Did anyone name their baby before they brought them home? I'm picking up my baby girl this weekend and for the life of me I can't decide on a name. I just stare at her picture and can't think of anything that will fit her. Was it this hard for you guys? Do I need to wait to get her home and put a name with her personality? This shouldn't be this hard. I like Bella but I think its way to common. I like Duchess but my husband doesn't like it. My husband likes Gia but something about that name doesn't click with me. She's going to be a small girl, I want something soft and pretty. Any suggestions? As of right now her name is no name. |
I had Gizmo's name before I brought him home, but I was lucky enough to meet him when he was five weeks old and visit with him every week until we brought him home. I was able to get to know him and learn his personality a little. It was difficult to think of a name. I had this huge list of names and had them narrowed down by his 9th week to about 5. Then, when I went to see him and tried the names out on him, Gizmo seemed to be perfect. :) Congrats and good luck. :D |
Lol... I had Roxy's name picked out 3 years before I had her... My Mom watches One Life to Live... and I dont really watch it, but everytime the one character Roxy (the beautician) was on, I just loved her... She made me laugh so hard, and I just loved her and her name... So, thats how I got Roxy's name... and I knew I wanted a Yorkie... and 3 years, and a lot of research later... I got me my perfect little baby girl!!! Plus the new puppy I am getting I think I had Roxy for about 4 months, she would have been 10 months at the time when my boyfriend and I heard something on South Park... A "weird" version of Kyle was walking around the town saying... "CHEWY CHEWY CHOMP!!!"... lol, so my boyfriend and I said, thats what we should name a boy if we get one... And we'll just call him Chompers for short... so ... we've had that name for about a year now... and now we are just going to get Chompers. |
We haven't even looked at a puppy yet and my children 11 and 9 are already voting on the names they want ;) We know we want a girl so they have their list of girl names....they have narrowed it down to 3....Sophie, Molly and Chloe but we will decide for sure when we pick one out and see what fits her. |
We had Cosmo named picked out the day we brought him home. HOWEVER, we have a new lil man that after 2 weeks is still unnamed! Only becuase we want something that has a catchy shortened version. For example, I love Bentley and sometimes I call him Bennie. My husband doesn't like Bennie. I always like for his papers Bandie's Magic Jumpin Jaxon. But we are not crazy about Jaxon. Like for when you call him...Jaxon, Jaxon, Jaxon hard to say :( I feel your pain...and so does my new lil man (maybe we will call him "Unamed in Fresno" ha ha) |
I was actually planning on getting a boy and I had boy names picked out. Well when i got a little girl I couldn't think of any names so we sat in the family room with her and we started giving names out loud as soon as she heard "BELLA" she turned her head and looked at us! haha that's how we picked her name out. |
I've had the name London picked out for my next yorkie girl for the past two years...and I probably won't be getting her for another three and a half! But that will be her name |
To MyFairLacy... I just wanted to know if you were the same Lacy that is on Roxy's friends list on MySpace... Also... to everyone else... Does anybody else here have a MySpace for their Yorkies or other breeds??? |
Bella has a myspace here it is myspace.com/bellaboop219 |
Susanah's name was originally going to be Rosa Bella Grace and I was going to call her Gracie-Belle. But that name just didn't fit her at all. So she became Scarlet Susanah Belle and that name fits her to a T! |
i had morgan's name picked out before i got her AND i have my next little boys name already picked out. :D |
I picked out Zoe's name before I picked out Zoe :) I knew I wanted a girl and my mom, sis and I were coming up with names and one of us came up with Zoe. Fortunately, when I met her it seemed to fit so I hope she will suit it (I pick her up next Friday). :) |
I named my girl just after she was confirmed to be mine. I chose both her registered name and call name before I even met her for the first time. Her paper name is xxx worth the wait I waited for this little girl since I was 8 Her call name is Kylie, I got it by blending the names Kodie & Tillie (her mom and dad). I am sooo glad that she IS a Kylie. Now years ago I had purchased a pup before she was even born, I had a name planned for her but after getting her home... less than 24hrs she had a way different name. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't Alana |
I had names picked out, but usually always changed them. You will know a name for her when you see her.. |

We named sadie before she came home but we went through a time where we wern't sure... After picking a few names we settled on Sadie for good... :D |
I have my little girls name picked out and I dont even know if she exists yet. I named her after a charactor in my daughters favourit movie, The Cobbler and the Thief (or is it The Thief and the Cobbler). Princess Yum Yum (Yum Yum for every day use) should be coming home soon....I hope! |
As soon as I read The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, I just knew I wanted a Walter! |
I had Gracie's name picked out, but Holly was a challenge. I wanted something that would go with her Registered Name, Calaryn's Made of Honor. Given that I got her at Christmas time, I thought Holly might work. I put it out there along with a list of other names I liked and asked my friends here at YT for their opinions. Holly it was! If you are going to register your baby, and baby does not come with a Registered Name, I would suggest picking several Registered Names and find a call name that works with any of them. It is much harder to pick the call name and then come up with a Registered name that fits. Good luck and I can hardly wait to meet your baby! |
I already would love to have another one! it's true yorkies are as sweet & addictive as hershey's kisses :) if I do her name will be hannah grace but my hubbie just smiles & shakes his head Nooo Honey Noooo!! LOL! |
After I heard Rod Stewart sing Maggie May in 1971, I loved the name! My husband didn't like it, so I couldn't name any of my 3 daughters that. But, once I got my first yorkie, (in 2002) I knew immediately what her name would be. The song fits her personality so well. |
Well Tucker's name actually has a story behind it. For the record: we met him for the first time when he was 6 weeks old. We got our first yorkie Bandit from a pet store (:(), and he got a clean bill of health from our vet. He started having seizures, and we took him to an Emergency Vet. The vets name was Dr. Tucker. He did everything in his power to save Bandit - unfortunatly it didn't work, but he did what he could and he made Bandit's last few hours as comfortable as possible. We were struggling to think of a name when we picked out our new puppy, my mom wanted to name him Brady, and the family had pretty much agreed on Noah. My mom and I were discussing it when my dad walked in the door from getting Bandit's ashes. He said "Dr. Tucker sends his condolances." and when he said 'Dr. Tucker' my mom and I just looked at each other and we were like "that's it!" We told Tucker's breeder, and she started calling him that, so when we brought him home he already knew his name. :) |
I had my Jeter's name picked out for about ten years before we got him. I am a big Yankee's fan and I just love to watch Derek Jeter in action, boy can he play ball!! I thought Jeter sounded like a great name for my puppy even though I knew I was going to have to wait a while to get him. I am going to name all our Yorkies after a Yankee player, we will eventually get 2 or 3 more dogs. I have their names picked out too;) |
I had my last girl named so her microchip could have her name..and papers of course... pooh's mum |
I picked my boys' names before I brought them home, so that the breeder could start calling them by their names. |
I named my baby girl "Maya". I thought of it on the way home from the breeder's house. Shortly after I got Maya, my friend got a girl yorkie and named her "Mia". Mia is only about 3 lbs......very tiny. Good luck in choosing a name. |
We meet our puppy at 5 weeks old...as some of you know. I think it took us a whole week or more to pick Leo's name, but with 4 kids it is hard to get everyone to agree.:D But, half the fun of having a new puppy is finding the perfect name. My children where on line looking up names and making list. They were so excited! It was important to us, to have a name for our puppy ASAP. We wanted Debbie (our breeder) to start calling him by 'his' name. |
