There are some really good detainglers out there that would probably help also. I have read that you should not brush dry hair. |
My Remmy has a cottony coat and it mats very easily. I just decided it would be easier for him and I if I keep his coat on the shorter side. I really like it better that way and I'm sure is does not mind. He actually lets me brush him now and enjoys it I think because it is not the chore it used to be. Silk has a much "silkier" coat. Her hair is fine and does not mat at all hardly. I do have to brush her daily but she has a wash and wear coat. I don't put heavy conditioner on her hair because it gets weighed down very easy. Sorry to hear you had to shave her, heres wishing it grows back quickly. :) |
I've found...because of my own experience...that when I used just a plain bristle brush, I wasn't getting all the way down to the skin. I finally got a slicker brush and am careful not to scrape their skin, but with it, you are able to really get down there. When I realized that Gracie's butt was all matted up, I must have ripped out half of the hair back there. I had to learn the hard way. Don't have problems now with my slicker brush. |
Hartz has a pink "cat" slicker brush that is nice because it has the protective ends on it. I have used those for years on my scotties. They are available here at the local grociers. |
