Another neighbors' story--What are they thinking? I know that this is nothing like Figment and Molly but I have another neighbor story. I have a 5 foot chainlink fence that has locks on all entry ways so no body can come in and take my dogs. Anyways, I have a rescued beagle who was an escape artist so I put patio bricks under each entry way so he could not dig out. He hasn't escaped in over 2 years so it worked. I was cleaning out the garage today and the back door of it is right next to one of the gates. I started to hear "you can do it--come on baby--come to me." and "do you want a treat?" I peek out of the garage and it was my neighbor and her daugther (Not a young daugther--about 25 years old). They had cheese and were trying to get my new yorkie/maltese puppy to slide under the fence!!!!!! I came out and was like "What are you doing?? You are going to teach him how to get out? Let alone get snoopy (my beagle) back in the habit to dig!!!" They said they wanted to see the puppy and I told them all they had to do was ask. They didn't understand why I was so upset--Hello...I don't want my dogs getting out and risk them getting hit by a car or taken!?!?!? Well, that was yesterday and guess what? I caught Snoopy and Jacks trying to get out today (neighbor were calling them over again!!!)--now I have to break both of them from it--again. I just don't know what to say to them because I am so mad and I don't want to start a big feud. Monica |
I would seriously do some a** chewing if I were you. That is not right. I hate to say this but my dogs are everything to me, I would knock some one out if they were doing this. That is not cool what so ever, Are you sure that they werent trying to take your pup?? I mean, it happens. |
OMG!!! I would have been very pi**ed!!!!! THAT IS B.S.!!!!!!!! How do you know that they just "wanted to see your dogs?" They could have stolen them! Next time they did it, I'd threaten to call the cops!!!! But then again, after the second time, I would have showed up with a baseball bat to let them know that I meant business. I'd be damned if someone was trying to bait my dogs out of my yard!!!!!!!      |
Wow! You sure make me thankful for the good neighbors I have. That is totally unbelievable. I can understand wanting to see the puppy, but that is utterly rediculous. :eyebrow2: |
ThIS JUST TOTALLY PI**ES ME OFF!!  :thumbdown :thumbdown   |
People are really stupid, there is no other explanation. Another example of something stupid: I was holding Chewy in a store the other day and a man came up to us, very close and barked at Chewy. it freaked him out and he starting squirming, I almost dropped him. I did dress him down and told him he was an idiot, but Chewy could have gotten hurt. People don't think and People do stupid things. |
The second time they did it--I had just gotten out of the shower and was not properly dressed  so I couldn't go running out there. I don't think they would take him but I am going to talk to them tomorrow again and tell them they need to stop or I will call the cops for "endangering" my dogs. My pups are everything to me as well and it took everything for me to not go off and smack them. They know my pups ar my babies and they saw how upset I was when I lost my yorkie at 8 months to a liver shunt problem. THEY MAKE ME SO MAD.     |
Oh boy, that is really awful!! I don't blame you for being upset. How close are you to these people and how well do you know them. Sounds like you're gonna have to talk to them. Good luck! |
Well after talking to them the first time, they might just keep doing it, but I would be very serious about calling the cops. SOME PEOPLE!!!!! |
OMG! Thats terrible :thumbdown |
I have been leaving here for 6 years and know them somewhat--I am pretty much a "keep-to-yourself" kinda person with the neighbors--mainly because they are nosy--like when the moving van came to get my ex's stuff out--there were at least 3 neighbors coming by seeing what was up--I don't know them well enough to share personal stuff. The funny thing is that just last week I was thinking of giving them a key just in case I got locked out or something. I feel like they would now come into my house and mess with the dogs. My key is now going to my friend who lives a couple of blocks away :D I will let you know how the talk goes tomorrow. Monica |
Minca- I don't blame you for being upset! What are they going to do when/if something happens to your babies??? Ask them if they are going to take responsibility then! |
Just be carefull with your furbabies, you might think they wouldn't take them but there friend might. I am not non trusting, but when it comes to my furbabies, thats a whole other story. |
The thing with non-pet people is that they simply just don't understand what we go through to keep our pets safe. You can yell out to a toddler and they can comprehend it. A dog can too, but sometimes the fact that they are set "free" could hinder their "command comprehension". I notice that a lot of people do things that they think are "funny" and they don't understand that our dogs can get really hurt in the process of their "humour". Your neighbours really need to be set straight and understand that the safety of your dogs is of the utmost importance and if they do anything to jeopardize it, they will be held accountable for it. |
That's terrible! If I were you, I would start saving up for a tall wood fence so no one can see in and get any stupid ideas. |
I don't blame you!!! my neighbors are like my family and i love them you made me that more thankful for them. i would defenatly threaten with the cops. i don't think they just wanted to see them thats not what it sounds like. sounds like they wanted to steal them, IMO. |
I would definetly be mad. First of all how do they even know it's ok to give your dogs cheese. Maybe their allergic. Second of all common sense would tell you not to do that. My son's neighbor has lots of dogs, and I'll go and talk with them, but I would never encourage them to get out. That's just rude. I'd think about a wood fence too, and call the cops. |
People can be so rude and clueless. We don't know any of our neighbors very well, but if one of them started messing with our dogs and wouldn't stop we would do something about it, too! I'm sorry you have to put up with that. |
WOW... unbelievable!! Keep up posted on how this turns out! |
Oh my goodness Monica. I would be furious. They say the best thing you can have with a neighbor is a Privacy Fence. The only good thing about this is that it was your neighbor and not a Dog Napper. |
Crazy!!!!!! I can't believe you caught them in the act and they STILL didn't act like they did anything wrong!!! :thumbdown I'm not very close to my neighbors, so hopefully I won't have to go through this - GOOD LUCK!!! |
I have to add to this... I beg you to take a deep breath and pray for calm when you go to talk to them, because you never know just how crazy some people can be. I have a friend who was in a similar situation a couple of years ago, and her furbaby ended up dying from poisoning! She could never prove anything, but she knew it was them! Being neighbors might have made access to the pup easier because they could watch their daily routine. Two years and a skin baby later, she still morns her "first born" and the mention of her Barbarella brings tears to her eyes. She ended up moving a continent away! It just breaks my heart. :unlove: I don't mean to be such a downer, but an a**hole is an a**hole, and it sounds like your neighbors really take the cake in that department!!! |
OMG! I would be FURIOUS! You are every right to be upset! What nerve! I once had an actual fist fight over my Maltese (before I got my Yorkie). I was planting some flowers for my mom and my neighbor, Kelly, opened my fence, picked up Codie and walked outside w/ him to show some of her friends. I ran after her and, let's put it this way, I almost got arrested for what I did to her. But luckily one of my cousins is a cop so nothing happened. I would never let someone get away w/ trying to harm one of my babies - and that is exaclty what your neighbors are doing. They are teaching your dogs that it is ok to break your rules and one day your dogs could get out and run into the street (and maybe even GOD FORBID get hit by a car). I would not THREATEN to call the cops - I WOULD actually do it the next time they try to entice your dog. You never know what their intentions are! |

I had a friend wearing a bath towel confront a man in his back yard with a bat. The guy said he just wanted to play with his chow puppy. Yeah right. He climbed over a 6 ft privacy. You can never tell about some people. |
Ok, this is where my redneck women temper comes in and I go off on them!!! I have a short fuse! That would have pissed me off so bad! My advice which probably isn't the best would be to tell them exactly how you feel. |
I'd have another talk with them, explaining why this is such a big deal. I would also talk to the police to see what they have to say. I wouldn't mention the cops to the neighbors until you have talked to them. You know how some people are, they will see if you would really call the cops. Good luck! |

I am not suspicious by nature... but THAT would send my rocket to the MOON ! GOOD luck and I hope like anything they stop that - it's very wrong ! |
OMG! I would be so upset! I couldn't imagine a grown adult trying to get my babies to get out of my yard. We have a tall wood fence and the young girl next door talks to them through the cracks and they go nuts, but she never tried to get them out. Hope everything works out with your neighbors. |

Ditto......I would video tape this and call the police and report "attempted larceny".......actually, "grand-larceny" considering the cost of these babies!!!! I would post no trespassing signs and even consider a restraining order.....with a video tape the judge would understand!!!! |
