Sick of comments about small dogs!
 

Ever since I brought home Cosmo and esp. when he started going places with me I hear tons and tons of comments about "small dogs." It is so bothersome! My last dog was a Rottie and everyone had something to say about him too! Like he vicious, mean and will turn temperment on a dime. ALL of which was not true becuase I searched for a good breeder and took him to tons of dog classes. He was a big loveable bear until the day he died. NOW I have my darling Cosmo and everyone calls "small dogs" yippers, and someone actually said "Oh a Yorkie, those dogs are so greasy and mandy looking!" ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!??? I spend tons on a groomer, he is adorable, loving, and actually he is not a barker at all! I feel like telling them two things #1 You are just jealous. #2 don't call him a yipper becuase there are breeds that are.

Anyway, I love my Yorkie and I am just hoping there are other owners out there that are just as fed up as me with the negative comments! YORKIE OWNERS UNITE! JK

Ppl think of little dogs as ankle biters... My one Chihuahua is, but the other one is a sweetheart, and my Yorkie, Roxy is in NO WAY an ankle biter...
Ppl always say... doesnt that high pitched yapping get annoying???
And I say, "it would... IF SHE DID IT!"
Yorkie doesnt "yip", and for that matter she doesnt "yap"
She is better behaved than almost every little kid I see in the stores...
Which could lead me on a whole DIFFERENT rant!!!
In fact I think I might open a thread about that!!! lol

i would get tired of people looking at my big dogs like they would eat them some people are just so judgemental thats why pets are so great!

AMEN TO THAT TOO!!! That IS a whole different thread! However, I work at a high school and the last few Saturdays I have worked and brought him with me, I hardly see him during the week so on a Sat. nobody is here is except a few. I have my own office, I close my door and work. WELL, someone made a comment to me today that is unprofessional that I bring him with me on saturdays. I said I am here working for FREE on my own time, in my own office! Tough! I mean he is potty trained and sleeps under my desk, why the HECK do they care!

:thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup: That IS why pets are soooo great. Another great thing about pets is that they can't talk. And anyway, I'd much rather hear a dog yap than an un-educated person.

I get know it all people all the time. I have 2 rottweilers a lab and a yorkie. We also just lost our chi. People tell me that my Rotts are mean and will turn on me any min. They say my lab is a big baby. Well if they only knew. My lab loves to bite, the rotts might lick you to death if they even get up. They are so lazy. Then there was our chi that they called a yapper, I think in the 3 years we had her she barked once. I think no matter what kind of dog you have someone is going to have something negative to say about it. My BIL just found out my lab sleeps with me. He about had a fit. He said there was no way a dog was going to sleep in his bed. My hubby told him that Levi gets a bath every week and thats more than our nephew ( not his son) does. We do have a nephew that only takes a bath once a month rather he needs it or not. Hole nother story. Sorry so long!!!!

Its sad really that ppl get misconceptions of a breed because of what ppl do to them...
I lived with a Pitbull that was my exboyfriends, her name was Molly... and ppl always said... "A PIT??? THOSE ANIMALS ARE TERRIBLY AGGRESSIVE!!!"...
The fact was Molly was the sweetest little thing in the world... if you even raised your voice for any reason, she would put her tail between her legs and come to you for forgiveness, EVEN if it HAD nothing to do with her!!! She was just the sweetest girl, she would cry when we left, she would wait by the door until we came home, and she would lay between us like she was just a little tiny dog, even tho she wasnt...
She was the sweetest little Pit in the world... So laid back, so caring, and so gentle... She wouldnt hurt anything...
*cries cause she misses Molly*

My rottie was the same way! Lazy, lazy, lazy he would let my one year niece lay on him and watch cartoons! How funny! You are right there are ppl who just feel the need to complain about animals. I also LOVED the comment about un-educated people compared to yapping puppies! Working at a HS I totally agree!:D

One more point, becuase my puppy is ALWAYS happy to see me it makes me a more relaxed and happy person. There are days I am stressed, tired and at my wits end. When I get home and he jumps in my lap the world fades aways as I pet him, he thinks ear rubs are HEAVEN! I figure I am saving some counselor loads of time and the world is making a little less wine these days!:p

One time actually I got very angry at a woman at Petco. I was getting Roxy's nails cut, and my Chihuahua, Chico's nails cut. I had to hold Roxy the whole time because Chico is the sweetest thing... BUT!!! he is 13 years old, stuck in his ways and DOES NOT like Roxy. He is VERY jealous (one of the reasons I am going to get Chompers for Roxy)... When I put Roxy on a chair in the kitchen because I can't leave her down with him, he flips out on her... and I have to pull the chair, she gets excited and thinks he wants to play, but this is NOT the case.... Poor Roxy...

So, anyways, I was holding Roxy, and the woman at Petco said... "oh so she beats up on him..."
And I said... "no no... actually the other way around, he picks on her!!!"
and she goes...
"oh.... well, that doesnt seem right to me, usually Yorkies are instigators... its hard for me to believe that poor little old thing would pick on that Yorkie..."

I WISH YOU LIVED NEAR ME!!! I think we may have been separated at birth! I would have wanted to say the same thing! One of my students is reading this (High School) and she said Ms. Avila that is something you would type!

I hate people that ASSume! Just keep your side note comments to yourself! And you are ALL right what the HECK is with WalMart! They have filthy stores and most of the customers look filthy nasty too! They should be happy that I am in their store with my beautiful dog buying their merchandise. Which is cheap but some stuff falls apart in days! Heck Cosmo is cleaner than most of their checkers!

I KNOW!!! And did you ever see the ppl who greet you at the door?? There is this one guy in Mt. Pleasant... and these are supposed to be "pleasant" greetings... but there is nothing pleasant about the smell he gives off, and the teeth that he is mentally grinding my eye sockets out with...
He is horrible, and then to make things worse.... HE IS THE GUY THAT TELLS ME I CANT HAVE ROXY IN THERE ONE DAY!!!!
Then he acts like he is the friggin CIA with his little walky talky... he hunts me down in his sweat drenched sweater and 70's mustache, and says.. Missah... you can't have... a thatahh.. dog in heeah!....
And I was like... well if my dog can't be in here, you certainly shouldnt be...

OH LORDY LORDY!! I am laughing so hard I am afraid I may fall out of my desk chair! I need to leave work and go home but this thread is SO TRUE and FUNNY, I just keep working and checking back! All I have to say is AMEN Sister!:lol tears

Its all true... it just makes me so mad that these ppl are the ppl that WORK there and theyre less appealing than my dog... If I had to choose between my Yorkies nice clean mani'd paws, a little kids fingers, and that stinky man from walmarts clammy paws on my food...
I'D PICK ROXY'S any time!!!

I've read several threads on YT about people making mean comments about Yorkies, but I honestly have never had anyone make a derogatory comments about Archie. In fact, wherever we go, people stop me and tell me how gorgeous he is and are always very nice. In fact, the other day I was out walking him and this guy who looked like a "wino," complete with a bottle concealed in a bag called out to me, very nicely, "Excuse me -- that's a really cute little dog!" Maybe it was the wine!

... well I can only AGREE with you !

I get upset when People stare and say OMG is that a Rat .....

Maya is a tiny thing - I know that but it upsets me. So on a Fleamarket I SNAPED at a Lady. She made the Rat Comment and I turned around an yelled at her that MY RAT is worth more then her Beat-up-Car and she could not even effort that Rat even if she tried to. And then I called her the B-word. My Husband got mad cause my daughter was with us ..... but I had enough of others making fun. :thumbdown

Now, I go to Best Buy because they let me take Roxy in and everybody makes a big deal about how cute she is!!! I dont normally have problems...
BUT WHEN I DO...
And somebody says something about my baby...
You can guarantee I am going to make them feel like the scum of the EARTH!!!
Because if they can look at my baby's sweet face and say something then they ARE the scum of the Earth...
One of the worst things I get is that Roxy wears diapers, and ppl say stuff a lot about her wearing diapers...
And they also say stuff about her having a stroller, they say I treat her like a "baby"...
1. Ppl, she is my baby, if you have a problem with that then... don't look at her or something... Those ppl probably treat their real children like crap anyways... don't be jealous I treat my dog better than you treat your kids...
2. If poor 2.7 lb Roxy got attacked by a big dog or something, ppl would be like... OMG! Why didnt she take better care of her dog and protect her?? Well guess what, thats the reason I got the stroller! BECAUSE ITS CLOSED IN!!! So it PROTECTS her, especially since I go to parks a lot in the summer where there are a lot of big dogs...

Oh I gotta tell you this...
One time I went to Keystone with my best friend and her family and their friends...
Everybody loved Roxy and of course I had her stroller there....
This one lady came and the whole time she acted better than everybody (even her friends) and made faces and rolled her eyes the whole time, a really snobby witch that had a shirt on that was too tight for her rolly polly belly.
Well, she was like...
"Why do you have a stroller for a dog??? You realize its just a dog don't you???
And I was like...
"No... really? Man, I knew that guy from the adoption agency was telling me a bunch of crap when he told me this was just one of those new "hairy" breed kids... dang it!!!"
She gave me a disgusted look, and I said...
"listen, don't get mad that you were too busy buying ugly too tight for you shirts and Fashion Bug while I was buying an expensive beautiful dog... just go back to your trailer park and enjoy your QVC jewelry & doll collection"
She got really mad at this point and said that the "problem" with the world is ppl like me who are worried more about my "dog" than living a real life...
She said.. "What would you do if that dog died???"
And I said, "I would be heartbroken, I would probably die myself, or at least a part of me would, she is my heart..."

Then, this evil witch said...
"My daughter didn't die when her two twin babies died a few days ago, so if you would die over a stupid dog then you're pathetic..."

Guess how many ways I wanted to make this woman suffer!?!?!

But I pulled myself together...
And I said...
"I am sorry to hear about your daughters loss.... and I dont think anybody should ever have to be in that position... but all I know is that I would feel like my dog is my child... and that only means that I love her very much... Some ppl don't love animals as much as others...
But as for you, all I can say is, I think you're the scum of the Earth & you should be with your daughter instead of at a cook out insulting me about my love for my dog..."

I owned a Great Dane for many years - believe me, I got just as many comments on his size (and oh my goodness! Look what he looks like when he poops!), etc -- even people running away from him b/c they were frightened - even though he was the gentlest dog. I think in general, many people just aren't happy unless they have something to complain about. And that's unfortunate.

yorkies are the cutest things...pp who say things like that are just jealous that either they cant afford one or arent allowed to have 1...yorkies are the sweetest friendliest and best friend any1 can have...and they do not bark..martini barks only when she wants to play...so ignore the ignorance of them they are just trying to bring u down

I am glad this thread started- thanks ladies!! I have been so freakin' irritated lately about this and have to vent!!

EVERY time I take Ranger to a pet store, AT LEAST one person comes up to me and asks if he bites. Does that face look like he bites?????? Seriously, I understand lots of little dogs are nippers, but I can't help getting offended. He is the friendliest little guy ever, and I have worked REALLY hard to socialize him.

Also, right after I got him (he was 2lbs) my husband dragged me to a snowmobile show, and I said I wouldn't go unless I could take Ranger. Well, we're standing there and he's all tucked into my jacket, and I am watching these awful unruly children climbing ALL OVER the roped-off $30,000.00 mod-sled and I GOT KICKED OUT!!!!! No joke- "ma'am no dogs here." He's not a dog he's my freakin' baby!!!!

I said "are you kidding me???????? I guess those greasy kids climbing all over that sled are ok though??" He just rolled his eyes and actually followed us out to make sure we left. I told my hubby he just doesn't like cute girls cuz he can't get a date!!! Just kidding, but I was really mad. I understand there are rules and stuff but I just hate it when gross people that don't take showers and smell like 30ys. of smoke are allowed and my clean little guy can't come in.

wow that is horrible...yet i bet they didnt say anything to the kids parents who were makin a mess and climbing on everything...it figures...i dont know so far i havent dealth with that i take martini everywhere even to the supermarket i put her in her bag..she sits on my lap when i go for a mani & pedi..she came to atlantic city with us we snoke her in tho lol..but i take her everywhere...some pp arent animal pp and its a real shame becuase they seriously dont know what they are missing...

If I hear one more 'RAT' comment from another cocky youth or arrogant male (who obviously must have a manhood the size of a maggot) I swear i will swing for them!:mad: seriously...I have heard it soooo many times before and it's not even funny. I'm just about to take Pixie out for a walk now as it's sunny and not raining for once, I bet i get at least one negative comment while i'm out from some idiot who thinks they are just full of wit...:rolleyes:

I hear it all the time. There are so many people who say oh my he is so cute but then you get the ones who are jealous. My sister in law always has a comment and told me the only reason I got Carlos was so that I stick him in my purse. I never even put him in a carrier. She is just a hater and so is everyone else.
