I agree. That was totally uncalled for. If she was selfish she wouldn't have givin it a second thought. I think she's being very responsible by considering all options..the good and the bad. |
chinchilla's are very cute. remember he let you get a puppy. just think of how much some of the people on here wanted a puppy and were soooo happy when their spouse let them get one! thats how your hubby feels about the chinchillas. just give it a chance is what i would say. maybe when you wanted a yorkie he was thinking why does she want a yorkie while she's got me? maybe there's a chinchillatalk.com that we don't know about.... good luck and give hubby a chance! |
Chinchillas are really cute. I am sure your dogs will get used to it and do fine. |
Hmmmm.... Yokies: Bred to hunt and kill rodents. Hmmmmmmm..... |

When we go to PetSmart, we love to visit the chinchillas....I mean, Sully loves to visit them. He sits next to their cage and just goes NUTS watching them. But I'd be scared to know what would happen to the chinchillas if they weren't safely behind the glass. I think your yorkie would love having a chinchilla.....for the 5 minutes that your chinchilla would stay alive.... :( But, it MAY be possible to keep the chinchilla in an extra room, maybe an office or something like that and be sure to leave it in its cage at all times unless your yorkies are penned up. Taking proper precaution, it can be possible...just make sure your husband knows the facts, like rrosenberry said, yorkies are bred to hunt and kill rodents! PS. I noticed you were born in 1981...lol, me too...in October. And so was my husband, in May. |
My shepherd goes nut when he sees rabbits and squirells, but never once went after our guinee pig and we didnt always have him in his excercise ball. Nor does he go after macy who wieghs all of 2 1/2 lbs. I say if he wants one get one. The chinchilla is going to be in a big cage and just make sure when you put it in an excercise ball to run in you put her in a seperate room. I have had 4 bearded dragons guinnee pigs dogs and as long you excercise proper care you will be okay. If he truly wants one I wouldnt keep him from one. Just give it a try and dont sweat it to much. Remember the chinchilla will be in a cage. |

THANK YOU Chewy's Mama, Gerry, and Heather Hamptons. I appreciate your kind words. I just try to ignore mean comments because there is no cause for it. I am trying to decide today about the Chinchilla because I want to get him tomorrow morning (while Jim is out helping my dad w/ something) and have the Chinchilla home to surprise him. But my other concern is where to buy one from. I REFUSE to buy anything from a pet store period, end of story. And I've never heard of a Chinchilla breeder! LOL So where should I shop? I looked at www.petfinder.com and they have a few rescue Chinchillas (which is always a nice idea) but you have to submit to a home visit and fill out all this paper work and that would totally blow the surprise. Grrrr ... what to do!! :D |
Have you tried any of the pet hospitals/rescues. Bide-a-Wee's # is 212-532-5884. The might have one??? Also, there is is the ASPCA, I don't have their # It's worth a shot. Let us know how it goes. |
We have local newpapers Mini Merchant,, I dont know it they have them everywhere?? But there are ads in there alot. They are the cutest! :) |
i thought they stayed in cages? |
I'd let him get it, they do have balls that you can have him put in to run around. I would slowly introduce your babies to your hubby's very much wanted baby. |

http://members.aol.com/sirchin/chininfo.htm Then I went to their locate breeders section: http://members.aol.com/sirchin/breeders.htm Maybe one of those places are close to you...... Good luck. I think they're adorable and would seriously consider getting the girls (skin-kids) one but they just each got a new kitten and that keeps them busy enough and I don't need another critter to clean up after.... |
