prayers needed please I usually just read what everyone is posting and really learn alot (plus I enjoy reading about Yorkies). Our family has 2 Yorkies (Addi, 1 year and Romeo, 3 months) and they are both doing fine. It seems like people are always dropping stray animals at our house and we have a neighbor that is always bringing animals home but does not take care of them. Well we usually end up feeding them and try to find homes for them. Yesterday I came home to find a kitten in our outbuilding. She just looked like she was sleeping but when I called to her she could not walk. She tried to stand but her back legs would not work. We called our Vet and she said to bring her on in. As soon as she saw her she said she was in shock and dehydrated. She also feared her back was broken. She did an X-ray and only saw a slight break near where the leg joins the hip. She said lets start some fluids and see how she is in the morning. Well this morning she was still not better and after blood tests showed an extremely high white blood cell count she was really concerned. She called alittle while ago and said she found she had a tear in her bladder. Common sense said to have her put to sleep but my husband and I couldn't do it. Our vet is going to operate in the morning to try to fix the tear. She said if it was too large there would be nothing she could do. This isn't even our cat but she just looked at us we these pleading eyes and we just have to try and save her. I just don't think people realize what happens when they drop animals off or keep getting animals and letting them run loose in the neighborhood. Our kids get attached and so do we. We can't really afford this medical bill and we do not want a cat but I am praying that she makes it and than we are going to find her a good home. Please say a pray for her tonight and I will let you know what happens in the morning. |
awww. i am so sorry to hear that. i will keep her in my prayers. i totally empathize with you, my sister just lost her cat of 14 years this morning. hope all turns out well |
You are very sweet. I have taken in many a stray, too. We used to live in an area where we seemed to get a lot of drops. Our town had a street called 'Dog Drop Lane'. They actually closed the street and dug it up a few years ago. I would take them to the vet, have them neutered or spayed and find them a home nearby - because, of course I loved them by then. I will pray for your sweet kitten and hope to hear good news in the morning. Also Welcome! |
How sad! You have our prayers! |
bless our heart for helping. I hope all comes out well. |
Hope the kitty is going to be okay. Please keep us posted! |
If only the world was filled with more people with your kind heart!!! You have all of my prayers! |
That is such a wonderful thing to do for that innocent animal...I'm glad there are people out there like you. |
That kitty is blessed to have found you and your family. We are sending you our prayers and hope she will get better.Keep us posted. |
Oh My! You have such a kind heart. I pray that the kitten will have a speedy recovery and will be okay. I'm sure you will be able to find him a home. We just recently brought home a "special needs" kitten from a shelter. His hind leg was almost completely severed and half of his tail was cut off by some sicko who then tied him up in a Wal-Mart sack and left him to die. Luckily, someone with a big heart like you heard him crying when they went to throw the trash and rushed him to the vet. The vet operated and was able to save him and then placed him with one of the rescue organizations that foster animals for adoption. We found him at our local pet-smart adoptathon. He only has 3 legs now and half of his tail, but he gets around just like any other cat. He runs and plays and jumps and climbs. He's just perfect. :) Most of all, he has the sweetest personality. He loves to climb in your lap and just purrs away. If he is in a room alone, he will meow until we call out his name and he comes running to us purring. Our life is so blessed with him. Not to mention he's a great buddy to our yorkies. I just wanted to share our story to let you know that there is hope for this little kitten and its all thanks to you. :) |
What a truly inspiring story! I will pray that the cat makes it and that you find good home. |
Bless your kind soul for taking him in. Im praying for your little guy, it breaks my heart, all he wants is a good comfy home, and boo to the jerk who couldn't provide him with that. I just dont get why people can't place their unwaned animals in a good home instead of dumping them  |
And just a suggestion:maybe you should consider reporting your neighbor annonomusly to Animal Control if he's neglecting animals. One thing that really burns me up is animal abuse  |
Yeah you! We have that problem here with dogs, my parents tell me I could have something if I quit spending my money on strays! But I do have something that money can't buy - everytime one of them becomes an ex-stray and goes to a loving home is priceless. Someone has to take some kind of responsibility for these creatures that haven't got a choice or voice! |
You have a great big heart and I think it is great that there are people like you out there.....please keep us informed!!! and WELCOME |
I am so glad that there are people like you out there to care for that poor kitten. We have 5 dogs and 4 of them are rescues. It's so sad that people just drop these helpless animals off to fend for themselves. And what makes me even more angry is when people get more and more animals even when they know they can't care for them properly and let them run loose wherever they please and they hardly ever get fed and never see a vet office. A woman who lives down the road from me has 3 dogs and she claims to love them to death but she lets them run loose and several times now I've nearly hit them on the road and twice they've come almost a mile up to my house and I've had to care for them bc their owners are just too hard headed to put up a fence or buy a leash and actually take some time to walk w/ them. And my next door neighbors have 5 horses who hardly ever get fed or watered and they are HORRIBLE looking but there's nothing I can do about it. It drives me up the wall. So at night my dad and I take our hay bales and throw them over their fence for them to just so they don't starve. It's heart breaking. I really hope your little kitten makes it. It's people like you who go out of their way who make all the difference in an animals life. :) |
God bless you and your husband! Keep us posted on the baby. |
 Good for you. |
Poor Baby Talk about a tear jerking story. You and your husband must really be good people, and I wish there were more like you guys out there. I hope this little girl pulls through and will say a prayer especilly for her. Please keep us posted. Lots of luck! |
I just got a call from our vet. The kitten made it through surgery. He (i thought it was a little girl kitten, but was wrong) had a large tear in his bladder and alot of trauma. She thinks someone kicked him from the looks of his injuries. She said he was a real fighter and was trying to live. The next 24 hours will tell if she was able to fix all the internal things. She is worried about the ureters (?the little tubes that connect the kidneys and the bladder). She is afraid that they may have holes in them and she can not fix that. So keep the little guy in your prayers and pray for a good home for him too. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. You guys are awesome!! |
I am sorry to hear about the kitty. My prayers are with you. |
What a trooper! My prayers are with you and your family! Hoping for a speedy recovery! |
That's so sad. You are a wonderful person. |
What a great thing you and your husband are doing, I pray your little kitten get well soon. Great to hear he made it through the sugery. |
Just wanted to let everyone know that we got to bring the kitten home (we named him Smoke) yesterday. He had a rough night so we took him back to the vet. She thought he looked very good and gave us another medicine. As my husband was driving home from the vets today, Smoke sat up in his box, meowed 2 times and died peacefully. My husband was crying when he came in the door. I want to thank everyone for their prayers. God always answers prayers, just not always the way we think they should be answered. I am glad he is in no more pain. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories. You guys are all so caring. |
I am so sorry to hear about Smoke...Whatever abuse that poor little guy took was so unnecessary...You are a wonderful person for trying to save his life! You are in our thoughts Lots of love and hugs are coming your way Fran and Sammi |
God bless you for having such a caring heart. That little guy was needed somewhere else and you did all that you could do. But he was so cute and loving that God wanted him too. Thanks for being so kind to him. I hope you stay on YT and chat with us about more of your experiences. |
Oh, I'm so very sorry about Smoke. :( God must\'ve needed another kitty angel, one with a strong, fighting spirit like Smoke had. I\'m sure he is having a good time running around and playing in heaven now and you will see him again one day at Rainbow Bridge. You are a wonderful person with such a kind heart, I wish the best for you and your family and will pray for you all and all the animals you have helped and rescued. |
Im so terribly sorry. It\'s so hard to deal with a loss..human OR not. Just know that you have tons of friends here whenever you need them! |
Oh, I am so sorry. I just read your orignial post and I was hoping for a happy ending  sometimes it\'s not meant to be. We rescued my Bella when she was no more than 3 weeks old, totally eyes glued shut with upper resp. problems, weighed nothing. She was a stray, I think her mother threw her out, too sick. I didn\'t want another cat again, but here she is going on 2 and I love her. I\'m sending prayers to you and your hubby for caring so much... |
