Piddle Pads Ok... I use piddle pads... I have used a couple of brands... some blue... some white... they all leak. I have to put 2 on top of each other. Does anyone have any that they love. I mean it isn't like a 1lb dog pees that much and even when bitty Gigi pees they leak. Any advice? I would use the reusable but I hate to do my kids poopy laundry... I don't want to do a dog's... it might stink up my machine...lol... or they might think my rugs are the same things... ??? |
Yes, these are the ones I get for all 4 of my dogs, will NEVER use anything else http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...le%20pads&Np=1 |
I'm anxious to hear the answers too. I have been trying several different kinds and have liked the ones from the pet store, but none that I bought from Walmart. |

4 dogs and I have one down in the family room and one in the laundry room, I usually change them 1=2 times a day..usually I put one down first thing in the morning, and then at night..they usually poop on them before I get up, so a lot of poop..but, these are fantastic, I love the xtra, my sister in law now uses them too..they are well worth the money and so thick, and the pee dries on them very quickly too...Hubby said DON'T ever buy those cheapo blue ones again... |
Those sound like really good ones! |
I buy the 150 packages of them, cost wise, they're more expensive, but you get what you pay for..sometimes they run sales on the big packs..I hope they hurry and run some sales real soon...I think if you ever try them, you would never use anything else, and they get to you real fast too..I usually have mine within a week after ordering..I order and if it's before 2:00 I think that day, they ship them that day.. |
Thanks Thanks. I changed them often unless I am potty training a puppy that is just not getting it... then I leave it as an attractent... which seems to work w/ the ones that have trouble. I take the poop off but leave the pad (unless liquidy). This has really helped little GiGi. I have a baby though so I only do that one w/ the one in the shower. But w/ one pee... even from tiny Gigi... all the ones I get leak (super absorbent... my booty). I was thinking of trying the more expensive ones. But hated to pay more for the same crap (so to speak...lol) |
I am on the second brand and so far so good. I don't know off the top of my head which ones they are but they are NOT the simple solutions ones, those were horrid. |
I love these. www.digitpet.com They are called Gridlock they are light green. Don't leak, Since I have found these I don't use anything else. I got them off ebay. I buy them buy the case, cheaper that way. I swear by them. |
I use human diaper pads which are normally used to line beds for infirmed. They are larger and can absorb much more with no leaks. Cheaper too! |
Wow, I'm so happy to see this thread - I've been using Simple Solutions - the yellow ones, though - and I do really like them - but always open to find something better - but now I don't know which ones to order!! :) |
I was always kind of grossed out by washable potty pads. But I got some from Little Bit here on YT, and I am sold!! My older dog still uses paper puppy pads (old dog, no new tricks), but Coby uses the washable. We pick up and flush the poop, so there's only pee on them. With the paper ones, I always felt the need to change them with each pee because I didn't want to look at the spots. With the washable, the spots don't show, so the same pad can last all day (or longer). I was dreading the double puppy pad expense. They are great quality. I need to get a couple more in order to just keep the laundry going and be able to wash a couple at a time. I never thought I'd like them, but I do. It also helps the peeing at the edge problem. They are absorbant all the way to the edge, so no more puddles. And with all the prints, you can get something that looks good in the room - almost looks like a throw rug! |

Thank you! You are so sweet! I am glad you like them. I changed for the same reasons. Tired of the puddles under the pad, leaks, torn up pads, nasty looking pads when company comes, etc. I would never go back to paper! If anyone is interested please let me know. By the way I got a few more new fabrics tonight. |
reusable you don't find that when you use the reusable they use your rugs or clothing kids leave on the floor more? floor more....sorry...lol |
Meg, that's why I decided against getting the washable ones..but, the ones I have really do absorb really well...My hubby won't let me use any but these from drsfostersmith..we hardly use any at all, with all 4 dogs using them. |
I use the washable ones underneath the piddle pads just to catch any spillage. Since its only a small amount of urine, I then wash them by themselves in the washing machine. |
I use washable pee pads. I also recommend the ones by Little Bit. They are super thick and absorbant and very cute! Bitsy knows the difference between her pads and the rugs and carpet. I don't know if it's because of the "spot" I put them in. I think if you were to switch over to washable pee pads from disposable pee pads, just put the washables under the disposable for a few days, then put pee drops from the disposable pads to the washable ones till they get the "scent". If you put the washables where the disposbales were, the dogs should get the idea... I also wish more people would consider washable. I'm not the most environmentally conscious person, but I'm trying to do my bit for the world, one baby step at a time. Also, you don't really need to worry about your washing machine retaining the odor or the gross factor. After doing one load of pee pads, remove the pee pads, then run a rinse cycle with a little bleach and you're all clean! Pee pads also dry pretty quickly, so I never put mine in the dryer. |
I have used Nature's Miracle since the day Parker came home (he wasn't pee pee pad trained at all) and he went on it the second I put it down. I haven't ever had a problem with these leaking and we use them for a few days before I throw it out (my lil guys piddle is so tiny :p ) I sure hope this works! Good luck messy pee pee isn't fun at all. |
The Best!!! These are THE BEST pads I've ever, ever used. And I've had pad trained dogs for 8 years. I've tried them all...Foster&Smith, PetEdge, all the conventional PetCo brands, Arm&Hammer..etc etc. Then I started using hospital bed pads..first the cheap-y blue ones, and then tried every single one until I found these. Yes, they are NOT cheap, but neither was my floor!! NO leakage, and tons of absorbing power. Probably worth at least 8 piddles..lol!! http://www.northshorecare.com/underpadbeige1.html |
I have tried about every kind too, but I still like the xtra from drsfostersmith..they're more expensive, but since we've been using those, hubby will not let me use any others..the regular ones, NO, I don't like them from fostersmith, but the xtra are great.. |
I agree, leaking pads are gross! I order these from PetEdge and order them 500 at a time. The price is good and they are absorbent. I do change my pads several times a day. Annabelle doesn't like to go on used pads. She'll use it twice and that's about it! So prissy! http://www.petedge.com/Clean-Go-Pet-...nt-ZW19350.pro |
such good ideas Wow... I knew I would get a response but I love that I got so many...now I have to decide what to do...lol. I am not a real enviromentalist myself... but I just say a deal on plastic in the ocean... it was amazingly gross. I would like to go to the washable ones... then again... washing all the time hurts the environment too... plus I hate to do laundry.... hmmmm..... choices choices... just how lazy am I? lol |
i haven't found any pads that our dog will even use faithfully :( |
I just use the PetGold ones from Petco. They never leak because I use the tray that goes underneath the pad. They have pink and blue trays. The pads are secured under the edge of the tray, so that stopped all of the torn up pads and tummy aches that can happen from eating the pad when no one is looking! |
LOL Mine tore the pads up even with the pad holder(tray) As far as the enviornment, yeah, they do take up a lot, this is why I like the ones I use, even with 4 dogs using them, I only change them out 1-2 times a day..the cheapy(blue ones) I would double up, and still change out about 4 times a day(which comes out to 8 pads).. |

Thanks, ItsyBitsy! I have never had a problem with my washer stinking either. I usually do a pre-rinse to get the majority of the stuff out and then run it through a regular cycle. Works great and I love the fact that I never run out of pee pads, no more emergency runs to the store. It really is not a hassle for me to wash them. |
I use the gridlock pads and never have to clean up a leak! I too get them off ebay. I have tried so many but once I used the gridlocks that it for me lol |
I'm not going to stink up my washing machine either. I'll just bring all the dogs stuff to the laundry mat about 5 minutes away to avoid any stinks when I get my yorkie in December. :) |
I had thought about the washable ones too, but hubby said NO WAY! |
