I practically renamed Chloe, lol Anyone accidently re-name thier yorkie? I sort of did. Chloe's full name is Chloe Belle and somewhere in mid-summer I started baby talking to Chloe alot and next thing you know I started calling her Chlo-Chlo and Chlo Chlo belle(this all happened somewhere around the time Mz kimmie came to one of our YT meet-ups so Im sort of wondering if I picked this up from her, lol. That's right- I blame Mz Kimmie! ;) :D ). I really have no idea why I repeat the first sylabel of her name :confused: but I also started calling my Boxer Penny, Pen-Pen :rolleyes:. And its become a really bad habit now and poor Chloe doesnt seem to mind but lately I have even dropped the "L" and started calling her Co-Co Belle which is really like a whole new name. Of course I still call her by her real name too but I have a tendancy to baby talk her a lot and call her by her new nick-name and she is almost 3 years old! Anyone else accidently give thier baby a new name? |
oh boy...I'm guilty of this too! Out of respect for Tobi though, I won't repeat those names! haha :p |
I have a chihuahua named Tinker Bell but when Paris Hilton got so famous I WISH I could have changed her name. I wanted to change it to Chloe but she's pretty old so I didn't bother. Darn that Paris Hilton! I just didn't want anyone to think she had anything to do with my name choice. Yuck. |
I catch myself calling Riley different names sometimes. Lol. I call him Ry Ry most of the time. It just seems like its easier because my boyfriends name is Ryan. His parents call him Ry Ry, so I guess I picked it up for Riley. Lol. |

My parents and sister always called Rylie - Rylie Roo. So then when we went to visit, Lacy started getting called Lacy Loo somtimes. So then I found myself calling her LuLu occasionally. So sometimes I call her Lacy, Lacy Lu, or LuLu...among other names like Brat, Baby, Stinker, etc. LOL With Rylie, a lot of times I just call him "Roo" |
Britney and Brooklyn also respond to being called Mr. B and Mrs. B. :D |

I think that dogs respond to your tone of voice more than just the name. And she may just be responding to the k sound in Chlo and Co. I call my dogs all sorts of things and they respond to lots of names, but I always use the same tone of voice when addressing them. And they can tell the difference because when I talk to Tina it is at a much higher pitch than when I address Tbone. I used to call Tbone Puppy all the time and he will respond to it, as well as Boner, Mr. Bones, Teebes, and so on... And whatever I call Tina I usually repeat a few times, so she knows it is her. Teen Teen Teen, Tina Tina Tina, Sweet Sweet Sweet... I started doing that so they could tell the difference between Tbone and Tina. Now I just feel silly because I talk to them in such bizzare ways :rolleyes: |
Oh, and recently Tbone has become Sir Poops a Lot. :eek: |
All of our dogs have practically been renamed. Schatzie (pronounced Shot-Z) became Schatzie Potzie for awhile, then it gradually changed to Schatzie P, then to just P . Now most of the time we call her "shoty" With Delaney Jade she has had tons of nicknames... we started out calling her Laney, then it went to Laney Lu, then changed to LuLu which we still call her alot. Funny thing is we also have a dog named Lucy thaat we call Lulu. Laney has also been- LJ, DJ, Lane-o draino, Trouble 007, and tons more. Slade (Little jack slade of okeechobee hill) gets called Bubba, Chobee, baby boy. |

Oh, yes I think we all are guilty!!! Buddy has lots of names that we call him. The funniest one is "it"....short for little shhhhhh"it". lol We alslo call him, "PoundPuppy"... we tease him (as we are kissing his face off) that we are going to take him to pound because he is entirely too spoiled!!! He is funny .....he answers to all names....he just loves for us to talk to him!!! If he only knew some of the names we call him!!!! lol |
hahaha. Our dogs rarely got called by their real names. :p Rusty had a ton of nicknames - Stanley was one of the most popular. I don't know why...but it was. We called him Crusty a lot too. :p Tucker's mostly called Mucky or Muck-muck. and Maddie was usually Madeline (her full name) or Matters. |

oh gosh...i'm super guilty. my bff has a boxer that i call chlo-boat (her name is chloe) and now everyone calls her that :) maggie has a few names that she is called by everyone in the house... Dorjus (instead of gorgeous) maggs doodles (i named her maggie doodle..but doodles usually is all that comes out) bupper (I have no idea....) and...pooper ;) ok...so yes, i'm guilty :) |

This is such a great thread!! I've had a problem recently because I'll call one of the dogs (Marty or Maddie) and both will come! We've had nicknames for Marty since he was a puppy (Martykins, MartyDoogles, Little Mr. Poopie Butt-My husband's nickname for him :rolleyes:) so we use those to differentiate. (Well, not the poopie butt one, but you get the picture!) We also try calling Maddie by her full name, Madeline, about half the time so she's used to both and understands when we're talking to her specifically. We also use Maddie girl or Mr Marty, but they still both come no matter which name we use. lol It's kind of funny that their names ended up being so close... |
i think lacey thinks her name is "the baby", everytime i ask hubby where is the baby she comes running like i'm here mommy. |

Tatum gets called "Tater Bean" a lot. Not something I really wanted to stick but it just comes out of mouth a lot. Sometimes it's just Tater but I try to call her Tatum when I think about it. My toy poodle, Dax, got called "Puddy" a lot..... started out at "Puppy" but sweetened to "Puddy". It was really hard to not transfer that to Tatum which I think is why I call her something totally different. |

I've found myself calling little Reilly Max all the time. Max was a little rat terrier that we rescued, he lived a long time but passed away almost 2 years ago. Reilly reminds me so much of Max, even though he's a chi, he looks a bit like him and really acts like Max, we've even commented that we always wanted to know how Max was as a puppy and Reilly has a lot of his personality, I always feel bad though when I call him that and he just cocks his head and looks at me so funny! Mister Bear is 'old man', Lida don't have a nickname, it's either Lida, Lida Rose, or Lida Rosie. Cosannah is Cozy, I call Titus 'doodlebug' a lot (it was a nickname for my first yorkie who's waiting at the Bridge for me) and Phoebe gets called Phebes a lot more than I would like! |
