I have never used an Xpen But plan on getting one when we have puppies. |
When we first got Carter, he mastered climbing over a baby gate that was about 24" tall. When we got our x-pen, I got one that is 36" tall and neither he nor Cooper have ever scaled it - thank goodness. I made sure I purchased one that has a top that can be purchased separately, in the event that they would learn to climb over it but I didn't have to worry about it. My x-pen has a door so they can go in and out of it when it is up. Lisa |
My xpen is 36" high with 8 panels. Folds flat - has a door. Works great. Lexy is a jumper and can clear 24". She can hit the top of a 28" and balance there until she jumps on over. I found mine at PetSmart. They had two sizes - a shorter one and the 36". At that time the 36" was on sale and actually a dollar or so cheaper than the short one. It IS a little heavy. But, fits in the Jeep back perfectly and is easy to pull out and setup when we are traveling. It is a very heavy gold wire but was quite expensive - $65. It works so well (indoors or out) I can't imagine not having it. When potty training, I set it up as a rectangle (3 across and 1 wide) door in front middle. Potty pad on one end, bed on other end. Food and water near bed. Puppy seems to automatically find the potty pad. Jeanne |
