| Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day - June 26 Hi everyone. I know this is a hard day for all of us on the forum after the devestating news we received not once, but three times yesterday. The loss of Mocha (BKessler), Matty (Lady of Yorkies), and Molly (Figment713) all in one day has deeply affected everyone on this forum. I've been thinking about those three little angels all day as I've gone about my appointments and errands. I'm just so sad. Personally, I had a hard time getting on here today, but then I wanted to because I felt like that as we all share what we feel, we can begin to heal. Those who lost their precious babies yesterday as well as many others who have lost beloved Yorkies or other pets in the past have a hole in their heart that will never be filled. Somehow I feel that this forum will never be the same as it was before June 26. We will move on and we'll have fun and be silly and brag over our babies, pray when they're sick and mourn when we lose one. But we won't forget. As a tiny part of the healing process I suggested to Dan (Admin) that we designate June 26 of each year as Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. He agreed that this would be a good idea. Here's the story of Rainbow Bridge, (thanks to Villette who posted it earlier along with the sweet pix): Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... It will be a day when we remember Mocha, Matty and Molly as well as all the others who are just as special to all of us, that will be waiting there at the rainbow bridge. I thought a special day of remembrance might be a reminder to pray for those who lost babies and to remember how precious that they were. Whether you believe in heaven, prayer, or something called a Rainbow Bridge or not, I thought that we could use it as a symbol of respect and sympathy to those who have lost their babies. Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day is not only a time of remembering the loss of these precious babies, but also a time of celebrating the impact that their wonderful personalies had on the lives of not only their owners but also all of us as we read about them everyday on this forum. This forum is truly a very very special place. I believe its the best forum on the web. Dan said we can sticky this post for a week or so, then move it to the R.I.P. section perhaps longterm. And he will add it to our calendar as well. Thanks, Cynthia

| What a great idea. I know our 3 YT families are struggling now, I was there just 2 months ago. Most of you can not know how much YT helps to heal our broken hearts. This is a wonderful tribute to all of the yorkie (and other) babies that our members loved. Thanks for thinking of it!

| This is so very lovely. Losing a pet is so traumatic. I lost my pug in December last year and even though I have Chewy now, I still feel sad and even cry still, like today, it just brought so many memories back. These little animals become such integral parts of our lives and bring us so much joy and happiness that it is unimaginable to think of life without them. It makes me very happy to see the warmth and tenderness that the members on this forum have shown over the past day. There is so much caring here and such an outpouring of love. I am happy for the day I googled a yorkie question and it brought me here to YT. |

| You said it exactly how I feel as well - I can't really even put into words the sadness I feel for these members....I get on for two minutes and my eyes fill with tears. This post made me cry too, and I'm sad, but this is a sweet cry...if there is one. What a wonderful idea for June 26th of every year. I also loved that everyone is giving safety tips for other members as well. Like you said, we can stick together to share our joys, our sorrows, our prayers, laughter and crying...but we can also build each other up and become stronger, smarter, and more careful pet owners. Accidents happen every day and it could be to any one of us at any time.

| Great idea ,, I haven't experienced the loss of a Yorkie..( not do i want to) But, a year ago I had to put my 16 year old cat to sleep, and I was just talking to someone yesterday about holding her until the last breath, and I was bawling just thinking about it,,( like I am now) So, I understand the pain and hurt, and the ache you have in your heart for such a long time. So this is a great idea!

| Very good idea - just still can't believe the loss of these three over the weekend - especially being so young! Your post made me shed a few tears again thinking of my Mocha (that we lost last year after almost 16 years) running to meet these three to play with! I just know these three families can use all of our thoughts & prayers, especially these next few weeks!! As it is with people, I think it's ALWAYS HARD to lose a pet from old age, but the shock & sudden change of losing one so unexpectedly is a little more traumatic! God's blessings & comfort to them all!! |
