Well, I just had a scare! I'm visiting my parents for the rest of the month. They live out in the country on 48acres, surrounded by woods...although their is a highway in front of the property. Lacy is never allowed outside offleash because she'll take off running and won't listen at all. My parent's yorkie, Rylie, normally goes outside on a leash too, but will also go out off-leash occasionally when everyone's home and it's light outside. He's pretty good about listening and staying close. Anyway, I just took him and Lacy outside - Lacy on a leash but Rylie offleash - because everyone was home (so no cars would be coming up the driveway) and it was daytime (so no wild animals lurking in the yard)...well, rylie all of a sudden took off. There were two big dogs in our yard! A big black one and a big white one. I yelled at him to stop and took off after him but he wouldn't listen and was running so fast after those dogs. He got really close to the black dog and I was so afraid it was going to turn around and attack him. My dad heard me screaming at him and came out to see what was going on. We were both yelling at Rylie and luckily he finally stopped and came back over to me so I could pick him up. Ugh...I hate that people let their dogs just run loose out in the country...I knew I had to worry about coyotes and stuff esp. at night, but I wasn't thinking about people's big dogs running loose! Anyway, that just scared me! I was just so afraid one of those dogs was going to attack Rylie! No more offleash outside for Rylie anymore... |
oh wow! what did the big dogs do when they saw rylie running at them? I'd be scared too and not let him off leash anymore. |
oh my goodness!!! i bet you just about had a heart attack! has you heart stopped thudding yet? |

Oh, that's scary! There's always some people that just let their dogs wander. That drives me crazy. |

That would have scared me too. Glad everything worked out ok. |
O my goodness. I am glad nothing terrible happened. Leash from now on mister Rylie. |
so glad things worked out...my heart was racing just imagining it in my head:eek: |
Glad nothing bad happened! |
Oh how scary. I am so glad that Riley finally came to you. Sounds like he was going to whip some big dog butt! |
Whew! I'm so glad Rylie's okay. |
That was scary!! Glad everything is ok!! |
Disaster averted! Thank goodness! People letting their dogs roam is a pet peeve of mine!! Makes it unsafe for all the rest of us. |
I'm so glad Lacy and Rylie are okay! I wouldn't dare let Lady off her leash. Even though there is a leash law here, we still have a problem with loose dogs. |
omg i would be so scared! Good thing he ran back to you. I could never ever let Teddy off the leash, that boy does not listen! lol he does when he's inside but when he's outside he's too distracted and goes running. Sophie pretty much follows me but still i wouldn't take her off the leash outside, especially here. I'm a worry wart |
I use to smoke and would go outside to smoke...One night I went out sit down and a big white dog came running around the corner and scared the crap out of me. I no longer went outside to smoke @ night!!! I too live in the country... I never seen that dog before and never seen it again. |
