A neutered male dog will make a much better pet. Unneutered males tend to mark - urinate on vertical surfaces - and will very often do this in your house. They can smell a female dog in heat from far away and will be very difficult to live with. Breeding a dog to make money is the worst reason to do it. It is also hard to buy a puppy from a reputable breeder with breeding rights. |
As a breeder, I can tell you right now that if you plan to breed him to make money from him, have him neutered. You will go in the hole money wise.Fair Lacy has given you some advice and articles to read. |
No one who breeds a dog...either the famale or just by studding a male..."makes money." If that is your main reason for wanting to breed him, please don't be fooled by that misconception.:( Not to mention the fact that you run the risk of completely changing his personality. To address the CKC issue...yes, they are a well known registry, but like any registry, they are only as good a their breeders. Sadly, CKC seems to be a safehaven for millers and people who have been suspended by AKC. It's those kind of unethical people that have contributed to the stereotype that ALL CKC breeders are scum with poor quality dogs. That is not the case. :( There ARE some CKC breeders who strive to do what is right by the dog. So please don't ever think that your little fella is any the 'lesser' because of the piece of paper that came with him.:) |

You can only get AKC registration if their mother and father were registered AKC. |
