| Steps Question Rudy walks up steps but not down has anyone else experienced this? If so how long did it take to learn? Also, is there anyway to train him to go down? Thanks...

| We put a treat on each step down. We removed the treat if he jumped off. He figured it out pretty quickly! We did have to repeat the first couple of times each day for a couple of days and then he was a pro at it!

| Oh, were you talking real stairs or doggie steps? I was talking doggie steps. I don't know about the regular stairs in a house. I could see how that would be scary.

| Jambo was scared of stairs all together at first then he advanced to going up the steps but would be too scared to go down. He whizzes up and down everything now. Sometimes I wish he wouldn't but they all eventually man/yorkie up so I wouldn't be too worried. |

| It won't take long. I have stairs in my house and Rainbow was the first to venture up them. Within a week, she was going up and down cautiously. Now she doesn't even slow down. Beamer took longer. Rainbow was already going up and down before Beamer would even try and it took him about 3 weeks longer before he would go down. Now they both won't slow down. All of them are different. I didn't do anything special to teach them to use the stairs, in fact I discouraged it. But they have thier own sense of bravado and will try when they feel comfortable

| When we first got Angel she would not go up or down the stairs. Then she would go up halfway but not come down and I would have to get her. She now is a pro at the stairs; running up & down. She now runs to the 2nd landing and suns herself every morning. Just takes time and some coordination.

| Bobby started going up the stairs as soon as we brought him home at 12 weeks. But he was too scared to come down. He knew how to get my attention, he would go up and wait there until I would go get him. If i took too long he would let out a few barks. It was really cute in the beginning! We recently moved into our new home which also has stairs. During our move I put him upstairs to keep him out of big people feet for a few minutes and he learned how to go down all by himself! now he runs down like he has been doing it forever. He even jumps down the last 2 stairs. So cute! |
