I have a question about my babies eyes His eyes water so badly that it even wets the hair on his little muzzle so his fluffy cheeks are now flat and wet :( has anyone have this happen is there anything i can do? |
1 Attachment(s) here is a pic of what i am talking about but it gets worse than this at times |
Does he have hair poking him in the eye? Check to make sure his lashes aren't flipped backward on his upper lid too. It is normal for some eye secretions but that looks a bit excessive imo. Is there any odor? |
Sorry, I don't know the answer, but that sure is a CUTE picture!!! |

If you want to grow the hair out on his muzzle then don't trim it, you can use vaseline (or even hair gel) and smooth it down so it isn't poking in his eyes. If you do intend on keeping his muzzle hair trimmed up then you could trim it now |
I had the same problem with Bear, I trimmed his hair there and had no problems afterward. I also cleanse his eye doogies often. It shouldn't be anything serious. :coolpics: |
I don't have any advice about the eyes but that sure is a cute picture! I wish mine would sleep together like that! |
Thank you guys for the great advice i plan on growing it out long so i think i am going to try the vaseline or hair gel and continue the never ending eye boogie wipes  |
Callies one eye does this also, I am taking her to my vet next friday and I will try to remember to post up what he says. |
That pic is adorable!!!!!!!!!! If you think the watering is truly excessive, it really is best to have your vet look at the eye for infection. Eye infections are easily treated and not all that uncommon. Also, what are you feeding? Bc food allergies can cause terrible watering, as can enviromnmental allergies - but I'd look at food first. |
AJuliaw04 - It took mine a while to do it at first the beagle was scared to death of him it was so funny to see this little furball running around chasing this big beagle everywhere the beagle would actually jump on my lap and whine because she was scared of Max :yelrotflm s13silviagirl - That would be great i would love to know what advice he gives i am going to try to get Max in today (afraid something is wrong with his belly to) and if i do i will also post |

Chicken Meal, Ground Yellow Corn, Ground Whole Wheat, Lamb Meal, Poultry Fat (preserved with natural mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and ascorbyl palmitate – a Vitamin C ester), Natural Flavors, Full–fat Soybeans, Oatmeal, Dried Beet Pulp, Fish Meal, Dried Eggs, Ground Flax Seeds, Dicalcium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Salt, Dried Kelp, Choline Chloride, Brewers Dried Yeast, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Natural Antioxidants, Vitamin Supplements (E,A,B2,B12,D3), Niacin, Calcium Ascorbate, Calcium Pantothenate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Inositol, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (source of Vitamin K activity), Folic Acid, Biotin, Zinc Proteinate, Zinc Oxide, Ferrous Sulfate, Iron Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Proteinate, Manganous Oxide, Cobalt Proteinate, Potassium Iodide, Sodium Selenite, Rosemary Extract. Well - this may be your answer. CORN is the second ingredient! All of the ones in bold are considered either allergenic, poor quality fillers, and even a bit toxic (menadione). Any time you see menadione - that should be a major red flag as to the quality of the food AND the philosophy - it is a cheap, rather toxic way to get a Vitamin K derivative in the food - stay away! If it were me, I would transition this pup off of the food asap and give something like Canidae or Nature's Variety, Innova, Wellness, Evangers etc. :D |
awww so stinking cute!!! I wish Guinness would lay down with my cocker Maggie. He just likes pouncing on her and she's been so patient (she's 14) but she stands up so he can't get to her face. Your puppies are adorable :) |

excessive tears can also be from clogged tear ducts. the eyes water because they cannot properly drain. Your vet would be able to tell you if this is the problem and if it is he could flush them when your little one gets fixed. |
Chewy gets this also I cut the hair by his eyes so it isnt pokeing him, And i wipe his eyes with a mixure of half warm water half peroxide and comb the eye area out with a flea comb. Then I have an antobiotic cream to put in his eye that the vet gave me. If I do this every day his eyes look pretty good. |

Well yes and no i went and they said yes they do carry it but were out of stock but they had almost every brand that you had listed this place only carried all natural pet products which i think is great but anyways i bought wellness puppy dry food and canned and i also got my minpin wellness weight control (she is 10 lbs. but supposed to be 7lbs  ) I have tried giving Bella the mix but she won't touch it little bugger. See up until we got her back she was being force fed with a syringe (goats milk mixed with eukanuba weaning food) because she would not eat on her own but then the little bugger got a wiff of the can food and started chowing down maybe it is just because she is being picky i don't know but i am going to keep trying the mix and hope she starts eating it. Also another problem with her is that she hardly drinks any water she kind of takes spells one day she will lap it up like crazy then the next she won't go near it.And no we no longer have any feed stores in our town they shut down about 5 years ago :( She is supposed to be my daughters dog but with school and work i am always puppy sitting and when she won't eat or drink it scares me to death i am sure you could imagine. |
I tried to get him into the vet today but they were booked up so it will be next week before i can :( |
Remi's eyes ran and he had constant goobers so bad that when he would try to scratch at them, his nails would get caught and he would lay there and cry because his foot was stuck to his face. I finally trimmed all the hair around his eyes and the top of his nose and Voila! He has a clean face - well, as clean as it can be considering his face is usually stuck to the cat's butt or he's managed to get into the litter box(which is out of reach for Roxy so I have no clue how he makes it). Anyway, the goobers went away and his eyes quit tearing. |
I have been considering more and more shaving his i wasn't going to but everytime i turn around he has hair sticking in his eye poor little guy just not sure i want to try it myself the first time i will probably take him to the groomer and see how they do it (i am such a chicken) |
If you seen my other post about Bella then you already know Max was vet checked today and nothing the vet can find wrong with his eyes. Said that they is no infection nothing he does think that is might be a possibility that it is allergies and dry air so he told me to try baby benadryl 1 cc 3 times a day for 3-4 days and see what that does i am also going to get his hair shaved around that area to and to call back if the benadryl doesn't work. I am hoping with chaning his food and having him on benadryl and also shaving the eye area that it will stop. |

If she is liking the canned - you could mix kibble in with it, or just feed canned. Also, add water TO the canned food and/or kibble - this will help get her more H20 as well. At her weight, extra water/food is good. How old is she again? If she's still quite young - I'd feed her every 4 hours if it were me - esp. w/ her other incident this morning. |
She is 8 1/2 weeks old now she eats like a little porker but like i said water is the problem. Why didn't i think of adding water to her food that is a great idea thank you! So feeding her just can food is okay? I have had so many people tell me that canned food was not good for a dogs teeth that they needed at least a mix of both but i have tried mixing and she won't touch the kibble she just eats the soft food off of it  Now that is the problem i am having with max to i cannot get him to touch the kibble  Yeah my daughter is very busy and i just got some heartbreaking news last night she is a senior in high school right now and when she goes off to college next year she has to stay in the dorm (all freshmen have to) and she said that mamaw (me) will have to take care of her while she is at school okay now i said heartbreaking because i am already getting attached to her and it kills me when i have to leave the house just to runt to the store and i have to leave her here but i can't even imagine i will have her all to myself for a year and then she is going to come back and take her away omg i can't believe i am crying just thinking about it :cry2: |
