Meg, that's why I decided against getting the washable ones..but, the ones I have really do absorb really well...My hubby won't let me use any but these from drsfostersmith..we hardly use any at all, with all 4 dogs using them. |
I use the washable ones underneath the piddle pads just to catch any spillage. Since its only a small amount of urine, I then wash them by themselves in the washing machine. |
I use washable pee pads. I also recommend the ones by Little Bit. They are super thick and absorbant and very cute! Bitsy knows the difference between her pads and the rugs and carpet. I don't know if it's because of the "spot" I put them in. I think if you were to switch over to washable pee pads from disposable pee pads, just put the washables under the disposable for a few days, then put pee drops from the disposable pads to the washable ones till they get the "scent". If you put the washables where the disposbales were, the dogs should get the idea... I also wish more people would consider washable. I'm not the most environmentally conscious person, but I'm trying to do my bit for the world, one baby step at a time. Also, you don't really need to worry about your washing machine retaining the odor or the gross factor. After doing one load of pee pads, remove the pee pads, then run a rinse cycle with a little bleach and you're all clean! Pee pads also dry pretty quickly, so I never put mine in the dryer. |
I have used Nature's Miracle since the day Parker came home (he wasn't pee pee pad trained at all) and he went on it the second I put it down. I haven't ever had a problem with these leaking and we use them for a few days before I throw it out (my lil guys piddle is so tiny :p ) I sure hope this works! Good luck messy pee pee isn't fun at all. |
The Best!!! These are THE BEST pads I've ever, ever used. And I've had pad trained dogs for 8 years. I've tried them all...Foster&Smith, PetEdge, all the conventional PetCo brands, Arm&Hammer..etc etc. Then I started using hospital bed pads..first the cheap-y blue ones, and then tried every single one until I found these. I have tried about every kind too, but I still like the xtra from drsfostersmith..they're more expensive, but since we've been using those, hubby will not let me use any others..the regular ones, NO, I don't like them from fostersmith, but the xtra are great.. |
I agree, leaking pads are gross! I order these from PetEdge and order them 500 at a time. The price is good and they are absorbent. I do change my pads several times a day. such good ideas Wow... I knew I would get a response but I love that I got so many...now I have to decide what to do...lol. I am not a real enviromentalist myself... but I just say a deal on plastic in the ocean... it was amazingly gross. I would like to go to the washable ones... then again... washing all the time hurts the environment too... plus I hate to do laundry.... hmmmm..... choices choices... just how lazy am I? lol |

I just use the PetGold ones from Petco. They never leak because I use the tray that goes underneath the pad. They have pink and blue trays. The pads are secured under the edge of the tray, so that stopped all of the torn up pads and tummy aches that can happen from eating the pad when no one is looking! |
LOL Mine tore the pads up even with the pad holder(tray) As far as the enviornment, yeah, they do take up a lot, this is why I like the ones I use, even with 4 dogs using them, I only change them out 1-2 times a day..the cheapy(blue ones) I would double up, and still change out about 4 times a day(which comes out to 8 pads).. |

I use the gridlock pads and never have to clean up a leak! I too get them off ebay. I have tried so many but once I used the gridlocks that it for me lol |
I'm not going to stink up my washing machine either. I'll just bring all the dogs stuff to the laundry mat about 5 minutes away to avoid any stinks when I get my yorkie in December. :) |
