Valerie~ I see this kind of thing lately on almost a weekly basis where I work at the lumber yard. Why do people feel the need to bring their animals with them in this heat? Leaving their dogs in parked cars while they go in the AC and shop. One guy last week left 2 Labs tied in the back of his truck eventually one jumped out and just stood there whining (thank God his leash was long enough) the other chewed thru the small rope that held him and got under the truck to look for shade.! As I was looking up the number for police and the owner came out. On another instance a big dog evidentally chewed thru his leash and was running thru the parking lot dodging cars. We got the poor baby some water and one of the guys took him home. The other day I saw a car broke down in the side of the highway with a dog...what's with these people? Would be very interested in the story you wrote if you would like to share. I could send it to our local paper and the local news. They've been trying to stress the point also. |
For bigger dogd.. what drives me crazy is dogs in the back of open pick up truck beds going, down the road-- I want to SCREAAM every time I see this awful thing. A few weeks ago, a truck was stopped on the side way with the people picking up a dog carrier from the s highway. The door was open!! I do not know what happened.. if there was a dog in it.. I don't want to guess! |
In my county there is an ordinance against having unsecured animals in the bed of a truck. Of course, there is a law against carrying humans but every year a bunch of kids are killed in P-U accidents. I hope no one takes atters into their own hands and breaks a car window. That is a crime so get the police!!! |
it infuriates me when I hear people would leave their dog in the car! God Bless you, poor little yorkie! Why on earth would anyone do that? Last year here in Tucson (where it gets up to 115 OUTSIDE the car, who knows what inside) some man left his baby in the car, I am pretty sure the baby died (cant remember) but some people shouldnt have dogs OR kids! It really breaks my heart :( I cant even stand being in my car for one second when I get in the garage. They should have taken that poor yorkie away! |
You are an angel for being at the right time, at the right place to save this Yorkie's life. I honestly try to understand the idiocy in some humans for the actions they take. Shame on the owner for what happened!! The ticket isn't enough punishment for what this person did but atleast he got that. |

good for you!! and its not just heat sometimes it can be too cold to. i was at a party in our town last winter and someone had their st. brenard (sp?) in the car. but we were just getting there and the guy came out and was leaving. it was really really cold to. i felt so bad for the dog! |
Whenever I am out with Jack, and I have to stop briefly at one of our small stores, I leave the engine running with the air conditioner on and then lock the door so no one will try to steal Jack. I keep a spare key just for this reason. If I know I will be in a store for awhile I leave him at home. This is a very small town, with lots of tourists, and there has been many times that I have to tell the people that come in my store to go ahead and bring their dog in so it won't have to stay in the car, winter or summer. Let them try to sit in a closed car for more than 5 minutes when it is more than 70 degrees outside. |
