I need a solution!!!! I don't know what to do....... Meiah takes her one paw and "digs" in the water bowl, pulling the water out of the bowl and all over the floor causeing huge puddles of water, which I'm worried about ruining the flooring, as well, I'm completely tired of cleaning it up!!!! Do you think a raised feeding area would work? But then it can't be too high...... What would you suggest? Its driving me nuts! Oh, and I already use water bottles.....(for Tia - its the only way she can drink water as she can't drink from a bowl due to the placement of her cleft) but she (Meiah) doesn't drink from them. What should I do ? |

I am having the same problem with my new little guy, so I will be interested in seeing replies. It seems like I am constantly cleaning up water on the floor. I have a placemat down under their dishes which helps to protect the flooring somewhat. |
sounds like a job for "pish pads" They are absorbent washable potty pads that have a waterproof backing snd csn be cut to fit any size or shape. I use them in my x-pen when I have babies and also take them with me to use in hotel rooms when we take the dogs with us. I use them both for potty pads and under thier bowls to keep it clean. Here is a link: http://www.pishpad.com/ |
Victoria has always done this and now I see that she is teaching Baxter the same bad habit. I have no idea what to tell you other than I make sure their water bowls are in feed trays with towels underneath to absorb the water. |
lol and I thought my baby was the only one!!! I can't stop him from doing this either so i just come to terms with this and I have a piece of rug under his bowl so all the extra water goes on the pc of rug !! Will be watching this thread to see if anyone has a solution to stop this!! LOL I doubt it though!!! |
That's what I was going to suggest. Use a washable potty pad! The ones I sell are really big and would probably catch all that water. Another solution that I saw the other day (sorry, but I can't remember where) was a water bowl that had a thing inside the size of the bowl that floated on top. There was slight dip in the middle of it with a cut out X in the middle of it so the dog could get water, but his beard wouldn't get wet. But I don't know if that would help if she is so agressive with her foot or not. If you are interested in a pad PM me and I can make you one or two. |
I think the washable pads would be good, they are small and adorable. |
My yorkie poo Bentley does this all the time, we call it "going swimming" LOL. We just put placemats under the water dish and it keeps the water off the hard wood (well most of the time anyhow :p) |

Oh Little Bit - dig through that brain - I want to see this magic bowl you're talking about! I hate getting a unsuspecting kiss after a trip to the water bowl. |

Here it is! I saw it in the new G.W Little catalog I got in the mail. http://www.gwlittle.com/prod/Product...owls_1355.aspx If you try it let us all know how it works. |
hmm I wonder if the wishbone is free floating? Koda likes to snatch up anything not tied down and run away with it, lol! |

It doesn't look like there is a lip, that would make it really hard to clean. It looks like it would be hard for them to get a hold of the edge anyway. But you never know...I guess if they tipped it enough with their foot to get one edge of the floater up then they could. |
