1 Attachment(s) I got a little metal folding fence. You can put it on the floor or outside in the grass. It opens to 4x4 and 2'tall, folds to 2'x2' x 4" or so. |
1 Attachment(s) This is the playpen I got from Walmart to help train my girls! It has been wonderful! |

This is an interesting topic and I, too, am getting an expen this weekend. Probably the Petsmart one from Wollfy's post. I am going to include this earlier thread of mine, because people give good advice about this and also because Tara (Tino and Bunny's mom) posted pics of her setup (post #21) which are so great I'm going to copy her. Good Luck http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...7&page=1&pp=15 |
I agree this is good info! I think I will buy a play pen for my new pup. But I think Target has one for $12.99 http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B0006ISSB4 |
2 Attachment(s) Here are the pics of the set up I used when Tino and Bunny were puppies that Gerry was talking about. This is an expen for a hamster that I got at PetSmart for $19.99... For any of you getting th playpen's with the mesh.. remember to always make sure that your puppy is not wearing anything when you put them in there- no harness, collar, clothes, bows.... nothing! Let's not forget what happend to the little girl that we lost to a playpen/harness accident in the last few weeks. Also you have to be careful that they arent "jumpers" as they can seriously injure themselves... please read Gerry's thread. As she stated there is a ton of great info on there. |

Asia chewed the sides of the mesh playpen I had for her. I have a expen for her now. I like that it folds up flatter than the playpen and gives her more room to play. I can put her in the yard with a wading pool in it too. |
Warning when using a playpen with mesh sides... ALWAYS remove your pup's collar... they can jump up and get tangled and hang! |
I used the playpen pictured above from WalMart for Tini from the time she was a baby until I finally got rid of it when she was about 9 months old. The breeder I got her from uses them, so it made her transition to my house super easy. Plus since she was litter trained, her litter box fit in there too and she knew what to do with it already. I never had problems with her ripping or eating the mesh, but she did try to rip up the padding on the board on the bottom. I solved this by covering the whole thing in the clear plastic you can buy by the yard at walmart. It is vinyl. That helped with cleanups too. Good luck to you with finding the right solution. Hope this helps. |
How long do you need to leave them in a playpen? Do you leave them in there all the time? My pup was in a playpen until I got him at approx 10wks old. I tried using a playpen with his crate, food, water and potty pad. He would go on potty pad and everywhere else. He whines and crys the whole time he is in there any suggestions? |

I used to have a playpen for Addison. It was just one I picked up from a friend who was done using it w/ her baby. I just kept him in there when I was trying to clean and stuff like that. Lvmyyorki - your floors are beautiful! |
