After spay questions? 4 Attachment(s) Hi everyone, as many of you know Paisley was spayed yesterday. We had a very long night with her. When we got home she wouldn't even move from her crate. I left the door open for her but she just sat there and whined off and on. :( I made sure I gave nutrical through the night but she kept turning her head to it. She didn't go potty all night but finally this morning she wobbled her way to the puppy pad and tinkled. After this she just sat down and still has no interest in anything. Her little whines are so sad and breaking my heart. Her siblings keep wanting to cuddle with her and poor Pia I swear is a nervous wreck and won't leave her side. I didn't want to leave Pia in the carrier with Paisley but she keeps trying and now just flopped down by it and has her head by Paisley. :( I have a few questions for you guys. Paisley had 6 baby teeth pulled and I've been giving her some baby food to eat. I'm having to force it but atleast she's getting a little. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I can try? Also, how long was it until most of your babies felt better? Trixie I swear was never sick and came home wanting to play. I also can't go off of Pia because after her spay it became a complete nightmare and definately not typical. I just want to make sure this lack of activity is normal and not going on too long. Thanks for the help everyone. :) Check out the cuddle pictures. They love their baby sister so much. ;) |
1 Attachment(s) I couldn't leave this one out of Trixie and Snoot. ;) Thanks for the help everyone. :) |
Have you tried putting the food in a surrenge (SP) It took Aubrey about a day or two then he was back to his normal self and I couldn't keep him from jumping off everything! But he didn't have any teeth pulled. I hope she gets to feeling better:) |
By the way she's in the crate because I promised my vet I would keep her there for one whole day. My vet doesn't usually allow them to come home on day one but I begged. I had to open the door though but like I said she didn't want out either way. :( |
Awww Dina I think Paisley will be fine :) Tate was like this too for a while. I think it's normal especially being that Paisley JUST had her surgery yesterday. That poor little thing :( I can't remember if I told you or not, but I gave Tatum Cottage Cheese (just about the only thing she would eat) - and also gave her some plain yogurt whenever she would accept it. Anything soft really that she would at least eat (even a little bit of canned pumpkin). I know that Paisley will be feeling better in no time :) Give give her lots of gentle hugs but let her rest alot too. We all send her big hugs! |

You know I didn't try that but will. I had given pedialyte this way but tried letting her lick the food from a spoon. Thanks for telling me that. :) |

Aww, thanks girl and yes I think you did mention that but I didn't have any success with any of the things you mentioned. She is refusing everything and she usually loves nutrical but she doens't want it either. :( I guess I'll keep trying. Thanks girl. |
I just went through this two weeks ago. Ellie's recovery went like this. 3:30pmish end of surgery 7:30 came home 7:30-12:30/midnight could barely sit up...wouldn't eat (that is huge for Ellie) 1am ate (she wanted to, I didn't force her) 6amish peed :) and started walking a bit midday sometime: pooped Lazy for a few days and didn't want to do much A week or two later she is back to herself We did syringe her some sugar water when she wouldn't eat and some plain water so she wouldn't dehydrate. I was very concerned when she came home that night and wouldn't move, so I started a thread. It is in the emergency section. People here said it was normal and someone's dog laid on the couch for a few days and had food brought to it. If that would have happened to Ellie though, her vet woulda had a fit and saw her again. I would think she should want to eat and move around by tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Is she on pain meds? |

Hi, thanks for telling me all of that. Yes, she is on pain meds but still seems in so much pain. She moves slightly and just cries. :( She's usaully such a little clown, so seeing her like this is so hard. :( |
Ya, the same thing happened with us. Ellie was miserable with the meds. It will get better.:) The first thing Ellie wanted to eat was my apple sauce. |
I didn't bring Lucy home until the next day and by then she was back to herself. I'm so sorry Paisley isn't feeling well. Send her hugs from Lucy and I. |
