| I need some advice! My yorkie had 4 puppies on November 6, 2007. I am having a difficult time in getting her to eat. She is drinking great, but not eating much at all. I am very concerned. This was her first whelping and I was told that their appetite greatly increases, yet hers has not. Any suggestions? (I have tried giving her bacon, mixing various things in her food, chicken strips, etc. to no avail). |

| You must get mommy eating as soon as possible for the babies sake. If you can get some puppy milk suppliment, give some to Mom. Whatever puppy food she likes best. Or even human fooid as long as you can get her eating something. Of course it should ideally be the most nutritious food you can find for her. Puppy food is recommended for nursing moms. Try boiled chicken and rice. If she isn't eating by tomorrow I would definitely call the vet.

| Bacon is one of the worse things you can give a dog..that is too salty for them, salt can kill them.! Try giving her maybe a teaspoon of cottage cheese, some canned puppy food, but please, no bacon! |

| Try this: Post Whelping Pudding 16 oz. water 1 pkg. Knox Gelatin (micro. to disolve) 15 oz. can evap. milk 2 tabls. vanilla yogurt 2 egg yolks 2 tabls. white corn syrup mix all ingred. in bowl let set in fridge until thickens. Spoon out as needed. Here's another to give to mom immediately after whelping 1 can of goats milk equal parts of water 1 egg yolk 1 table spoon of Karo syrup. Helps to get her strength back. Place a bowl right up to her and she'll lap it right up. Both of the recipes help with milk production. Please keep us posted
