it's a pretty smart rule, i think.. they should have all their shots before going anywhere where they might get another dog sick, or get sick themselves.

Yes, they have been requiring that for a few years now. Before that, they didn't... some places are different I guess.

I just received my January issue of Dog Fancy. In it there is an article that says that just as the Center for Disease Control declared that the canine Rabies virus was elminated in the US there are possible outbreaks in two states, Michigan and Florida. There was a cat in Hernando County FL that was diagnosed with Rabies. Maybe the annoucement is causing some concern and they are trying to prevent any outbreaks from happening.

Mine always wear their rabies tags, but I think I might make copies of all their records to keep on me or in the car just in case I should ever need it.

There have been several rabies cases around here recently (mostly skunks and raccoons and other animals) but I'm pretty sure there have been a few dog and cat cases too

None of my pets wear their rabies tags. If they ever start making them tiny with crystals encrusted, then maybe she can wear them;) They are always so big and shaped like a bell or some wierd shape and like red or green...just does NOT go with her outfits :p

That's why I don't keep mine on my dog's collars. This year our tags are a large green bell. My dog's are 4 and 6 pounds, it would hang down so low it would bother them. I agree with them getting strict on vacinations. I prefer the extra effort to prevent an outbreak than trying to beat it later.

When I brought my collie into petsmart to get her nails trimmed, I had to show proof of her rabies shot but they put it all into the computer so I don't think I have to bring it every time.

I have a friend who keeps her dog's rabies tag on her keychain. I thought that was a cool idea. Really though...tags aren't really that good when proving rabies as tags can be switched from dog to dog...the best proof is a rabies certificate issued by the vet

I just attach it to a clip that I change from harness to harness on Kenzie, she's the only one it bothers. :)

When I had a small dog, the vet gave me a smaller tag when I asked for it. My bigger dog got the large one and my little one got the small one. (Its like a cat size)

The thing is.. tags aren't sufficient enough to verify they have their rabies shot.
