Good luck! |
some of my friends & family think mine bark a lot. I don't think they do. They bark when someone walks by my house pretty close. Its annoying bc its a frenzied barking. Everytime they do it, I say "NO BARKING!" and they stop so they have gotten better and sometimes they will even watch a person walk by and not bark at all. I was strict with my boys because in the first year I had them I got written up twice for their barking by my condo association, so I stopped letting them bark at all, now they bark occassionally but nothing major. Yorkies have exceptional hearing so they will bark when they hear something and it might be something you didnt even hear! |
Yes, mine barks all the time. Some people's Yorkies don't bark much. If you are getting a Yorkie, plan on it barking. |
In our case, It would be False....Neither of my boys bark alot.....They will bark at the doorbell or knocking....But that is about it.....So I guess we are just very fortunate....Sorry..... My mother has a Min Pin that is a true Yapper.....They have spray bottle and will spritz him w/ water when he gets going.....It seems to be helping...Granted they have only been doing it for about a week or so???? Good Luck Joyce |
Belle does sometimes (even moreso when in heat) but a firm "Belle, No Bark" seems to work for us...we've tried lots of things and that's what's worked the best thus far... |
Max does not bark alot, he barks at the doorbell sometimes and thats about it. |
Sebastian and Piper hardly ever bark. |

my last yorkie didn't bark too much and my pixie will bark occasionally when she's playing or if something has spooked her! |
Chloe doesn't bark a lot at all. So, I would say False in my case. She only barks when we play tough with her and she senses someone outside..... |
my babys bark when they see something out the window they sit on the back of the couch looking out the window , they dont like the mailman. |
My babies bark when there are strangers around, or when I try to talk on the phone....:) I don't mind thoooo, cause if I am alone in the house I want to have the comfort of them telling me there is something around..... and to be carefull |
Lil Miss Izzie doesn't bark much at all....so false in my case also. The most she ever barks is if she senses someone outside also. |
Mocha only barks when he sees or hears something that he's not familiar with. And sometimes when he's in his crate and wants out, he'll cry and let out a few barks here and there. I took him to his first obedience class earlier this week, and all the other dogs (Golden Retriever, Alaskan Malamute, and a Min Pin) in there kept barking except for him. It just depends on the dog. |
Rockie barks when someone comes to the door now.:animal36 This is something new for him. :yorkiesar |
True for me mine are barkers unfortunately |
I have both barker and non so I would say both True and false. We are working with our barker. And what our Trainer has asked us to try has worked well. I really think it depends on your dogs personality. |
I think it's dependant on the dog. My Max used to bark constantly, especially when I was on the phone. Alphy rarely barks. |
Wrong time to ask me that questions. I have overnight guess for the thanksgiving holiday and my 3 have been non-stop barking. They normally are barkers but this is ridiculous... I'm down to my last nerve !!!!! |
Mine only bark if they "think or know" something is outside. |
Sass just started barking recently. She isn't a yapper though. Sh only barks when she sees someone outside or hears something. |
mines 4 months and 2 weeks and hardly barks at all. (so far  ) it all depends on the dog's personality and training. once in a while dexter will let out a huge bark and even he will look around like "where did that come from???" lol. we also dont have any other dogs so he doesnt have anything to learn from. we think hes going to learn to meow from the cat! :p |
I was told that terriers were trained and bred to bark. That's how they alerted their owners to the rat they had cornered I trained Eddie by shaking a soda can with pennies in it when I didn't want him to bark. It's negative reinforcement, but it seemed to work. I read something else recently online that seemed to make sense. It says that if you train your dog to bark on command, you can train them to stop. Here's the Web site followed by the excerpt on barking: http://blogcritics.org/archives/2004/06/19/150954.php "Barking is a job. Dogs are proud of their important work. It's part of their humble repayment plan for all this food and shelter. "First, teach your dog to barkon command. Stand next to your dog and tap his paw with your foot. He'll look at his paw. You say, "Bark!" He looks up. You bark again; he thinks you're nuts. But he'll join you soon enough. And the moment he barks, give him a treat and say, "Thank you! That's enough." The dogs stops barking. He's eating. You're praising. "OK? Now your dog is ready to go again. "Bark!" you command. No problem, he says. "Thank you" says you, handing over treat #2. "That's enough." Munch, munch and so forth. "It's funny how fast my dogs have learned the significance of, "Thank you. That's enough." It'd work better if my arm were longer; they don't get a treat every time and it's time to work with them again, but even after just a few days there's been significant improvement. It works better than the squirt guns, though it's not as much fun." |
mine is a barker. she likes attention  :D |
