Why do most people chose... A female over the males? I have noticed that usually the females are the 1st to leave the litter and the poor lil boys are picked last? Why is this? |
I love the little males too, but I really wanted a girl so I could do all the bows and dresses and frilly stuff. |
I know when I picked Bentley, I could have cared less if he was a boy/girl. I fell in love w/him before I even knew! The next time I wanted a sister for him, so that's why I picked Emma. Tallulah was a gift, so I didn't pick the sex. Mckenzie-- the breeder I went to only had one boy and one girl and she just caught my attention because she had such a cute personality and her size was what I was looking for more. The boy was only expected to be 2.5 lbs... |

Not sure ???I love my boy ;) he is the sweetest and most obedient out of the three:D Maybe it is because of all the Way cute clothes they have for the girly girls? |
I guess a lot of times it's because they get to dress them up with all those cute stuff they sell out there. I would get a girl next so I can do just that! and also because it would be nice to have both sexes. I think people that get all girls don't know what they are missing! boys are the most loveable creatures in the world :) !!!!!! |
I don't know why, but I also find this to be the case. Maybe they want to breed the female? I love my little boy though...all of the females were gone when I got him or I probably would have chosen a female. Prior to getting him, I thought that the females might be more affectionate, but I don't think Scooter could be any more loving. |
The reason im getting a girl is because i can dress her up and girls dont spray. |
I had a choice between skoshi and a girl and i picked him! he was way cuter! i do have a girl now and i love to be able to buy cute stuff! but you can for boys too! I do want another girl tho. and then in the future another boy hahah when i get my own house! 4 in all! |

Cats spray;) And females will mark too. Only way to not let it happen is to get them fixed and the right training |
I would love to have a boy. I wanted a girl because at the time I was the only girl in our home. That and all the pretty dresses are way too cute.:D But now having a home full of girls too, if I was to get another, I'd get a little boy.;) |

I agree that girls go faster, and they are more expensive than their brothers (!?). Breeders told me that for people looking for show dogs, it is easier to have a female dog worthy of show than a male one. I also heard that boys were low maitenance and very cuddly, which is true at least for my little boy! |
Rocky does not mark, he lifts but he does not do this in the house unless it's on the peepad. |
My girls all hump and mark except Sophie (who is still a puppy). |
I think its the fact of being able to dress the girls up... also, with girls you dont have to worry about them marking like boys... |
I have never had boys until my Toby. He is such a mama's boy I find both sexes equally as affectionate. It depends on the temperment, some like to be held others like to get into trouble ;) To only pick girls - would def. be to play dress up. :) |
I set out to get a male from the start -- already had him named and everything. I've never had a female dog, so I am partial to the little boys and I just love that mannish little guy personality. May be getting a little girl next year though, as a playmate for "Mama's Boy." |
I don't know why people do that...I actually think it's kinda stupid (ans I rarely use that word, especially on here...) I got pick of the litter of 4 for Kobi, and he was ABSOLUTELY the littlest most vibrant of all four, and I went in not caring boy or girl, and I got him. (there were two boys and two girls) Anyway, I think people should be more concerned with personality and size/looks fitting their lifestyle than it being a girl over a boy...JMO. Oh, and just to add, I did get Kiwi, BUTTTTTTTTT she is a 7 yo rescue, so not exactly a "tiny little girly girl" hehe! But she's a cutie :D |
I originally got Coco because I wanted a girl to dress up and be mommy's girl. Then daddy came along and she became daddy's girl. She has always been super cuddly and affectionate and really not your typical female. Then we decided to get her a companion. We knew she's so good that she would get along well with either gender. I decided I wanted a boy because I wanted a mommas boy  I never thought I could get a more cuddly baby than Coco but I was wrong. Rocco just wrenches at my heart and he could do no wrong..hehe..he is so adorable and even though he's past 1 year, he's still a little pup to me. He is sooo sweet and loving. I love both of my babies and am glad I have one of each :D P.S. I didn't get a boy before because I was afraid of lifting his leg and marking. I got my boy neutered at 6 months and he never marks or lifts his leg. He just squats. |
I have 1 girl and 2 boys and love both sexes the same, neither of my boys mark or hump! I do agree that the girl clothes are cuter but my girl is more independent while the boys are more loving and cuddly. I think having both you get the best of both worlds :) I think people get themselves way too worked up about boys marking, I think its because for example you see threads on here with people moaning because their boy is marking but really what % of all the boys on here is that? I mean nobody is going to start a thread saying 'My boy does not mark yay!' are they? |
Boys Rock!!!!!! I would not trade my boys for the world....Granted, I would like to add a girl to the mix but not at the expense of my boys.... Ideally, I want two boys and two girls.....But if that does not happen...Oh Well...I got my boys...:D My boys are the most affectionate and sweetest things.... |
I was all set on a little boy then Lucy chose me and that was that! |
Well - I chose Lillie as a female at first due to I thought boys were agressive and would want to hump and Lillie would be very girly. So then I chose Gracie to give Lillie a sister that is the same sex. I guess in my mind - it was not about playing dress-up, it was just about agression and affection. However, after reading others comments about boys - they seem to be very affectionate as well. |
I've had a male Yorkie before so I wanted to try getting a little girl. Plus, almost all my pets have been female for the past few years. Well, except now we have two male cats...so I guess not all my pets are females. I want a little girl Yorkie so I can do the dress up thing. I want to dress her up in matching outfits with her mommy so we can look cute together! :D |
I have two female cats and Bitsy is female too. I may never be able to have children and I've always wanted a girl (human baby girl) so that's why I chose a female dog. I wanted to be able to dress her up in cute pink stuff. I also heard that male dogs mark and they don't always empty their bladder when they pee, so that's why they pee multiple times... Now that I realize it isn't true, you bet my next pet will be male! I have too much estrogen in my home now, lol. |
I think, because they like to dress them up. I love the boys. |
I just like having a Princess. That doesn't mean I don't like the boys. Ellie is very cuddly and not independent. She can also be sassy though which is adorable. By the way, it isn't just males who mark. Ellie doesn't lift her leg but she does mark her territory at the petstore, at other people's houses, when we go for walks... |
I know I got my girls because I didn't want to deal with the whole leg lifting thing especially since Yorkies can be a little difficult to potty train but I also though girls were supposed to be calmer/cuddlier- ha was I in for a shock when we got our little monster yorkiepoo- she's hyper and would rather sit 5 ft from you then right next to you but that said- she's still a sweet loveable little girl! |
