I remember reading that thread, and when this happened today, I actually thought about what happened to you! I also remember the advice people gave you about picking up your baby when somebody approaches you, but like you said, I already had him in my arms (which was why I was so surprised when she just leaned over and grabbed him) :mad:

I think when the teller asked you to let her see your furbaby and you walked over to her, she was so excited she just took your baby out of your arms. People need to be careful and more considerate and not think it is ok just to do what they want.

I got a story for u guys! My sister and I went to go pick up her puppy and we had some time to kill before our flight. We decide to go into a "book store" and look around, the lady behind the cash register came over to us and was IN LOVE with Macy. shes is saying how sweet she is and cute, my sis and I are smiling saying Thank you before you know she takes her out of my sisters hands and says ohhhh your precious lets go show you to my friend and starts walking:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:My sis and i run to catch up to her and take Macy out of her arms and turn to walk away...we were SHOCKED. I mean the lady was an older sweet lady but still! I couldnt believe it! you dont know the things that were going through my mind I seriously was thinking of ways to knock the lady down to get Macy back if she tried to run...crazy

I cannot believe that! She has some nerve to lean all the way over the counter and grab after you backed up. I think I would have gone to the bank manager as well. It just goes to prove that yorkies are irresitable!:p

I was already at her counter before she asked, or should I say demaded to see him. It just took me by surprise how somebody would just reach so far over the counter (she nearly fell off her chair trying to get him!) and take him like that. She could've atleast asked if she could hold him. I wish some people would have more consideration than to just act impulsively like that :thumbdown

Omg that is so scary!! I just don't understand why some people think it's ok to do stuff like that. It should just be common sense that you just don't do that!

Wow..I think i would have gone balistic on her!!! :) lol I have been fortunate enough to have people ask me can they pet him vs hold him and when they do ask I politely say no cause he is a jumper and if you don't see the signs he will jump out of your arms and i wouldn't want you to be responsible for his hurting himself !!! And Nathan doesn't make it any easier for me cause he loves the attention and just wiggles etc to get to them!! LOL most folks thinks he is scared cause he shakes when he is so excited!! LOL

People do this all the time to me, because I'm young (24 but I look 16/17) so I've had to develop a thick skin and put my foot down. I don't mind people petting her, but Suzy is so enthusiastic and loves everyone and wants to jump into their arms. I'm now telling people that I'm training her to behave herself when she meets new people so please don't fuss.

I had a lady offer to mind Suzy for me when I went to vote last week (I'm in Australia, too) and she was completely serious! I laughed and said "um, no way!" and she looked offended. Honestly, some people just have no tact and they get quite cranky when you say no.

I have the same problem! I'm 23 but some people think I'm 16 or 17 as well :p The worst I've ever gotten was 13! :eek: Oh well, it'll work out better for us when we're 30 and everyone thinks we're 20 ;)

Well... for the other side of the story I guess some people don't see dogs as their kids like others do. I grew up on a farm in Arkansas and when I moved to Virginia it was the first experience I had w/ people treating their dogs like people. While I am coming around on the treating them like people thing... I have to defend the fact that there are those of us who are raised to believe dogs are animals... not people...lol. These people don't realize they are doing anything worng. They are just being friendly... ya'll may hate it... but it is a complement. I would NEVER EVER let someone walk up and touch or hold my skin baby... but after my puppies are completely through w/ their shots...I don't have a problem w/ anyone touching them. And in the south..."let me see him/her" means I want to hold him or her.... just like when you are playing w/ a toy and you say "let me see it"....

Don't get me wrong... I wouldn't let someone walk away w/ my dog... or let a drunk hold them... but Chloe adores being held... petted... made over... she just gets a little perkier...

We love dogs at the bank where I work. We have customers who bring their dogs just so that we can see them. Our customers ask about our dogs to, I keep pictures in my desk to show my baby off. We keep dog bones to give out that we pay for ourselves, it's not supplied by the bank. We pride ourselves on being a community bank and we get to knowing our customers so well that we feel we know them personally. Our customers love us to give their babies attention as much as we love to give it. Especially yorkies, two of us there have yorkies so we get very excited when we see them. But I have to say the teller should have been able to tell by your body language that you weren't open to her picking up your dog especially since you didn't hand her over on the tellers first attempt to pick her up. We have had customers bring their dog in and we can tell just by the way they respond to us that it's not that they don't trust us they would rather not. In my opinion the customer has the right to feel that she doesn't want her dog touched, and that should be respected. I hope the teller didn't mean anything, just didn't realize how you felt and I hope that I never unintentionally did that to someone without realizing.

That's very true. I'm always reminding myself that! I remember a few years ago when I bought a packet of cigarettes, I was 19 and didn't have ID with me (the legal age is 18 here) another customer said "you don't look a day over 16 to me!" in a really snarky fashion. I just laughed. Aaah well. Moving on!
