Smelly odor. How do I get rid of it? YUCKY! My backyard patio area stinks!!! I like to sit out there too so I am sad. Until recently chloe would always pee on the cement patio instead of going off into the grass. And my next door neighbors have a couple of outside cats that LOVE to mark my patio  . SO when it rains like it has all day today it really brings out the bad smell. Anybody know a product that would help for outside cement? Any special secret tricks? Pwease help. Odor is slightly creeping into house :( |
Odorban works real well. I get it at Sams club. You can maybe get it at Walmart to since they are affilitated. |
Natures Miracle worked for me for this same problem. It was a little more expensive but it worked. You could also use bleach. But you might kill off some grass and you dont want to let your pups out there til the bleach is dry. |

-- Whatever you end up using I would just let it sit and soak into the cement to really get the smell out. |
I don't know for sure how to get rid of the smell but I have heard that a way to keep the cats away is to have your husband or any guy who will do it , to pee on the same spots. I HAVE never tested this but I have heard it will work. Let us know if you talk someone into doing it LOL! |
i use body wash or orange clean which ever one i have |
i have the same problem.. not with cats though.. with my little Oreo!!.. He's a lean, mean marking machine!! sometimes i have no idea where he gets all that juice from  from marking so much! .. And the stench is unbearable.. do you think that natures miracle will work if i put it in the steam cleaner?? like someone mentioned above.. i also got used to the smell.. but everytime i leave for a few hours and come back home.. that stench is horrid... some one help! |

I am the same way. I want people to come over and not even be able to tell I have dogs but i feel like there has got to be a smell. Does anyone know if you can also use those products on tile and grout? INside the house |
I thought I'd post this for everyone,,, It worked great,,, on cat urine spots I had,,, Thought it would be worth a shot for you with Puppy spots... 1. bottle hydrogen peroxide (normal size) 2. teaspoon dawn dish soap 3. tablespoon baking soda Mix in container,, and pour on spots or put in squirt bottle,,, saturate spots, let dry ( totally), overnight, and vacuum up. Give it a try,,, worked on cat urine,, and it doesn't get much worse than that smell! __________________ Rhonda The above was posted by "rrosenberry" back in April & I had saved it in case I ever needed to try it out! Several on YT tried it & said it worked great! (You can go to Search>cat odor & check out the posts by those who tried it.) |
Someone, somewhere suggested using white vinegar diluted with water. This works but someone else suggested using perfume over the pee spots so they won't go there again. This also works. Since it's outside I think I'd do both. Use the diluted vinegar and let it soak and then use a floral perfume on top when it is dry. I don't know, maybe the perfume might drive the cats away for a few days. I have some body splash that is some kind of lemon and when Pirogue pees on the wall or some place he can get at I will splash this stuff on and he'll come sniff and back off like it stinks but he doesn't go there anymore. Well at least for a couple of weeks. I haven't caught him peeing in the same places but right next to where I splashed the stuff on. It's like he's getting as close to marking HIS spot as he can. I'm gonna buy some of that paint on sealant and go around the base of all my walls and the floor just below. That'll fix him. Haha. Oh, I didn't say how much to mix. I think it was 1 cup of vinegar to 3 cups of water. It doesn't need to smell like vinegar to work. Sylvia |
Anyone ever try Urine Gone?? I've been seeing it on TV and they say it has enzymes that eat the odor away??? |
I just ordered this www.urinegone.com |

Product that I swear by I have two yorkies and a cat and I used Natures Miracle and it worked so-so. Then I found a product that I swear by, it is called "Get Serious Stain Extractor" I have never used a product that worked better than this. Also, for the odor in your home, take a squirt bottle, purchase a liquid fabric softener that is perfumed and that you like, for instance Downey lavendar. Mix in bottle with water. Use this to wipe your tables, counters, appliances etc, Also use the hot oil plug ins or purchase perfumed oil and use in various places in your home. I have the three animals and people always comment about how good my house smells. The Get Serious is available at Petsmart. I use it on everything, had an old blazer that had nicotine stains on it that the cleaner or washer could not get rid of, since it looked like it was a loss, soaked it in this stuff and the blazer is like new. |
Oh, also, my bf's mother uses "Capture" for the carpet for stains and for clothing. It won't work for the patio, but will for future inside accidents :) |
We got a hydro-cleaner, a little high spray water cleaner from Walmart. It is about $89, but it takes the dirt, pee and all off the cement. I love it! For my grout, I use scrubbing bubbles, dobie pad (plastic covered sponge) or toothbrush, and a sponge or washrag. Get on hands and knees and go to work. It does seem to deter going potty on the floor when it is clean. |
I new a cat show breeder once and she used viniger it was all she used and her house never smelled. She had about 30 cats indoors on cement. I hope this helps. |
My sister in law told me last weekend that she washes the patio down once a week with vinegar to keep the flies away. Maybe it is the smell? |
Glass cleaner with ammonia!!! It romoved spots and gets the smell. When Gus first came home, he loved peeing in the corner of my bedroom. I was for ever cleaning and couldnt get the smell out. Then my mother in law told me that she used to use it when her puppies where little and made smelly messes in the house. And it really worked. |

i use good ol bleach!i usto have a pekinese and we kept her outside in ur fenced patio area that was cemented when she was shedding and i had the same problem with poo and pee smell and what i would do is spray the area first with the waterhose then take some dawn dish soap and squirt it all around the area then i would pour the bleach down, then i take a plastic broom and scrub it down just like scrubbing dishes(scrub it really well) lol....then i rinse it(the cement)really really well until you don't see suds anymore and walla the smell is gone!noone evn knew a dog had been there let alone did her buisness there. it really works and it doesn't kill the grass because by the time your done flushing the concrete down with water the bleach is diluted already. hope this helps! |
Shana-I'm exactly like that. When people come over I want them to be surprised that we have animals inside when they see them. I honestly don't even know if our house smells. I've been trying to get someone over to smell it and tell me the truth but we haven't had anyone over in forever. I also have cats and my best friend was always telling her husband how you couldn't even tell I had them (before we got our yorkie). It helped though that I have a cat door so I don't have a litter box inside. -- I use the plug-ins and I also spray my carpets with fabric softner/water and also sometimes febreeze but I feel that this just covers up the smells. I really want something that is really going to get rid of the smell. I kept a spray bottle with just pure vinegar in it around and when Reagan would go on the floor I would soak it up with paper towels then spray it with vinegar I really believe it worked. I have also gone over my carpets with a steam cleaner that had some vinegar in the water (no soap/shampoo). I bought simple solution's carpet shampoo for the steam cleaner but haven't used it yet, maybe this weekend. I'll let you guys know how that works. |

After you get the odor and stains out, then spray the concrete deck with a Concrete Sealer (like Thompson's). The urine will not penetrate the cement then. |
