel better... Now she is closer to me than ever... |
thats putting it nicely :thumbdown Quote:

It\'s a shame that some breeders and stores that sell puppies make puppies available to make money. I\'ve looked at many reputable breeders a lot post here on YT and will NOT SELL PUPPIES around Christmas time:eyeballpc |
