Best brush? What brush do you all use to brush your babies? The one I have has soft bristles and really doesn't do anything. Also, what is the best way to get your dog to let you brush them? I always try to brush Lilly and I do alright with her back but as I go up closer to her head she starts biting at it. |
I use a pin brush without the balls on the end. I also use a comb for fine tuning and her snout. |

While a pin brush does work best - I recommend making an investment in a Chris Christensen pin brush. These brushes do not have the balls at the end. What a huge difference when I moved from a cheaper pin brush to the CC brush!! Easier to brush, the dogs aren't so annoyed & I believe it helps hair from breaking. Also, remember not to brush a dry coat - they sell some sprays, but personally I love Cloud Star's Buddy Splash. I just got the CC brush eariler this year and what a difference it made! Definitely worth the $$. Besides the pin brush, I also use a slicker brush and a greyhound comb. |
What size CC brush do you use? |
I use the 20mm gold series pin brush. It's a good size for the yorkies |
I have the 27mm pocket pin brush. 35mm is supposed to be for long coats but it seemed a little too much for me. |

Another vote for the CC gold series brush. I wish I hadn't waited so long to order mine. It really does make a huge difference. |
I have the 20mm gold and really love it but the pocket fusion has gotten fabulous reveiws here- I cheaped out and got the gold.:p |
I just bought a new brush from my local pet store. It is made by Kong. (The company that makes the rubber kong treat toy.) It is rubbery. I wasn't real sure about it but both the owners have yorkies and said it works great on their hair. And it does, matts brush right out and Angel, my yorkie biewer, whose hair is fine and tangles easily, Loves it and she is a real baby when it comes to brushing her out. The rubber is soft so it doesn't scratch or poke their skin. Bailey, whose hair is wavy likes it too. I have a whole container of brushes I have bought for my two and so far I really like this one. I do use another soft brush on their faces though because it is wide,(mine is in the shape of a dog) I am afraid I'll poke them in the eye. |
I also vote for the CC brushes. I use flea combs with handles or the Li'l paws combs the face. |
I have a CC pocket brush that I love! I bought it to take to shows, but I use it most of the time here too. The pins do not hurt the dog at all. Michelle I may have to look for the Kong one too. Glad to hear that Angel is still being pampered! Pam might appreciate a call if you have time, she is recouperating from surgery and cannot do much. |
