She obviously has no Yorkie experience. :scratchhe I have 2 words for her: Her Loss!!! |
I place him in the class on the military base and PMO said that they had to be 10 weeks or older to attend. Since I use the base vet I will have a his first and second set of shots by then. Cathi |
That's good they will take them that early..Tri Co. Tech college won't take them in to puppy classes until 5 mos. They had a post for it up on the bulletin board this morning when I was at the vets office..You would think he would have to have his rabi shots before they would let him attend though, wouldn't he? |
yes, at least two sets The military vets want to see them at 6 weeks 12 weeks and 16 weeks. Since the class is not until the end of the January, he will have both sets by then. |

Ya know, I get that all the time, because my big boy is a Lab/PIT mix. Face of a lab, body of a pit. I get so tired of people running away, nosing into our business ("How can you endanger others with that dog?"), and making a big fuss ("Oh, look at that mean dog, honey.") Truth is, he has had two fights in 6 years with other dogs: once was a toy stealing episode in the dog park (another dog took his ball), and the other was a stray dog trying to set up shop in our yard here (chased him off and then came back). Zero people aggression, unless the person is up to no good (then he just barks). I have had people pull guns on him (in New Orleans) based on his barking at them. I took the time to socialize and train him, but some just go by reputation or looks, and judge. Popular perception may be that Yorkies, being small dogs, are spoiled and yappy. My limited experience has shown me otherwise. So what I say to people when they "judge" T.J. is: "Oh, what makes you say a thing like that? Hmmmm..." and I lift my eyebrows and say: "Come along, sweetie" while looking over my shoulder as we walk off. Just bewilders the s*** out of them. Next time I see them, they usually wave and might even come over to pet him! So don't let the petty jerks of the world get you down. Matthew |
Cathi, double check on those shots..Ginger is now 15 weeks, the breeder gave her her first shots at 8 weeks, then I had to take her in at 12,15 and 18..In SC now, they're required to have 4 sets of boosters now(this has been changed in the last year since I got my shepherd), anyway, I told them today I didn't want them to give her the rabi shots..she said now SC wants you to get their rabis at 3 mos(used to be 4)...told her Ginger is never outside, she said I should be okay, but could be fined if I was caught..told her didnt think I would be caught in my house..I would actually rather wait until 6 mos. but will do it next time..the vet tech said today, she would be more concerned about the other shots they get, rather than the rabi..as far as any reactions |
That woman is short a few slices of the wonder loaf! I am sorry you let it bother you! Please enjoy the class in January! |
I agree with all the other comments But , I wish that the lady who said that would not be able to be around any dogs whatsoever !! She has probubly got mental problems and it had something to do with something else completly ! I agree with the comment above that she should have lost her teeth that is meen and hateful to say about any dog !!!!! I cant even imagine saying that She is just a very unhappy person do not let it affect you !:aimeeyork We all know yorkies are the best EVER |
I will stop by the base vet clinic on Monday to double check. Since they are not open on Friday's. I wll not rush in getting the rabies shot. I am just following the military rules, since the class was free of change I didn't think that it would hurt to place him in with all the 10 to 16 week old toy puppies. |
I'm sorry - and possibly my mood today- I should not be posting - but come on - You cried because someone said Yorkies are stupid and should just die - and everyone is agreeing - Yikes - I do believe there are some very rude people out there - and they can say things that may be hurtful - but to cry over something like that - I don't know - maybe I just have bigger things in my life to cry over that someone's words just won't do it for me. Don't mean to hurt your feelings - but on something like this- Grow up! |
